INTRODUCTION My portfolio presents the story of my research. I would like to show the process from the sequences task to Unit 1, through the exhibition and my own research. This book starts from sequences where I work with the field of light. The impact of colour and light on understanding objects. After deeper study and observations my topic changed into proxemics, semi-fixed features and human interactions to objects. The outcome of portfolio is based on 3 month study.

SEQUENCES
SEQUENCE 1 LIBRARY During my research in the library I found many interesting journals. I select the page from Domus the International Design Review from July/August 1994 and the page from the Frame magazine Number 115. The first publication is about French industrial designer Serge Mouille who designed the collection of metalwork lamps. He was the designer in the period of industralization in Europe, it means that in 1950 all designed products were mass producessed. As a person whose background was connected to metallurgy and silversmithing he had respect for original creation procces. At the page I choosed there is a selection of black wall lamp diffusors. Lamps were inspired by the forms of nature, like flames, snakes or eyes and of women body. The diffrent shapes represents the deep exploration in material, which is metal. Each of the lamps gives various shadows, reflections and glove. The second page is representing the contemporary “Dawn light” designed by Sabine Marcelis. She is the Dutch/New Zealand product designer which collaborates with diffrent designers, industry and brands. Sabine works comes from varied fields. Her collection of lamps in an exploration of the relationship between light and colour inspired by time when sun, clouds and sky creates hues. From her point of view the function comes from an experience. The page I chose shows the perfect reading lamp made from neon and coloured red and orange glass. With this project she wanted to “showcase the air”. I think that lamp represents transparency of sky and smooth connection between ground and air. Selected pages illustrates interesting connection about the ways of exploring the function of light and the relation between products and surrounding. Both artists Serge and Sabine shows their light work as a piece= of object that illuminate light and gives a source of light into the surrounding. The forms and materials of objects are extremely diffrent which means to me that the production technologies of century are becoming more challenging for humans and the use of lamp is changing. I think that both lamps are synthetic but each of objects depicts varied characteristics. The Dawn light does not have a strict visible function of light. It is a tube with neon connected with orange class which is melting with the space. For me the lamp is smooth and delicate and pretend to look like a piece of art not a reading lamp. In the contrast the Serge Mouille lamps are well-shaped with curved line. The source of light is seen as the bright interior of lamp. The stabilisation of lamp is based on thin tube where all wires are hidden.

SEQUENCE 2 WATCH This part present the way I analyzed and compared two video clips. I present the spatial atmosphere through adding titles into clips. The film made by Spike Jonze “Her” and music video of the song Adele “Rolling In The Deep” reflects emotions throught the space. In both the light is playing an important rule in atmosphere. The changing light is creating the bright or dark atmosphere. The physical bounduaries are seen as closed composition which means that both actor and singer where in room. Also both clips are based on single person and the interaction with them to surrounding.

SEQUENCE 3 READ
From the height of the central terrace a marble staircase descended, ceremonious and solemn, between smoothly running balustres and architectural vases and flowing broadly to the ground, seemed to arrange its train with deep crusty. The middle heart of the house is a wooden stairwell, endless and peaceful. Light balustrade brightness on the intense shimmering steps, seemed to reflect sparks of fires. Along the blidingly walls, the colors of dove merge with golden vein of day. Jaworska M. (2017)

A central stair leads up to the rooftop terrace. Again, a glass door linking the two areas introduces yet another brilliant way of light, views, cool breezes, and solar gain to transmit indoors. Rethinking the typical dark stairwell, this luminous staircase acts as a higly effective transmitter of sunlight into both levels of the house. The central staircase connects the ground floor with glazzed roof. This airy and inviting space incorporates a large south-fancing window which supply natural daylight. Balustrade is made of glass and merge with polished oak starcaise.

SEQUENCE 4 MAKE The aim of this sequence is to find a virtual relationship in a physical form. To make a spatial models first I searched for a painting and an adevertisement, then I created models which presents the diffrences and similiarities of them. In both situations I analyzed the source of light and atmosphere inside and outside.
Interior. 1899. Vilhelm Hammershoi. Oil painting. The art work is inside the exhibition at National Gallery. The light comes from the glazzed ceiling and it supply the natural daylight. The wall is clear, bright grey and smooth without any decorations. This painting hang between two bigger scale paintings. The softness of shadows creates the interior of exhibition. The space is minimalistic to facilitate the connection between the viewer and painting. The details of painting are good to see and the space is balanced between light and darkness.
Aida. 2017. Wall adertisement. The advertisement is situated on the facade of the heavily decorative building. The space is surrounded by many other advertisements which not connects with each other. The colors and style of facade it is not suitable to the minimalistic advertisement.

EXHIBITION
EXHIBITION COMBINE The exhibition is aimed to combine all the sequences and present the density of my work. The exhibition is the part of presentation of sequences. The project presents the installation about behaviour of color and light. The aim of model is to show how light affects on various spatial forms. The first step I made to prepare exhibition was model making. I preapred 8 models made from white foamboard the and colorfull filters. Each of model has different apperature which differs the way of seeing the shadows from sharp to soft. These forms where smiliar to lens it is because at the begining I started to work with natural light at see how the density of colour is changing. My main purpose was to observe how impact of colour helps understanding the forms. The second step was preparation of lightning box. To create my installation I used a box. Inside the box I set up the combination of varied models and the only way to see them was from apperatures. The apperatures where made with different angles which mean that viewers only see the part of installation.

EXHIBITION What happend during the show ? During the exhibition I observed how light work in my laboratory and affect people. This experiment has shown that without human interactions this laboratory not become effective. It was interesting for me to see how one object affect on body position, spatial apperance and distance between object and viewer.

FORM LABORATORY POSTER To create the poster of exhibition I overlapped graphic forms and add human silhouette. The body position of them is a result of form composition. This poster depicts human relationship with my 3D models.

RESEARCH PROCESS
THE OBSERVATIONS At the begining of my research I was interested in lightning fixtures and behaviour of color and light. Due to the observations, sequencing process and exhibition I found a new context. After the exhibition I realised that my research is based on human factors and human interactions with objects. This might be because of the fact that I looked at object as functional form. I thought about function of my installation and I started to ask myself what if my work will be directed to human body. At the end, it was enjoyable to observe how viewers look and touch the installation. This part of my portfolio is dedicated to my research through practise. According to what I already made, I collect my ideas into new graphics, drawings and models. I experiment with the scale and body position. This practise might become useful at the next step of my project.

RESEARCH PROCESS MODELS The next step in my research is to work with scale. To achived this process I practised with 3D models. In this situation I used human model to compare the scale. The result of experiment depicts fact that the models became an architectural structure.

RESEARCH PROCESS GRAPHICS According to my poster of Form Laboratory I made selection of graphics connected to overlapping forms. Each of the attempt has different function. For example seating or standing function.

RESEARCH PROCESS LINEAR SKETCHES At this part I would like to show my recent work at body position. I photographed standart body position when human is seating and standing. According to these pictures I layout the points where body is supported and I draw linear sketches. As a result of this activity I came up with shapes which reminds about structures of furniture. Body shape is the basic for furniture installation.

THE CONCLUSION At the begining of my research I was interested in lightning fixtures and behaviour of color and light. Due to the observations and sequencing process I found a new context. After the exhibition I realised that my research is based on human factors, human interactions with objects, body position, proxemics and semi-fixed features. The main fields of study which I am mostly interested now are history of furniture, design sociology and materiality in design. During my research I came up with project proposition. How human use furniture in daylife routine ? How space narrate with objects ? As a final project of my exploration I would like to create a furniture as multifunctional installation.
