Port Austin, at the tip of Michigan’s Thumbcoast, has unforgettable sunrises and sunsets. The expansive beaches and paddling adventures are just a few of the fun reasons to visit every summer. Among the popular destinations for paddle enthusiasts are Turnip Rock, sea caves, an off-shore lighthouse and the Broken Rocks Trail.
Port Crescent State Park is home to a Dark Sky Preserve including a birds of prey observation deck. Climb the sandy dunes and sunbathe while overlooking Lake Huron and Saginaw Bay.
In the summer, the farmers market and the Village Green pop-up shops are must-see shopping experiences. This friendly, walkable village has paddle sport and bike rentals at Port Austin Kayak and an outdoor beer garden. Nearby communities for day-tripping are Grindstone City, Caseville and Port Hope where the Pointe aux Barques Lighthouse is located.
Port Austin hosts many annual events including Porch Fest, Lady’s Slipper Festival and the Winter Carnival.
