ABSTRACT This book is not an anthology but rather a collection of 9 original scientific papers united by the theme of the Amazon. The chapters were elaborated by interdisciplinary teams of authors from Czechia and Ecuador. However, researchers, students and artists from other countries of the world also participated in the creation of this book. The multicultural character of this publication is given by the diversity of the Amazonian nature and society. The chapters deal with current topics in the field of social and natural sciences. The motive for their preparation was the need to protect the cultural and natural heritage hidden in the colorful tangles of the Amazon forest. Keywords: Amazon, nature, society, heritage
