The Weekly Fitzrovia emulates the quarterly Fitzrovia News publication which documents community and offers advice and community support to locals.

of how Fitzrovia is changing.
This project documents the lived experience of Ftizrovia from the perspective of local people. We bridged economic divides and crossed multiple race, faith and class lines to uncover the authenticity of Fitzrovia as highly polarised place with immense inequality in wealth and opportunity. This video is in coversation with (to name just a few):
This project uncovers the truth about the loss of independent butcher’s, delicatessens and furniture shops, and how they have been replaced with an abundance of trendy coffee shops and eateries, eroding the spirit of community and enhancing the feeling of placelessness. Similarly, the project documents why middle-class families are moving out of the district to more affordable parts of London, and the harsh reality that they have been replaced by polarised communities of extremely wealthy people monopolising local real estate, alongside the most vulnerable in society, entirely reliant on the street for shelter and community provisions to survive.

North Fitzrovia is a quaint and luxurious urban village, with a reputation as a home for London’s media and architectural industries. It boasts both private and public hospitals, a rich, diverse cultural heritage and numerous restaurants serving food from every corner of the globe. Residents said they felt “safe” and that the area’s strategic proximity to the West End made it a convenient place to live, work and play.

Inequality & social deprivation?
MITIGATING INEQUALITY: UNEXPECTED ALLIANCES However, all is not lost in Fitzrovia, The Fitzrovia Neighbourhood and News Associations were at the heart of this project, as we explored the multidimensional schemes they drive forward. Most notably, the Soup Kitchen partners with local clothing giant Lipsy London who provide volunteers and donate clothes to the organisation. Similarly, the Imam’s at the Muslim World League Mosque have started a multi-faith initiative with the local Church and Jewish faith group where community wide issues are discussed.
