Climming or (cliff climbing) involved abseiling down the side of cliffs to gather bird eggs. The typical species targeted were Kittiwakes and Guillemots. Eggs were mostly sold locally, but some were sent to London. The trade was stopped when bird protection laws were introduced in the 1950s and made the act illegal.
