WELCOME TO THE Y

MORE THAN A PAYCHECK For primary teachers in our preschools, the Y is more than a paycheck—it’s a way to make a lifelong impact on Missoula children. Meet Chloé, a dedicated preschool teacher in the Missoula Family Y’s Development Center. The Development Center offers four- and fiveday preschool options for children 25 months to five years of age. Led by highly trained teachers, children in the Development Center are taught a curriculum that instills Y core values and have opportunities participate in activities like swim lessons and Rookie Sports. With a master’s degree in education, Chloé joined the Y family a year ago. “I chose to work at the YMCA because of its history and ongoing accessibility to families,” she says. As a primary teacher at the Development Center, Chloé loves teaching the children math and science. When you stop by the Development Center you might find children engaged in hands on activities led by teachers like Chloé, scoring their first goal in Rookie Sports, or seated around tables enjoying nutritious meals and snacks together. “My favorite memories of teaching involve engaging children in learning,” Chloé says. “I love seeing the ‘light’ go on as I read or ask questions.” The Y believes all Missoula children deserve access to high-quality education, regardless of income. That’s why the Y offer financial assistance to qualifying families. Learn more about our preschools on page 6.
