Learn from a panel of upperclassmen from a variety of fields about how to kick-off your career exploration and make the most of career events over the next four years. Open exclusively to first-year undergraduate students. Develop a Meaningful Elevator Pitch Sept. 19, 2019, 1:30pm Room: 3-133 Research shows that 30% of interviewers make decisions within the first five minutes of an interview. Influencing that decision is your response to the first question, which is “Tell me about yourself” or “Tell me why you are interested in this position”. Developing the right response is critical. This workshops will provide tips and guidance on how to develop your message and deliver it in an effective manner. Actual MIT PhD/Postdoc elevator pitches will be provided as handouts. Employer Resume Critiques Sept. 16 - 19, 2019 Room: E17-294 Do you want to get your resume reviewed by an employer before the fair? This workshop will provide tips and strategies on how be effective during the upcoming Career Fairs. You will learn what to do in preparation for the fair, what to do at the fair, and what to do after the fair. The fair is an excellent opportunity to connect with employers -- create a strategy that will help you in this competitive employment environment! Attend this panel discussion to learn from MIT community members (alumni and staff) about how you can better understand a company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion during the job search and interview process.
