Walstrom Marine has been involved with Bay Harbor one way or another since day one in 1994, originally in charge of managing and helping develop the marina. In the early 2000s the Propellers lifestyle and resort store opened downtown and was a mainstay of the shopping and retail center. Yacht sales professionals Hi Stover and Dan Kimball both have long term ties to the Bay Harbor community, and are looking forward to transitioning the Propellers location into a new boat showroom.

Hi came to work for Walstrom Marine in 2005 and has spearheaded the Bay Harbor yacht sales location ever since. Passionate about all that is Bay Harbor, he is active in the Bay Harbor Church, the “In-Towners” winter group at the Yacht Club, and can often be found at the swim club on warm summer days with his family. Hi always has the pulse of what’s going on around town; guests and residents alike often stop in to ask him about the latest Bay Harbor news.

Dan’s family moved to the Petoskey area in 1994, about the same time Bay Harbor started to rise from the remains of an old cement quarry. His father was a banker, and was involved with mortgages for some of the first houses in the new development. He can remember going to the original office (now a private home) with his dad on weekends to drop off paperwork. His first real job was as a dock attendant at the marina – a position he kept throughout high school and college for seven summers.

Although the Propellers store has closed, Walstrom Marine remains committed to Bay Harbor. The former retail store has been transformed and will have a boat or two on display this summer. Plans are in place to create a Chris Craft design center in the Bay Harbor store, the first of its kind in Michigan. Dock occupancy in the marina is at an all-time high and property around town is selling quickly. Walstrom Marine, Hi, and Dan are looking forward to being part of a promising future partnered with Bay Harbor.
