THE MUSEUM FOR GERARD BRETTSCHUH IN ARNFELS CONSISTS OF
3 WITH A HALL CONNECTED VOLUMES. THESE VOLUMES “IMMERSE” INTO THE ADJACENT ROCK BEHIND AND SO BOTH THE MUSEUM AND THE ROCK BECOME A PART OF EACH OTHER.
SIZE AND MATERIALITY OF THE MUSEUM ARE DERIVED FROM THE
TRADITION OF THE HOMESTEAD WHICH STOOD ON THE SITE. NOT ONLY THE FACADES BUT ALSO THE INNER WALLS OF THE MUSEUM ARE MADE OF RED BRICKWORK - A TRADITIONAL BUILDING MATERIAL OF THE REGION. THE LOCALLY COMMON BRICK LATTICE HAVE BEEN NEWLY INTERPRETED AND SETS AN UNIQUE LIGHT ATMOSPHERE IN THE INTERIOR.
AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE DESIGN ARE THE CONNECTIONS WITH
THE SURROUNDING: WITH THE ROCK (THE PROMINENT OF THE AREA) IN THE NORTHEAST, WITH THE REMNANT BUILDINGS OF THE FORMER HOMESTEAD IN THE WEST AND WITH THE MEADOW IN THE SOUTH. ALL THE SURROUNDING SUBSTANCES MAY AFFECT THE VISITORS THGROUGH THE GENEROUSLY DESIGNED WINDOWS.

THIS RESEARCH FOCUSES ON A NEW LOAD-BEARING CERAMIC
SYSTEM. ALTHOUGH CERAMIC IS A TRADITIONAL MATERIAL, WHEN COMBINED WITH PRESTRESSING, IT IS A RARELY EXPLORED AREA.
THE GREEN VEE SYSTEM USES PRESTRESSED MODULES AND DRY
JOINT TECHNOLOGY THAT NOT ONLY ENABLES QUICK ON-SITE ASSEMBLY AND DISASSEMBLY, BUT ALSO MAKES THE ASSEMBLY INDEPENDENT OF WEATHER CONDITIONS. THIS RENDERS THE SYSTEM VERY SUITABLE FOR TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTIONS. IN ORDER TO MAKE THE SYSTEM EASY TO MAINTAIN AND TO PROVIDE AN EFFECTIVE DRAINAGE OF RAINWATER, A SIMPLE TRIANGULAR CROSS-SECTION HAS BEEN DESIGNED.
THE GREEN VEE SYSTEM CONSISTS OF V-SHAPED “BASIC” AND RE-
VERSED A-SHAPED “FULL” MODULES. BOTH CAN BE PRESTRESSED AT TWO LEVELS RELATIVE TO THE CENTROID OF THE PROFILE. THIS MAKES THE SYSTEM CAPABLE OF RESISTING TENSILE FORCES ON ITS TOP AND BOTTOM SIDE. DUE TO THE CLOSED VOLUME OF A-SHAPED MODULES, IT IS ALSO POSSIGRAZ - INNERE STADT: SCHWARZPLAN (1:1000)
BLE TO DIRECT THE PRESTRESSING PERPENDICULARLY TO THE EXTRUSION AXIS IN TWO LAYERS. A SPECIAL ADVANTAGE OF THE GREEN VEE SYSTEM IS ITS ABILITY TO BE PLANTED WITH GREENERY THROUGH THE A-SHAPED MODULES. THIS MAY BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED, ESPECIALLY IN BUILT-UP AREAS, BECAUSE OF ITS CONTRIBUTION TO THE ECOLOGICAL CLIMATE OF A CITY.
TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF A STEEL DIES ARE NEEDED FOR THE EX-
TRUSION. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE EXTRUSION, WHILE IN THE WET STATE, THE EXTRUDED CLAY IS CUT ACCORDING TO THE REQUIRED SIZE OF ELEMENTS. AS SOON AS THE “BRICKS” ARE SEMI-DRIED (IN ABOUT TWO DAYS AFTER THE WET PRODUCTION), OTHER SHAPE ADJUSTMENTS (CUTTING “WINGS” FOR ASSEMBLING AND DRILLING) ARE CARRIED OUT. THE CLAY IS THEN FIRED TWO TIMES WITH A PAUSE OF ONE DAY IN ORDER TO GAIN THE PROPER RIGIDITY.

