The police commissario Osvaldo walked in the hospital reception, didn’t wait for his or any turn, asked for the major.
6
He knew that for some extraordinary coincidence, the hospital bar was ok; so just the two necessary questions, a lot of hand shaking, hand waving,
and then leave for the bar.

9
The reception guy was exceedingly kind, which made him switch to rude modality.
10
The commissario was in operative uniform, with belt, holster, gun; he had been to an arrest just before the hospital.
11
12
Didn’t know what to tell the major; he knew that the rushy fool hadn’t talked with the press, thinking while stepping on the stairs, crossing the foreign nurses, eastern blondes, tried to smile, no sign of human life from their faces.
13
14
Mumbling a song made with his own funny surname, “Osvaldo, Osvaldo”, stalking along the corridor. The nurses passed by again, hearing his mumbles, this time they manifested a sign of life, a little laugh probably meaning “what an idiot”.

16
Found the major’s room, knock, enter, “Commissario Pasquale Osvaldo”, never met the major before, shaking his weak hands, he was sitting on the bed. Feeling better questions, we all got scared, the fellow seems fine enough.

“Done, ok: breakfast now” – rapidly along the corridor, down to the bar, what a nice taste of coffee. He slowly searched for the coins...
20
the hand on the side felt the empty holster. “The pistol – is gone”. Run out, run up the stairs, damned fool of a major…
21
22
Two gunshots.

“Two?”
