There were two problems in the old shop on Moltkestrasse

"The old rooms in the house on the Moltkestraße have become more and more crowded in recent years and thus much narrower," says company boss Thomas Hammer. On 150 square meters, one could not present a lot and above all not clear his offer. And besides, one could not necessarily describe the parking problem as satisfactory. "There was simply no room to park his car near the store," Hammer said. One more reason to look for something new. New store in Zörbiger Straße: Rooms are three times bigger The businessman with the former dealership has succeeded in all cases. "We spent a lot of time thinking about where to present ourselves to our customers," says the head of the family business. After a year of searching, they then took the step to Zörbiger Straße. "In this large showroom we now have about three times as much space as downtown," says Hammer Junior, whose father ran the small business in the city for 20 years. New sales rooms ensure new quality "What we start now has a different quality," the boss knows. With this, Thomas Hammer means the clear arrangement of the existing bicycle brands combined with a large number of equipment and accessories that are necessary for the cyclist. He points to the wide and clear display, in which helmets, backpacks and bicycle bags of all sizes and makes can be found.

Glass workshop: Customers see how their wheels are repaired 150 wheels now fit in the glazed customer area. And a small attraction has also come up with a hammer: a glass workshop. There, customers can look best bike us inside and see how their new bike is assembled or the old bike is repaired.

In addition, the collection and delivery service will be expanded. "For many bike enthusiasts, it is problematic to create the broken wheel in the workshop. Quickly you have paint scratches on the car or on the bike because it usually can not drive anymore, "said Hammer.

Broken wheels are picked up at the customer An employee and a half-time force should in future, therefore, pick up the broken wheel at the customer and extend the repaired bike - by the way, after only 24 hours - again. And

Fahrrad-Hammer offers even more service, such as leasing and financing display, also a warranty extension. The manager of the family business, in which mother Angelica is still working, is working on a bike pass for his customers, a sort of digital checkbook. After the purchase, the bicycle can be registered there, the invoice can be stored digitally and reviews can be noted. Bicycle Hammer: a business with a long tradition "The bike pass offers added value. He raises the resale value. And if it gets stolen, you can easily access your data. " Fahrrad-Hammer can now look back on almost 95 years of company history. At the age of just 16, businessman Alfred Hammer began pulling from house to house in 1923 and selling spare parts for bicycles, thus earning his first bike. With the marriage and the appanage of his wife, he was able to buy 400 frames - the real start for the family business, which later son Roland and from 1 January 2014 grandson Thomas took over.
