The Family BirthPlace expands services for delivery

Approximately 500 babies are welcomed into the world at the Family BirthPlace Center at McLaren Northern Michigan each year. Having a baby is a special time in a family’s life, and expectant mothers throughout the region rely on our hospital for this unforgettable experience. Donors to McLaren Northern Michigan have contributed to the purchase of vital equipment for laboring mothers and newborn babies.

McLaren Northern Michigan is the first labor and delivery service in the area to offer a new pain management option. Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is an approach that has grown in popularity among expecting mothers. This treatment has the ability to dull pain and lessen anxiety without risks to the baby.
