FAMILY FRIDAY NIGHT IN PLAY Put Friday night “in play” for the whole family! Parents get a night out and peace of mind while the kids are cared for in a safe space with plenty of friends, healthy food, and active fun. At every Friday Night In Play, trained Y counselors will supervise a themed craft, active game options, and a kid-friendly movie for children ages 4–11. A healthy dinner and movie snack will be served. Children 3 and younger will spend the evening in the Child Watch Center with our infant and toddler caregivers. Children 4–11 will be in the Blue Gym and Community Room.

2ND ANNUAL HOOT & HOWL HALLOWEEN BASH The Missoula Y’s Hoot & Howl Halloween Bash is a healthy alternative to the sugar-rush tradition. With a Trunk-or-Treat (healthy or non-food treats encouraged), a photo booth, bounce houses, fun dance tunes, a costume contest, apple bob, spooky swim, scary sports, creepy climbing, and haunted school bus for the thrill seekers, there’s something fun for everyone at this family-friendly event. Tell your friends to join the Y on Halloween and we will waive their joining fees! Day & Time: Mon, Oct 31, 5–7:30 p.m. Fee: $1 per person

FAMILY FUN TIME We believe families need a place to play together. Family Fun Time at the Y provides an indoor, allweather play place where parents are welcome to join in the fun! Activities include two bouncy houses, tumbling mats, bucket stilts, scooters, Hula hoops, and much more. Tables and comfy chairs to sit and have a snack or take a break and chat are provided as well. They’ll help care for the younger children while learning valuable life skills with our Y counselors leading the way. SPORTS SPORTS PROGRAMS STICKS & SKILLS LACROSSE (AGES 7–11) Beginning players will learn about the great game of lacrosse in a fun, co-ed environment. No equipment is required! We will provide sticks for all and play in a non-contact manner. Players will practice the basic skills of passing, catching, dodging, and shooting while learning about the rules of the sport in scrimmages. Sessions:

Rookie Soccer addresses the physical, emotional and social needs of a growing child, ensuring a positive introduction to the game of soccer and organized athletic instruction.

Bitty Ball will introduce basketball fundamentals to your little basketball player. Parent involvement is not required, but is recommended. Small equipment will be used for increased success.

Y staff has developed a curriculum that will entertain your child in a safe and fun environment while teaching them the fundamentals of the game.

Leagues are designed for kids to learn the fundamentals of basketball in a fun, positive environment. Practices are one hour per week at the Y. Games are held on Friday evenings or Saturday afternoons at local schools or the Y. Jerseys are provided. All divisions have a girls league and a boys league.

Pre-K and kindergarten divisions are co-ed. Grades 1–6 are separated by gender. The middle school division may be co-ed depending on enrollment. Practice times, soccer ball sizes, game lengths, and field sizes are based on grade levels. Required: cleats or tennis shoes (cleat swap is available at games) and shin guards. Practices are held at neighborhood parks and schools. Games are held Sunday afternoons. If divisions are short in participants they will combine with one of the other divisions. Our highly trained staff that are ready to help you make this your best off season and reach your basketball goals. Lessons will be planned based on your current skill level and goals. Collectively, Y’s are the largest not-for-profit organizations in the nation and benefit from the leadership of more than 600,000 volunteers. The Y Youth Sports Department is no different. Each year we have more than 600 volunteers that range in responsibility from head coach to coordinating practice times for teams, to officiating. YOUTH/TEEN ACTIVE 6 The Y offers all Missoula County sixth graders FREE one-year Y memberships to help develop healthy lifestyles! Active 6 participants have full access to the Y facility and activities. Participants also are able to register for structured afterschool health and wellness programming. See page 19 for more details.

YOUTH AQUATICS PARENT/CHILD LESSONS (AGES 6 MOS–2 YRS)*

SWIMMING POOL RENTALS

This nationally-recognized Y program for infants, toddlers, and their parents teaches water adjustment for each developmental level. Fall Sessions 1 & 2: T/Th 6:05–6:35 p.m. Fall Sessions 2 & 3: Sat 10:40–11:10 a.m.

The Missoula Y swimming pool can be rented for birthday parties, family reunions, or any special group that wants to enjoy the water. Fee: $80, plus $20 rental deposit (Members and Non-Members) for 2 hours; up to 15 people. $20/ hour will be added for extra lifeguard staff for groups with more than 15 swimmers.

CHILDCARE & SCHOOL GROUPS The Y welcomes requests from childcare and school groups for group lessons in the morning or early afternoon. Please arrange 30 days in advance through the Aquatics Office. Fees: 5 Lessons $30/participant 10 lessons $44/participant

PRIVATE LESSONS (AGES 3–18)

Private swimming lessons are for those who want extra attention or have unique schedules. One-on-one lessons are arranged through the Aquatics Office. Each lesson is 30 minutes in length. Submit your request at the Welcome Center. You will be notified once an instructor is confirmed. Payment is due at the first class. Fee: 5 Lessons

SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS (AGES 3–18) Designed to serve families with multiple children or friends ages 3 or older who wish to learn to swim together. Each lesson is 30 minutes in length. Please complete a Private Swimming Lesson Request form and submit it to the Welcome Center. You will be notified once an instructor is confirmed. Payment may be made at the first class. YOUTH AQUATICS

YOUTH AQUATICS DISCOUNTED ONE-MONTH TRIALS FOR NEW SWIMMERS (AGES 6-18) New swimmers receive a $25 discount off the first month’s fees and a 30-day trial period to swim with their age group crew before completing required USA swimming registration. After this period swimmers must pay the regular monthly program fees, and register and pay for USA Swimming Dues. Monthly trials start at the beginning of each month and end on the last scheduled practice day of each month.

New swimmers contact Kirby Beierle (kbeierle@ymcamissoula.org) for group assignment. It is our goal to make sure we keep our dues as low as possible for MYST. The following discount opportunities are offered to all competitive swimmers: • Some monthly fees are prorated based on closure dates during regularly scheduled practices for each crew • Swimmer get swimmer discount • Multiple child discount • Friends of MYST sponsorship discount • No joiner fee for MYST families who sign up for a Y Family Membership

MYST (MISSOULA Y SWIM TEAM) TIGER SHARKS PRE-COMP SWIM TEAM (AGES 5 & UP) This pre-competitive swim team combines a fun atmosphere with emphasis on improving technique and endurance in two 45-minute weekly practices. Beginning participants must be able to swim 25 yards of any stroke. New swimmers should contact the Aquatics Office for more information. YOUTH ACTIVE 6 – Changing lives one 6th grader at a time. Active 6 is all about helping 6th graders get active, stay healthy and make the right choices that will ultimately define the type of adults our kids turn into.

CLIMBING Climb Mt. YMCA, our 28-foot climbing wall! Mt. YMCA features a totally natural, seamless rock face with climbing routes set for beginners and advanced climbers. DEEP WATER RUNNING If you’re looking for a cool alternative to running, or you’ve been injured and want to keep in shape, or you just want to add a new element to your running routine, water running can help! The basic idea is that you are running, but since you are suspended in water there is no wear and tear on your body. This class is designed so that anyone from a beginner to an elite racer will benefit.
