In fact, according to a recent Pew survey, at least 17% of cell phone users do the majority of their browsing online from their phone, rather than from a traditional laptop or desktop computer. Additionally, 55% of adult cell phone owners use their phone to go online during at least one part of their cell phone’s life. These numbers should demonstrate the importance of developing a mobile website.

The first thing that comes to mind is probably creating a mobile application that users may use to download or alternatively a mobile website. At first glance, both mobile websites and mobile apps may look the same and getting to decide which one to go for depends on a number of issues.

Such include the audience you intend to target, the budget you have available, the reason as to why you need it and the features that you require.


One can only guess where things will go from here, but with tablets increasingly becoming mainstream, you can bet that laptops will soon be phasing out and people will be looking more and more towards websites geared towards more mobile “touch-screen friendly� interfaces, and mobile web developers will be the ones to create the future.

There are many who believe that is the way of the future. Ten, five, or even three years from now, laptops and desktop computers may seem like archaic technologies.
