Detours Galerie Frédéric Giroux, Paris Installation, 2005 It is a 3 dimensional installation, a sheet of paper in the DIN A 4 format is attached to the opposite wall to the Shop window from the Gallery Frédéric Giroux. 30 Strings of black cotton are drawn and find their way to the sheet and go for 21cm in parallel lines, before they re-merge into the space again. The strings describe curves, straight lines and figures. The strings are connected, they follow a pattern and they abandon it to find their own way. The lines on the sheet have become a detour: they are to guide us and to misguide us. The work was part of a performance by Amande In and Arnika. Material 1 sheet DIN A 4 white paper, 30 black cotton strings Dimensions 11,8m2 / variable to the space Realisation time: 25 heures
Happy, happy, joy, joy Mask, 2007 A smile — The cheeks are forced to form a smile thereby forcing the mind of the individual to find happiness and joy in life. The mask serves as a tool to connect the state of mind with the happy mind, in its natural state. Humour has the same effect upon a person as drugs like cocaine have. But there is one difference: Humour is good for your health. American scientists have found out that smiling strengthens the immune system of the body and increases the production of endorphins. Become happier by being happy! Material Leather
Apathy, apathy, depression, depression Mask, 2008 The cheeks are forced to hang, thereby manipulating the mind to get down. Roots and circles, stars, crosses and Hearts Drawings on paper, 2006 There are 4 drawings on paper. The work aims to provoke mental associations within the mind of the spectator. The focus is on the perception of the individual. It plays with the ambiguity of roots, blood vessels, circuits and algae in connection with stars, circles, crosses and hearts. The spectator can freely associate his visual manifestations with individual projections of reality. He is therefore able to create an imaginative picture and projecting it upon an invisible wall that exists only in his mind. Drawings and Co-working with the German-French literature magazine „La mer gelée“. 2007 Titel of the serie: You can fuck my heart, but you can‘t pick my flower. The domination of the body and its connection to the outer world. The borders are destroyed, intersected, they have disappeared or are merged. The work shows that a frontier could be the place of separation or of contact. The work is about the (observed) contradictions in the perception of reality by the spectator. The drawings might surprise the spectator, as they do not always match his or her expectancy level. The use of suggestive motives appeals to the subconscious and plays with the fears and the projections of the spectator. He might experience a feeling of repugnancy, sexual excitement, joy, sadness or shame… Material Fineliner on paper Dimensions 210 mm x 290 mm
Nature — Supernatural Drawings, 2007 Material Fineliner on Paper Dimensions 84,1 × 118,9 cm
