Party, our Anchor Spaghetti Dinner and next is the District Fall Council. Thank you so much to EVERYONE that helped to make these events possible. You all played a part with set up, working and clean up and together we made it all happen and most importatnly we were successful once again! I am looking forward to attending Fall Council this year to learn new things in our Pilot World, visit with old friends from our District, meet some new friends and spend the weekend with Cindy, Carole, Nancy, Beth and Crystal. We are going to make some wonderful memories once again and more than likely laugh until we cry a few times. I look forward to seeing all of you at our November "Thanksgiving Meeting" on November 19th when we start to celebrate the holiday season together with our Pot Luck dinner. This will also be a great time to recap on the great year we have had so far and what is yet to come. Sending my love and hugs to you all!!!

Pilot Club of Ocala - 1955-1965 During the late years of the 1940's or early years of the 1950's Ocala experienced an evolution of sorts. Pine Street was built west of the downtown area greatly relieving The Square of through traffic. Road 200 was four laned and Oclawaha Avenue became Silver Springs Boulevard. Growth changed a small southern town to an emerging city. The Pilot Club of Ocala kept a steady course and prominent position. Throughout the decade they maintained a membership of 35-40 hard working, dedicated ladies. The 1955 year was full of activity including a three year commitment of $100's to Little League Baseball and a Nurse Scholarship. At this time they requested and were granted the return of the FSU $1000 Scholarship Fund as it was felt it would serve better locally. Funds raised through the annual Christmas Dance were used to help supply the Red Cross Closet with chairs and other items for the handicapped. It was during this year that the Pilot Teen Club requested and received a charter to become a Pilot International Anchor Club. The Anchor Club Charter banquet was held May 27th, 1958. Also in that year the District and Pilot International named the Pilot CLub of Ocala as the Club of the Year for Public Service. Somtime back the Board of County Commission began a drive to establish a Senior Citizen's Home and in 1957 Pilot was asked to be a big part of that movement. Funds raised through most of the Pilot work was set aside for this purpose. In October of 1965 the County Commission called for a conference with the Pilot Club of Ocala regarding this project. Unfortunately, Pilot was advised to divert those funds to other work as the Senior Citizen's Home was not to be. No word was given at this point as to where those funds were used. Since it was near the end of this decade, we may hear more in the next report. This had to be a difficutl time for the membership. Smaller donations were made in the usual manner to groups where help was needed. During this period a doll project was added to the Christmas Dance. The doll was equipped with an extensive handmade wardrobe and brought in $519 in 25¢ tickets. The Christmas Dance was dropped in 1960 as apparently the City Audtiorium was in need of renovation and no longer a proper venue. Pilot activities went on with such things as the Concession Stand at the Quarter Horse Show. They participated in the Christmas Parade by sponsoring the Santa Claus float. Aside from the afore mentioned projects, funds were used to help with Cancer, Heart, 4H, New Hope School, Salvation Army, Pilot House, United Appeal and continuing needs of the Girl Scout Little House. On a happy note it was during this period that Pilot International won the National Award for Patriotic Service to the US for selling 4.5 million dollars in Savings Bonds.
