Aim & Delivery Through a well-structured and fluid itinerary of fine art exhibitions across various media, academic lectures and practical workshops, WAFI City will be transformed into a recognised centre of Arts & Culture to inspire residents and visitors alike. Masterpiece Art has already opened its third of five Galleries in WAFI City with the unwavering support and assistance of the Al Owais Cultural Council and is working on the transformation of “Khan Murjan Souk” into an interactive Museum of Emirati Culture. We are also hoping for the blessing and backing of Dubai Culture and are fortunate that WAFI City and its eminent Owners share our exciting vision for the future.

DINA GOLDSTEIN, CANADIAN/ISRAELI B. 1969

FUTURE SHOWS Dina Goldstein (born 1969) is a visual artist based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She is a photographer and pop surrealist with a background in documentary photography. Goldstein creates tableau with a nuanced visual language that places the mundane and everyday in unusual settings to inspire insight into the human condition. She is most known for her series "Fallen Princesses", created in 2007, which depicts humanized Disney Princesses placed in realistic, modern scenarios. The series envisions how the lives of these famous characters would have played out in the real world, and touches on such everyday scourges as poverty, obesity, cancer and pollution. Goldstein was awarded the Arte Laguna special prize in 2012. In 2014, Goldstein won the grand prize at Prix Virginia; her work was exhibited in Paris, France. | PENIQUE PRODUCTIONS, EST. BARCELONA, 2007 FUTURE SHOWS Penique Productions was established in Barcelona, 2007, as a collective focusing on the ephemeral installation. Since 2008, Penique has also operated from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Each project begins by identifying a unique location to construct a customised piece – the inflatable. The “balloon”, made from a lightweight plastic, grows and expands as the air becomes the supporting structure and forces the inflatable to grow, consuming all in its path. Conquered by the inflatable, the space is transformed by a new light, a new texture and a new monochrome colour. The viewer is transported via sensory experience to a setting simultaneously familiar yet new. Having lost its original function the site is given a new identity. The balloon acts as a barrier from multiple realities – framing and creating a new space – as a container, it blurs the concept of the art object. Penique offers an experience to the viewer. We have chosen WAFI Mall as our centre of excellence for the Masterpiece Project given its preeminent design envisioned by H.E. Sheikh Mana bin Khalifa bin Said Al Maktoum with striking Egyptian Architecture and rich detailing.

Our “offering” is unique and mirrors the mission statement of Dubai Culture “enhancing Dubai's position as a creative and sustainable global city for culture, heritage, arts, and literature, with the aim to empower these sectors by developing creative and innovative projects and initiatives locally, regionally, and globally.”

I have personally been inspired by my close friend and Partner, Mr Ali Al Owais, who has been instrumental in encouraging us to take this Project forward. Through our conversations, I have been privileged to learn about the Al Owais Cultural Council whose mission again mirrors ours. The synergies are endless and our passion for Arts and Culture untameable.

We shall not just be bringing Art, but a strategy for education, cultural enhancement, academic study and family connectivity through the appreciation of Art spanning Old Masters, Impressionism, Contemporary, Visual Arts, Islamic Calligraphy and Sculpture. UAE

I am personally most excited by the planned “Open Art Studio” where major living International Artists will have a “residency” to showcase their work “live” and at the same time educate families, children and Art Aficionados about their style and inspiration creating conversation and connectivity. Adult & Children Workshops are also planned to provide a hybrid “Educational & HandsOn” experience learning about Art though the ages with some practical studio work afterwards.

My conversations over the last 6 months with my Emirati, Pan-GCC and Ex-Patriate friends has solidified my understanding that what we are bringing is highly desired and the thirst for knowledge a key driver in our strategy.

The backing of Dubai Culture will, for me and my eminent Teams in the UAE and London, be a major show of support and joint vision and we are excited to work closely with you Ins’Allah in the near future.

Mark is the Founder and Shareholder of the Masterpiece Art.

Talal has an MBA in Strategic Management & Leadership and is currently completing his PHD at Aberystwyth University, Wales UK. He has wealth of international business and management expertise having worked and studied in both the UAE and UK.

Alex is the international Gallery Director responsible for gallery operations, curation and senior client relations. Working closely with the Directors on delivery of exhibitions, sales and wider projects, Alex brings a large body of experience gained from working at leading London-based dealerships and freelance art advisory. Having worked with European Old Master, Nineteenth Century, Post-War & Modern, Contemporary art (also Indian & Islamic, Latin American and Outsider art) Alex has an eclectic artistic taste, knowledge and appreciation.

He has a First Class Honours Masters in Land Economy from University of Cambridge and leads the Masterpiece service offering and relationship with global clients. He has significant experience in working alongside individuals and families through their international expansion and wealth preservation and acts as a confidant and advisor to all clients. Over the decades, Mark has overseen the acquisition, management and sale of a broad range of art, antiques and other objects of great value on a global scale. His personal taste in artwork can be found in biblical theme representations within the Italian and Dutch Old Masters, as well as the French impressionists. Mark has also been heavily involved in Art recovery and restitution, successfully assisting in a number of high profile Art restitution cases. Mark has been resident in UAE for the last 12 years working extensively on GCC Clients.

He is a strategic thinker and operations executive who is able to consolidate ideas, pull together teams and execute projects with accuracy, precision and dynamism. He has spent 12 years serving the Sharjah Government in Senior positions and is currently the Head of Sharjah Alkhalidia Municipality Center. Talal has a strong UAE national, GCC and international network developed over many years of trusted counsel and advisory to both individuals and corporations.

Alex has a degree in History of Art from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London (SOAS).

Ali comes to the Masterpiece Art as the Emeritus Senior Advisor with vast experience within the GCC business world and well versed in art through The Al Owais Cultural Foundation.

Neil is a UK Chartered Accountant and business leader with a deep background across operations, regulatory compliance and finance. He acts as Strategic Advisor to Masterpiece Art and is also COO of Patron Law. He was previously a Director at BDO LLP and Duff & Phelps Limited in addition to spending a number of years at Barclays. He has significant international experience in developing, leading and managing businesses and teams across various specialities with a demonstrated focus on financial services and Fintech. He has worked as both an advisor and in-house across the spectrum from start-ups to multinationals. He is passionate about building / transforming businesses and designing proportionate frameworks and teams to support growth.

He holds the position as Director of the Emirates NBD Bank P.J.S.C. [Public joint-stock company] since March 2013. Mr. Al Owais is the Chairman of the Al Owais Group, United Food Company P.J.S.C., United Can Company LLC and Moderna Group LLC. He is the Vice Chairman of Dubai Refreshment Co. P.J.S.C., Modern Bakery & Director of Emirates Islamic Bank P.J.S.C., Dar Al Takaful and Oman Refreshment Company. As Chairman and a Board Member of various other companies, Mr. Al Owais is instrumental in bringing about vast changes through his entrepreneur skills and business contacts. Mr. Al Owais holds a bachelor degree in Business Applied Science.

Annette Vignere BSc (Hons)

Chief Operating Officer Annette is responsible for the commercial and artistic success of Masterpiece Art. Annette leads all aspects of gallery operations, including inventory, styling, ongoing brand development and expansion. She has over 15 years experience in client relationships and historically represented the Latvian Chamber of Commerce in the UK. Annette has significant international experience and regularly leads the Masterpiece projects on an international basis including spending significant time in the UAE. Annette is an Honorary Graduate of Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London.
