Water Wonderland

Clay Township and Algonac border the St. Clair River at the southern end of the Thumbcoast region. When visiting Harsens Island, use the ferry in Algonac to transport your car or bike across the channel. There is also a ferry service that goes from Algonac to Canada via the Walpole Algonac Ferry Ltd.

Stroll along the 1,800-foot Algonac boardwalk, fish from the shore, picnic in the waterfront park and enjoy fun outdoor concerts in the warmer months. Learn all about the local history of Chris Craft Boats and Gar Wood at the museum and the important role they played here and explore one of the world’s largest freshwater deltas.

Annual events held here are the Pickerel Tournament and Festival, Algonac Antique and Classic Boat Show, Algonac Art Fair and the Scarecrow Festival.
