Nanotechnology and Energy Research Center of San Diego (NERCSD)
Perspective from Revit 2014 edited in Illustrator Nanotechnology and Energy Research Center of San Diego is a carbon-neutral and energy plus building. The overall form of NERCSD was designed in a manner to respond to its site context and program in every aspect. Utilization of the nanotechnology products and materials were essential factors in achieving the high excellence of environmentally friendly design and at the same time meeting the requirements of the elegant architectural product. Spaces and functions were organized in an L-shape to meet the requirements of user groups and site context. The use of BIM software both in form generation and analytical study, improved and exceeded the schematic design process, such that the use of such advance software became essential. The use of Autodesk Revit Energy Analysis

Nanotechnology and Energy Research Center of San Diego (NERCSD)
The nanotechnology is one of the most important factors, as it influences the whole design idea, form and massing of the structure from the earliest steps of design. Nanotechnology pushed the limit of design and provided more creativity and innovation in design. The design of NERCSD was inspired by the part of nanotechnology that will provide efficient renewable energy through the mitigation of carbon emission (GHG emission) from the building.

Multifunctional properties, which could perform a wide range of functions, were key elements in the NERCSD design. NERCSD Multifunctional Nanopanels shaped the skin of building and for that it defined the smart environment for the building. NERCSD Nanopanels were designed in accordance to the comparison study of the Revit Energy Analysis for the south faรงade of the building. These panels generate electricity from sunlight, provide natural light, high performance insulation, high tensile strength (wider span than normal panels), OLED lighting (less GHG emitting lighting system) and smart environments. Nanosensors in the panels are responsive to the physical conditions of both inside and outside environments in order to provide the optimal conditions with the minimum amount of energy. The annual Energy Consumption of NERCSD is 1,200,000 kWh and Renewable Energy Potential is 1,002,599 kWh per year with the

use of high efficiency photovoltaic system. The design of NERCSD Nanopanels just by increasing the surface area of PV system through the use of Transparent Graphene Solar Cells, increased the annual Renewable Energy Potential by ¼ to 1,253,249 kWh. This increased by itself as compared to the total energy consumption of the building per year that is 1,200,000 kWh, demonstrates that NERCSD is Carbon Neutral and Energy Plus. (This calculation and analysis are based on Autodesk Revit Energy Analysis) In addition, if nanotechnology as its promised can improve and enhance the efficiency of solar cells, NRECSD also can provide the electricity for the neighbor buildings. In 30 years owner/owners of NERCSD will save 2 million dollars just by meeting their own need of energy consumption. Other considerable factors are that the type of solar cells used in the building are cheaper than silicon based solar cells and are more efficient.

Renewable Energy Generation: These panels by their design increase the REG by PV system ¼ times more as define in energy analysis by Revit AutoDesk, due to increase of PV surfaces. And also can increase it throughout the graphene solar cell efficiency compare to the regular high efficient silicon cell. Minimum potential of REG for building by these panels is 1,253,248 kwh/yr.

Transparency and visual connection played an important role in the design of museum complex. Visual connection with surroundings was essential in the museum design, as well as natural lighting and environmental factors, aside the site context and topography were others influential parameter of the complex design in order to achieving the high excellence of an architectural product. Functions, form and spaces are organized in accordance to the groups of user and the role of each function, in order to meet all needs of both visitors and staffs.
Museum of Cyprus
The museum included three main sections and areas, which are Museum section, Administration building and Recreation facility. The complex is located next to the Wall City (the historic city from the venetian period in North Cyprus).

Remodeling and additions to residential buildings are a large part of business for Civil Engineering Design Group. I was involved in preparing conceptual plans and models for several of these projects, including this one. I have also been responsible for preparing the entire designed documents, packing them for permit processing. This includes the architectural plans, as well as electrical mechanical and structural.

Our firm represented the owners of the Hotel as expert witness in a construction litigation case. Our task required preparation of an “as-built” plan of the hotel. Most of the fields were took place while the building was occupied.
Hotel Heritage
With this project, I became very familiar with field and process that is required to develop “as-built” drawings. I was also exposed to structural system that existed in the 1920’s and how they are different today.

Prepared design documents and construction details to replace decayed railings for the sky walks within multistory residential building. Also assisted in processing these plans for permitting and construction. This project provided me an opportunity to become familiar with CBC requirements and with process, challenges and complexity that is associated with retrofit projects.

The chocolate empire located in one of the Westfield shopping mall in San Diego. Westfield also is the property manger of the unit. This project introduce to our office (CDG) as Renovation and remodeling of a unit from its previous function. My duty for this project as one of my first practical work experience with CDG was the conceptualization and visualization of the design/ new function to the Westfield and our client in order to meet their expectations at first phase of work. Applying the new code requirements to the project was the other phase I involved in.
