Scarborough with Two Bays by Edward Bawden, 1931 On loan from North Yorkshire County Council, Scarborough Library
This playful collage epitomises a vibrant seaside town. I am particularly drawn to several of the characters, like the lady on the beach in the red spotted dress who has a matching canine companion, and the gentleman bather changing behind the wall of the East Pier. If you look closely you can see many places on the map still exist today, such as the Italian Gardens at South Cliff. Katie, Operations Assistant