THE PROJECT DEALS WITH A PROPOSAL OF REUSING THE VACANT
LOTS OF TWO NEIGHBORING BLOCKS IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE PRAGUE’S QUARTER “VRŠOVICE”. ON THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF THE BIGGER TRIANGULAR LOT, THERE IS A SMALL SQUARE CALLED “TRŽÍČEK” (LITTLE MARKET). NOWADAYS, IT SERVES MAINLY AS A PARKING LOT, ALTHOUGH THE LOCAL CIVIC ASSOCIATION USES IT AS A PLACE FOR ORGANIZING VARIOUS CULTURAL EVENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MARKET TO COMMEMORATE THE LOCAL TRADITIONS, FORGOTTEN FOR MANY YEARS.
IN THE TERRITORY OCCURS A 6-7 STOREY BUILDING WITH A HOUS-
ING FUNCTION IN THE HIGHER FLOORS AND A COMMERCIALLY USED PARTERRE. ESPECIALLY IN KRYMSKÁ STREET, THE PARTERRE OF OTHER BUILDINGS IS PREDOMINANTLY USED FOR CAFÉS AND RESTARURANT PURPOSES. THE VOLUME LAYOUT OF THE DESIGNED OBJECT IS BASED ON THE IDEA OF CONNECTING THE NEIGHBORING BLOCKS DIVIDED BY A NORTH-SOUTH ORIENTED PAVED WAY. THIS COMMUNICATION IS FREQUENTLY USED BY LOCAL RESIDENTS, SO IT IS HIGHLY DESIRABLE TO MAINTAIN THE OPTION TO CONNECT FRANCOUZSKÁ STREET WITH TRŽÍČEK. THIS CONNECTION STEMS FROM THE NEED TO OPEN UP BOTH BLOCKS WITH A SINGLE FACADE IN ORDER TO PROVIDE QUALITY INSOLATION.
THE VOLUME LAYOUT OF NEW RESIDENTIAL HOUSES DECREASES
TOWARDS THE SOUTHWEST SUCH AS THE DESCENDING SLOPE OF THE SITE. THIS ENABLES MORE EFFICIENT INSOLATION OF THE HOUSES BY USING THE SOUTHERN LIGHT COMING FROM THE COURYARD. THE LARGER VACANT LOT IS DESIGNED FOR 3 OBJECTS, EACH WITH 3 APPARTMENTS ON THE FLOOR, AND THE SMALLER ONE IS DESIGNED FOR ONE OBJECT, ALSO WITH 3 APPARTMENTS ON THE FLOOR.
THIS BACHELOR THESIS STUDY FOCUSES ON THE SOUTH-WEST OB-
JECT OF THE LARGER, TRIANGULAR VACANT LOT. THANKS TO THE COLUMN SUPPORTING SYSTEM, THE PARTERRE IS FREELY FORMED IN ORDER TO OFFER VARIOUS SPATIAL SOLUTIONS AND THEREFORE MEETS THE DEMANDS ON COMMERCIAL, RESTAURANT OR ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES. ALL OF THE DESIGNED APPARTMENTS CAN GAIN THE SOUTHERN SUNSHINE, WHICH AVOIDS PROBLEMS WITH UNSUFFICIENT LIGHT CONDITIONS INSIDE THE BUILDING (GIVEN BY SHADOWS CASTED BY NEIGHBOURING OBJECTS).
THE SURROUNDING SLANTING ROOFS ARE INTERPRETED WITH IN-
CARVED TERRACES ON THE TOP FLOOR. IN ORDER TO CREATE AN EMBOSSED FACADE, SUCH AS THE OTHER BUILDINGS IN THE SURROUNDINGS DUE TO THE STUCCO RELIEFS, BRICK CLADDING WAS USED. THE ROOF CARVINGS REVEAL THE CONCRETE INSIDE OF THE BUILDING.

