COMPONENT 1

Personal Projects : Urban Environment An urban area is the region surrounding a city. Most inhabitants of urban areas have non-agricultural jobs. Urban areas are very developed, meaning there is a density of human structures such as houses, commercial buildings, roads, bridges, and railways.

The jarring change going from an urban environment to an extremely remote natural environment is extremely inspiring. It's constantly stimulating, it's like a slap in the face. Bankers cannot afford to be concerned with only the economic aspects of projects. There may be serious implications on the natural environment, the urban environment, on human culture. If the earth was an apartment, we wouldn’t be getting our security deposit back.

Artist Investigation / Francisco Noguera

Why this artist? I have chosen the artist, Francisco Noguera as I was very inspired by the work he presents. His images stand out to me as they are very different to others that I have seen. I love the way his work comes out. The main thing that stands out are the colours that appear in his final outcomes. They are rather subtle and abstruse. I strongly believe that if I study Francisco's work, it will inspire me even more to take images inspired by him.

Semi Analysis / Francisco Noguera The photographer of this image is called Francisco Noguera. The title of this photograph is unknown but the date is was taken was in 2019. The genre of this photograph is architecture linking to my urban life project. The props I can see in the picture are, buildings, reflective water, yachts, people. The photographer uses the 7 visual Elements Of Art in his work to create this photograph. In my opinion the strongest elements are colour and space. The element of colour is strong because the colours are very harmonious and calm. The element of space is very effective because at the bottom of the image it is very chaotic and busy. Contrastingly, the top part of the image is tranquil undisturbed. he photographer uses colour well in his work as I have already T said. The main focal point of this image are the buildings. I know this because it stands out the most and light stands out the most in that area. The yachts have been placed in front of the buildings so that they make the scene look more elegant. This is called composition. I believe this photo has been taken outside, using the lights from the building but also natural light. I can see that the light comes from mostly, the middle part of the photo. This means it comes from mostly the buildings. The light is reflecting into the water. I believe that this photo has been taken outside in an exotic country using both natural and lights that are coming from the building. To emulate this photograph myself, I would need to use a DSLR camera and probably a tripod. I would need a fast shutter speed. Additionally, I would need to research where I could possibly emulate this photograph. I feel like this photo gives a message of warmth, power and elegance. I think this way because it seems very calm.

Artist Investigation / Berenice Abbott

Why this artist? I have chosen the artist, Berenice Abbott because I feel as if his images tremendously stimulating. These images are the main ones that stand out to me. This is because they are extraordinarily distinctive. The main thing I love about his images are that they are all laid out differently. They are all very unique. The work of Berenice Abbott shows only the colours, black and white. To me this is very effective as the person viewing the image would only focus on his props and the idea of his images instead of the colours that are in the images. "Imagine a world without photography, one could only imagine." How could I emulate this work? To emulate the work of Berenice Abbott, I would have to go, or visit a city with high buildings, or a city that is full of skyscrapers. An example of this would be a place like, London. I would then take numerous images to try and emulate the images of Berenice Abbott.

Comparative Semi Analysis / Berenice Abbott & Francisco Noguera The elements and features that are similar or the same in the work produced by Berenice Abbott and Francisco Noguera are rather engrossing. Some of the features are: Rule of thirds: In both images, the rule of thirds is appli3ed perfectly. There are 2 or more boxes that are more spacious and free. The other boxes are more filled and full of excitement. Shape: If you look at these two images, shape is used effectively. There are many different shapes, but one of the main shapes is a rectangle. The buildings are rectangles. Due to this, the viewer will automatically be drawn to the buildings and the shape of it. The colours that are used in these images are entirely different. In the top images, the colours are tedious and repetitive. Where as if you look at the second image, the colours are intense, dazzling and thrilling. These two images use various different colours and create two different moods. The first image creates a uninterested mood. Although, in the second image it creates more of a vigorous and exuberant mood. Both of these images have been taken from a long distance so you can see what is on the ground. Eg- in the first image you can see the road and pavement, and in the second image you can see the water. This is so that the buildings are the main focal point of these two images. The first image has been taken using natural light. On the other hand, the second image taken using more artificial light. You can see the light coming from the building. I feel that the first image conveys a message of dullness and Victorian times. This image gives me more of a dull atmosphere. However the second image is more modern. It gives me a feeling of delight.

Shoot Plan 1 For my photo shoot, my images are going to be inspired by Andrew Prokos. My plan is to use fish eye lens and create my images in the same style as Andrew but with a fish eye lens. My shoot will be taken at home. The props I intend to use are, my smartphone and if needed an extra light. Only if it is dark. The lighting conditions I require is daylight / natural light. My subject will be front lit. The lighting will be natural light. If I take my images later on during the day, or at night, I will have additional lighting. I intend to shoot with my smartphone, as I have already mentioned. I intend on making my images top quality. Post shoot, I intend to edit using the adjustment tools on pixlr. I will be focusing on contrast, exposure, curves and light balance. Any aberrations or defaults will be remoted using the paintbrush tool and I will crop the image using the rule of thirds.

Shoot Plan 2 For my second shoot, my images are going to be inspired by Berenice Abbott. My plan is to use worm's eye view but also create my images in the way and in the same style of Berenice Abbott. My shoot is going to take place at home. My images are mostly going to be taken outside. The props I intend on using is my smartphone. The lighting I require are natural lighting and if needed, any additional light. Such as a flashlight. My subject will be front lit. There will not be any specific subjects, unless there are buildings. I intend on taking these images on my smartphone, as I have mentioned earlier on. Post shoot, I intend to edit exclusively using the adjustment tools on PIXLR. Focusing on contrast, exposure, curves and light balance. Any aberrations or defaults will be remoted using the paintbrush tool and I will crop the image using the rule of thirds.

Composition Design Inspiration Reynald Drouhin To finish my project off I am going to complete and finish two compositions. These compositions are going to be fulfilled with the images I have already taken previously. I want my compositions to look effective and to the best standard I can achieve. These compositions are being completed at school in exam conditions.

"The eye should learn to listen before it looks." “What’s really important is to simplify. The work of most photographers would be improved immensely if they could do one thing: get rid of the extraneous. If you strive for simplicity, you are more likely to reach the viewer. “There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative. Oop! The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever.”

Composition Design 1 For my first composition, I have drawn inspiration from Reynald Drouhin because I strongly believe that his images are very eye catching and impressive. I love the way he presents his images. I was motivated to edit my images in his style. I am also using the images from my Andrew Prokos shoot that I have completed earlier on. I plan to shoot outdoors as this is what Reynald does. His lighting is perfect and I feel that if I go out on a summers day or just a bright day, my images will be as effective as his. For props, I will not be using any additional objects / props. This is because I am going to edit my images on Pixlr in the style of Reynald. The lighting conditions I require is a lot of natural light. For example: - Sun light - Day light I will experiment using high key because it will show my image more. My subject will be front lit. However, I will not have one focus on my image. I intend to shoot using my smart phone. I feel as though this is best for me as I am used to how to use it and how to make my images come out the way I intend and want them to come out. Following the shoot, I intend on digitally editing my images using an online editing site called Pixlr. This is because this is the only way I will successfully create my images in the style of Reynald.

Composition Design 2 For my second composition, I have drawn inspiration from Reynald Drouhin again but in a different style. He has more edited images which are also dazzling and astounding. I am very influenced to edit my images in the style of Reynald once again.
