The selected site is in Goregaon. • The site is in Goregaon East adjacent to the western express highway. • The surrounding plots mostly consist of commercial development with a small part consisting of residential zone. • The Goregaon, Ram Mandir and Jogeshwari railway stations are nearby. There are many bus stops nearby as well. • The Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport is at a distance of 8.5 km. from the site. • The Western Express Highway and the JVLR roads connect the city of Mumbai to other adjacent cities, as well as some outskirts to the suburbs, thus giving easy proximity to the site. • The Western Express Highway connects the Mumbai City to the Suburbs on the South and it connects the state of Gujarat to the North.

Target user group Main users on the site will be the people coming to visit the convention center & the IT Park employs. The former will dominate the site activities hence, the structure will be designed such that it is user centric. Secondary users will be the admin and the people putting up the exhibition. Tertiary users will be the people coming to visit the center for the ancillary programs.

Spacial Derivation The concept of the Design is movement of blocks in a particular grid so as to form internal spaces of required dimensions and to form courtyards
Movement Exploration Movement of Blocks forming variation is volume and quality of spaces
The intent of the design is to use kinetic movements for variation in the quality and functionality of spaces. This also helps create an event space. Social interaction as well as interaction of the building with the humans as well as the surrounding is the purpose of the design.
COURTYARD FORMATION These courtyards help in better light and ventilation inside the spaces

An open Plaza is formed in the centre.
Modified to form an opening in the building Four main blocks moved away from each other
Concept

-The Orientation of the building is such that the open plaza spaces face the north and the east and the convention spaces which do not require much light face the south.
-The building has fixed cored which include the services such as toilets, lift and staircase, BIMS room and AHU room. -The parking on the site is on the south as well as one basement below the building.
-The slope of the site is towards the west which is used for the basement suchh that the parking is open on one side. Thus the storm water drainage, sump pit and STP are placed accordingly.
Site Plan
9
Internal Movements of Convention Hall With the help of kinetic movements, the internal spaces in the blocks and the quality of spaces can be varied which leads to flexibility in space and functions, hence responding to the user requirements.

To Support the main program of convention centre, some ancillary programs like a museum, cafeteria, auditorium, lounge and library. These programs compliment the main centre and thus a Socio-cultural centre as a whole is developed on the site. Apart from these, an I.T. park and a small part of housing in the form of studio apartments is left for future development on the site. Thus the site as a whole forms an event place for social gathering and interaction. Kinetics is used to enhance this experience of social interaction.

The Convention halls are Mutli-Finctonal spaces. They can be used for various purposes such as conventions, concerts, sports activities, exhibitions, workshops, etc.
The design of the spaces is such that the internal spaces can be divided depenfing on the requirement, with help of kinetic partition walls. Even the central courtyard can be used as open halls. This, all these spaces for event spaces.

The Site has a slope higher on the road level and lower on the inside. Hence, during site development, the slope is used as an advantage by creating a basement for parking. when seen from the main front entrance from the highway, the basemnet cannot be seen. But when seen from the back, the site appears to be on the podium level with stilt parking on the lower level.

Arched Pargola at Entrance Plaza
This Arch roofing technology offers up to 30 meter clear span roofs completely eliminating structural support systems. When combined with superior quality steel, offers time and cost benefits. This technology has an installation capacity of 1,000 sq m per day. A space truss has members and nodes extending into three dimensions and is used as reinforcement. This Space Frame is then covered with coated steel sheets.
Features: -This system doesn’t demand any supporting structure, i.e. a truss. -No overlapping joint is required at any side/s (i.e. longitudinal or transverse). -The sideways joint is seamed by a machine, hence one cannot see any joint

-Cement Sandwich Panel is a kind of lightweight energy saving wall partition material, which uses cement fiber board as the face panel and filled with cement foam and EPS polystyrene foam particles in the center.
Fiberglass Rockwool Insulated Sandwich Panels Semi-fireproof material, flame retardant material EPS Paneluses semi-fireproof, phenol resin, and foaming polystyrene, is not burnt in fire. Perfect water proof: Surface waterproof function is excellent and it shows excellent waterproof and humidity proof effect rainy season. Excellent economical efficiency: EPS Panel is economic because of product’s standardization, quick construction and labor free reduction. Sanitary environment : EPS Panel’s surface is the zinc galvanized steel plate painted with fluorine or silicon polyester, which creates sanitary environment because it can be easily cleaned up.