THE ADDRESSED SITE IS A PART OF THE PRAGUE’S QUARTER “VRŠO-
VICE”. THIS SITE IS OF THE SIZE OF APPROXIMATELY ONE BLOCK AND IS ADJACENT TO THE NORTH-WEST CORNER OF THE STREETS VRŠOVICKÁ AND PETROHRADSKÁ. THE SITE IS CURRENTLY USED AS A PARKING, WHICH WAS ORIGINALLY INTENDED MAINLY FOR THE VISITORS OF THE “BOHEMIANS” STADIUM, WHICH BORDERS WITH THE SITE OVERLAPING THE STREAM “BOTIČ” ON ITS EASTERN SIDE.
THE SURROUNDING BUILT-UP AREA, CONTAINING MOSTLY 6-STO-
REY BUILDINGS, HAS PREDOMINANTLY RESIDENTIAL CHARACTER, WITH A COMMERCIALLY USED PARTERRE. THE PROJECT DEALS WITH A STUDY OF A MULTI-PURPOSE BUILDING, THAT WOULD MEET HIGH AMBITIONS OF THIS LUCRATIVE TERRITORY FOR ITS LOCATION.
DIRECTLY TO THE STREET LINE OF VRŠOVICKÁ AND PETROHRADSKÁ
STREETS, THERE IS A 6-STOREY ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING WITH A COMMERCIALLY USED PARTERRE DESIGNED. THIS WOULD PARTIALLY ABSORB THE NOISE COMING FROM THE BUSY ROAD CROSSING AND SO WOULD SUPPORT THE COMFORT IN RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS DESIGNED IN THE NORTHERN SIDE OF THE TERRITORY. THIS STUDY ADDRESSES ONLY THE VOLUME LAYOUT OF THE RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS.
THE AREA IS ALSO AMENDED WITH A PARK WHICH MAKES A PART OF
THE REVITALISATION PROJECT OF THE BOTIČ STREAM SHORE. THE ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING IS CONCEIVED ON A CENTRAL GROUND PLAN. ONE OF THE REASONS FOR THIS CONCEPT IS THE SOLITARY CHARACTER OF THE OBJECT FUNCTION IN THE TERRITORY; ANOTHER IS THE NEED TO REACT TO THE SURROUNDING CLOSED BLOCK INSTALLATION.
OVERHEATING OF THE OFFICES DUE TO LARGE WINDOWS IS PRE-
VENTED BY THE DIRECT SUNLIGHT REGULATORY OPTIONS BY OUTDOOR BLINDS. THE PARTERRE HAS A POTENTIAL OF THE COMMERCIAL USE; THIS DRAFT COUNTS ON DIVIDING OF THE RENT AREAS INTO 4 SEPARATE SECTIONS, ACCESSIBLE FROM THE BOTH STREETS AND THE ADJACENT PARK ON THE EASTERN SIDE.
THE TYPICAL GROSS OFFICE FLOOR AREA OF 1100 M 2 PROVIDES
LESSORS TO DESIGN THEIR OWN LAYOUT OF THE ENTIRE SPACE ACCORDING TO THEIR NEEDS. IN CASE OF DEMANDS FOR SMALLER AREAS TO RENT, IT IS POSSIBLE TO DIVIDE THE FLOOR INTO TWO SEPARATED, THOUGH INDEPENDENT, PREMISES.
BASEMENT GARAGES PROVIDE 70 PARKING PLACES. FOR VERTICAL
COMMUNICATION OF VEHICLES WAS CHOSEN THE HALF-RAMP SYSTEM, ENABLING MORE PRONE AND REQUIRING A SMALLER LENGHT OF THE STRUCTURE. PRAGUE - VRŠOVICE: SCHWARZPLAN (1:1000)

