Service & Storage News

By David Lesh

Four months ago we were preparing for the unknown, but we are happy to report that the past summer was our busiest on record and we are looking forward to a productive winter season. Our Harbor Springs, Cheboygan, and Traverse City crews were all at full capacity for the entire summer keeping up with a

backlog of service requests and a record volume of new boat sales.

Heading into haul out season we are planning to be at full storage capacity for all locations and our Harbor Springs location will have an additional 12,000 square feet of heated storage space thanks to a new building located at our Hoyt St. storage facility. The new building, completed in fall of 2020, will enable us to store taller profile boats than we’ve historically been able to accommodate at our Hoyt St. storage location.

At our Cheboygan location we have increased our Travel Lift capabilities to 75 metric tons to accommodate larger vessels from around the Great Lakes. This was achieved by moving our 75 ton Travel Lift from Harbor Springs to Cheboygan via barge in August. The 70 ton lift that has been used at our Cheboygan location was then moved to Harbor Springs. Needless to say, driving a large piece of equipment onto a floating barge made us all nervous but our two crews made it look easy.

As we transition to winter lay up our Service Department crew are looking forward to getting your boat ready for the summer of 2021. From paint projects to engine rebuilds, fiberglass repairs to electronics installations, we will have all hands on deck working to prepare your boat for spring launch. Thank you for a great summer 2020!
