The Introduction ATTENTION:

To all my “Grown Folks” in Orlando, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU! This week’s “Talk of Orlando?” is a “hometown” R&B Artist right from our “City Beautiful”! REB’s Album “The Introduction” is just the influx of romance and passionate music that the current R&B industry needs. It’s time we “educate” these young folk on how REAL LOVE MUSIC is made…

Out of all the songs on your current album “The Introduction” what song best describes you? I can’t really say that there is one song on this project that can best describe who I am. Every song tells you a little about who I am and where I come from. Starting with “The Introduction”, (track 1) that gives you my views as to where I am as a man and an artist all the way to “Save the Day” (track 10) that tells you of some of the pain that I have gone through in my life but I still continue to believe in love & the power of it. What can people expect of this album? What was the “theme” or “artistic idea” of the album? People can expect an old school feel from this project. My producer, Jesse Stevenson and I wanted to bring back the soul in R&B music. We did our research, going back and listening to Jodeci, Keith Sweat, Silk, Guy, Babyface and many others to try and capture that same feeling and to bring it up to date to help people remember what R&B music is really about. You have one track from the album that is being used for promotion of the novel “A Healing Guide for Women” by JL King. Tell me about the novel and how was it that author chose to use your music to represent it?

This book was written to bring healing to all of the women that have been involved with men that weren’t true to them. JL King has gotten thousands of emails from women asking him to write a book on how to overcome, be healed and understand that it wasn’t they’re fault. The “Safest Place” track written by Mr. Gregory Taylor & myself is the song that JL King chose to use for his book tour. JL King heard my CD playing in a barbershop in Atlanta, GA and asked Thomas the shop owner how he could get in contact with my manager or me. I just about to exploded with excitement when I found out that he wanted to use that song. I always tell the one I am inlove with to “Keep Me in the Safest Place”, so I decided to write a song about it and add it to my album.

What made you start singing? For some it was a way to get out or help them through situations in their life. We want to know, what is your story? From the age of 5 I knew that I was born to sing. I would stand on a planter in front of the house with a stick in my hand as my mic and sing my heart out. It was my “stage”. I also sang in church. At the age of 7, I was directing the adult choir and later became the praise and worship leader. While leading the people into worship, it was my time to express how I feel toward God for all that he has done and is doing in my life. Yes, I agree with every singer that has said that it is a way out, because it truly is. I have been through some very hard things in my life, and right when I thought that there was no way out, a song would drop in my head. Then I would sing it until I pulled through whatever it was that I was going through at the time.

Working with those artists was memorable in itself. Just the fact that I had seen them on award shows and television, then to share the stage with them was great! My favorite experience was with the Queen of Hip Hop (Queen Latifah) while performing at Florida A&M Homecoming. She was down to earth and took the time out to talk to me before she went on stage by telling me how much she enjoyed the performance. Besides appearing at “Velvet Sunday” 8/21 @ Tessa, where else can Orlando check you out? For any dates of me performing here in Orlando, you can check my website or my face book page for that information. What advice would you give an artist looking to get noticed/break into the industry? The only advice that I would like to give to artists is to “Go after your dream.” Don’t allow anyone to speak negative things into your life because of what your dream is. Don’t expect people to easily support your dream, you support it 1st and others will see your vision and join you. It’s not going to happen overnight but when it does the sky is the limit! Hold on to your dream and don’t allow anyone to kill it. Shout Outs I would like to give a shot out to my staff at REBMuzik Group that has and is making my dream a reality: CFO: Mrs. Lynette Jackson Lott, Business Manager: Mr. Sterling Stevenson, Personal Manager: Mr. Keith Philpot Walthour, A&R Director: Mr. Jake Holmes III, Publicist: Ms. Jennifer Reed, Marketing Director: Mrs. Janelle Elliott, Producer: Mr. Jesse L. Stevenson, Stylist: Mr. Darnell Howard. Without these people in my life, I would not be where I am today and I would like to say to them, “Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication to me. “ To all of my fans around the world, thank you for your love and support, I owe you! This one is for the “Grown Folks”! Love REB

I know that you have worked with artists like Queen Latifah, Toni Braxton & Brian McKnight. What was your most memorable/favorite experience? www.flyerpromonow.com