THIS APARTMENT BUILDING IS LOCATED IN THE OLDEST PART OF
PRAGUE’S QUARTER “PROSEK”. THE SURROUNDING BUILT-UP AREA REACHES THE HEIGHT OF 2-3 STOREYS. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS A HIGHER BUILDING OF AN ART SCHOOL ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET “U PROSECKÉ ŠKOLY”. THIS STREET MAKES AN IMAGINARY UPPER BORDER OF THE SLOPE DESCENDING TO THE SOUTH TOWARDS THE “VYSOČANY” AREA. THE SITE IS SITUATED ON A SLIGHTLY SLANTING TERRAIN.
IN THE APARTMENT BUILDING, THERE IS A GLASS-WALLED PATIO
WITH A STAIRCASE. THE GLASS WALLS PROVIDE AN OUTLOOK FROM THE NORTH TO THE SOUTH OF THE PATIO.
THERE ARE APARTMENTS OF DIFFERENT SIZES THAT CAN SUIT NOT
ONLY TO STUDENTS BUT ALSO TO SMALLER FAMILIES. A MECHANICAL PARKING IS AVAILABLE IN THE BUILDING; ITS TOTAL CAPACITY IS EIGHT CARS.
THE WHOLE OBJECT IS WHITE-PLASTERED, WITH WINDOWS FRAMES
PAINTED IN BLACK VARNISH.

THIS SEMESTER THESIS ADDRESSES A REAL SITE IN THE OLDEST
PART OF THE PRAGUE’S QUARTER “OŘECHOVKA”. IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD, THERE ARE MAINLY SINGLE RESIDENCE BUILDINGS FROM THE INTERWAR PERIOD SURROUNDED BY PARKS AND PRIVATE GARDENS. RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE RESEARCHED SITE, THERE IS A CINEMA HALL FROM THE SAME PERIOD.
OPPOSITE THE CINEMA, THERE ARE TENNIS COURTS THAT CUR-
RENTLY LACK ADEQUATE FACILITIES BOTH FOR THE PLAYERS AND THE ADMINISTRATORS. THE AIM OF THIS WORK IS TO DRAFT A 2-STOREY BUILDING THAT WOULD RESOLVE THE POOR STATE OF THE OBJECT.
THE BUILDING WOULD ALSO OFFER A REFRESHMENT BAR TO THE
TENNIS PLAYERS AND ALSO PROVIDE NECESSARY FACILITIES FOR MAINTANANCE OF TENNIS COURTS AS WELL AS THE ADMINISTRATOR’S OFFICE OR SOME BASIC SERVICE ROOMS. THE GALLERY, SERVING AS A “CLUBHOUSE” FOR THE PLAYERS, IS LOCATED ON THE 2 ND FLOOR IN FRONT OF THE ROOF TERRACE ENTRANCE.
ACCORDING TO THE SURROUNDINGS, THE MAIN MATERIALS CHO-
SEN FOR THIS PROJECT ARE RED BRICKS, CONCRETE AND WOODEN SLATS.

THIS VERY FIRST PROJECT OF THE AUTOR CONSISTS OF 15 CELLS,
TOGETHER CREATING AN AREA INTENDED FOR EXHIBITION PURPOSES. EACH STUDENT IN THE STUDIO HAD TO CREATE ONE OF THE 2 OR 3-STOREY CELLS.
WORKS OF ALL THE STUDENTS WERE CONNECTED BY A JOINT COM-
MUNICATION INSIDE OF THE OBJECT.
THE PROJECT FOCUSED MAINLY ON WORK IN TEAMS.

A FEW DRAWINGS WERE CHOSEN TO BE DISPLAYED. ALL THE PIECES
WERE MADE NEITHER IN AN ART SCHOOL NOR IN A DRAWING COURSE. ITSORIGINAL SIZE IS KEPT.
ON THE FOLLOWING SLIDES, YOU CAN SEE A TANGLE OF ROPE, A
DRAPERY, STOOL “IKEA” AND A STUDIO CHAIR.
