Petco Supports Animal Welfare Groups SPRINGFIELD- Every year, Petco works with the Petco foundation to help support thousands of grassroots programs and organizations that help with animal
stress. A positive result of this is fewer animals end up in shelters or are left abandoned on the street. They participate in local adoptions and spay and neuter
welfare. They also help to educate animal parents and reduce the number of homeless animals that are put down each year. Petco sees the importance between the bond of animal lovers and animals. There are many things Petco does to help with animal welfare. Petco proudly donates pet food, supplies, and
campaigns and

Ways To Volunteer Step 1: Find a shelter near you. Search Petfinder, then enter your zip code to find a local shelter near you. Write down the phone number or the address of the shelter. Step 2: Contact that shelter. After you have found the shelter that is convenient for you to volunteer at, call the shelter or go in and ask what you can do to help. Step 3: If they say you are too young to help or they don't need any assistance, here are some ideas you could throw at them if they don't want you to handle the animals:
Clean cages or outdoor areas
Make phone calls or do office work
Decorate the shelter for special events or holidays
If you are good with computers, make them a website or Facebook page with their permission
Help advertise pets that need a good home by taking pictures and making flyers to hang around your neighborhood or school
Foster a pet if you are able to take in a pet

Meet the Editor Missy Chott, 21, is a communications major at Benedictine University at Springfield. She has plans to graduate in May 2013. Missy is a proud pet owner and has one dog and four cats. She is against animal cruelty, which inspired
her to get the word out about animal welfare groups and what you can do to help stop animal cruelty. “I have always been an animal lover and it is so sad when you hear how cruel people can be to their pets,” Missy Says. By doing this as-
signment, Missy hopes to spread the word and let people know there are people out there to help.
