New Motorcycles 2018: Retro stays trendy Cologne/Essen -The motorcycle market is booming, the stock is growing. In 2008, around 3.57 million motorcycles were registered in Germany, compared to 4.31 million in 2017, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). More and more models and types compete for buyers. Relaunched genres like Scrambler or Café Racer appeal to younger customers. Motorcycling is considered cool by many. Here is a selection of new machines for 2018:
BMW K 1600 Grand America: The new Supertourer draws its six-cylinder 118 kW / 160 hp and offers plenty of space thanks to three suitcases. With the 26-liter tank, the range increases, the electronic suspension to iron out bad roads. Price: from 25 070 Euro. BMW F 850 GS: The Enduro gets a new engine with 850 cc and 70 kW / 95 hp. Stability
control, four driving modes, ABS tilt and traction control are designed to increase safety. Price: from 11 700 euros.
Benelli TRK 502: Big and cheap is the Benelli TRK 502. The enduro of the Chinese manufacturer Qianjiang offers a 500 cc engine and 35 kW / 48 hp. Price: from around 6000 euros. Ducati Panigale V4: The super sports car weighs only 198 kilograms and makes about 158 kW / 214 hp. Curve ABS, so-called wheelie control, launch control and shift assistance to ensure a safe ride. The price: at least 22 000 euros. Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak: In addition to super athletes, Ducati also successfully builds travel enduros. The Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak with 1260 cc delivers 116 kW / 158 hp. Price: from 23 900 euros. Ducati Scrambler 1100: With the Scrambler series subsidiary Ducati has a bestseller in the program. Honda CB 1000 R: With the naked bike CB 1000 R Honda puts a purist motorcycle with 20 hp more on now 107 kW / 145 hp and LED headlights on the wheels. Price: from 13 290 euros. Honda CB 300 R: A few numbers smaller than the CB 1000 R falls from May / June, the CB 300 R from. With a minimalist design and 23 kW / 31 hp, it is intended as a beginner bike. KTM 790 Duke: With a new 800 cc two-cylinder engine and up to 77 kW / 105 hp, the KTM Duke is to shake up the market of road motorcycles. Traction control, cornering ABS and four driving modes contribute to safety. Price: from around 11,000 euros Suzuki jumps on the retro train: round headlight, clippers and short bench are features of the machine with 650 cc V2 cylinder engine and 56 kW / 76 hp. Price: from about 7000 euros. Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster: Triumph has been successfully surfing the retro wave for a few years now. The Speedmaster relies on a 1200 cc two-cylinder with 57 kW / 77 hp. Price: from around 14,000 euros. Triumph Tiger 1200 XC: Like BMW and Ducati, Triumph also has a big travel enduro in its program. The new Tiger 1200 relies on a three-cylinder with 1250 cc and 104 kW / 141 hp. Price: from 17 800 euros. Yamaha Niken: The nikings immediately stand out with their two 15-inch front wheels. According to the manufacturer, the tricycle with tilting technology is expected to hit the market in July and is powered by a three-cylinder 847 cc engine with an output of around 85 kW / 115 hp. Price: still unknown. Zero DS ZF14.4: Motorcycles do not always have to have an internal combustion engine.
