How to Get A Great Monochrome Look Who says you have to wear bold colors to stand out? Black and white can really look fabulous and let you make a bold fashion statement that will really let people know who you are and will make them sit up and take note. Not everything is black and white but your clothing can be, as long as you are careful to choose a look that suits you and flatters your face and form. This is a really easy and affordable trend to pull off and of course there are always plenty of black and white clothes to choose from on the market. There are, however, certain things that you should be sure to remember in order to pull off this look with aplomb.
Firstly, consider your skin tone. People with very fair hair and skin can sometimes look washed out by black, drained of all colour. This does not mean that you should never wear black at all, but you should be careful to keep the black elements of your costume further from your face. You might wear a black skirt, for example, but keep the top half white, donning some sort of white top or blouse. A black high-necked top would not suit people with the wrong sort of skin tone, however, for others it could be just the dramatic look they have been after.
Secondly, consider your figure type and the proportions of your body. Bear in mind that black can be really slimming and that white sections will pop out. So for that reason, if you are composing a black and white outfit, you should be careful to position white pieces of clothing or sections of those items of clothing only on parts of the body that you want to draw attention towards. For example, a bodycon or fitted style of dress with white on the hips might be great for some girls, but perhaps not for those who carry any excess weight in that area.
Thirdly, remember that not all blacks were created equal. There are a number of different blacks each of which is subtly different and combining lots of different blacks – for example black dress, black cardigan, black tights, can loose some of its chic effect when the blacks do not match. Make sure that blacks are crisp and ideally uniform in tone – they do not all have to be exactly the same but do pay careful attention to the way that different blacks make each other look.
Finally, white items for the monochrome look should really be white. Off-whites can look dirty or can muddy the crisp and modern effect. Take care to choose crisp white clothes rather than cream, ivory or other off-white items and take care of your clothes to make sure that they retain their purity.
Pulling off a monochrome look is easy, just remember to tailor this cool, sleek look to suit you. MissBella
