Born to design. The most frequent question I get asked, “Why did you decide to go into Interior Design?”. The simplest question, yet the most difficult one to answer. I always say, I didn’t choose Interior Design, it chose me. Whenever I was little my dad and I would sit at the kitchen table and draw floor plans of our dream homes. That’s where my passion for Design started. As far back as I can remember, I would sit in the halls of elementary school and sketch exteriors of homes. I never had any doubts that I wanted to be a designer whenever I grew up. Something fascinated me about the places we grow up in, they define who we are, and how we live. That’s what led me to where I am today.
I'm Madison Vincent, a 23 year old Design Assistant, currently residing in Naples, Florida. Originally born and raised in Springfield, Missouri, I relocated to Pittsburg, Kansas to receive a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, a minor in Construction Technology, and an emphasis in Graphic Design. Since college, I accepted a Design Assistant position at a high end residential firm and relocated to the sunshine state. I am continually trying to push myself and constantly learn new things, that is why I am on a mission to find my next design home. I am a dedicated, hardworking individual, that is always trying to become better in everything I do. I am passionate about design, and believe every space should be designed thoughtfully, beautifully, and functionally.

EXPERIENCE
Relocating myself to Naples, Florida wouldn’t have been possible if I wasn’t given the opportunity to start my career in Interior Design without the love of Interiors By Design West. Since being an Interior Design Assistant with Design West for a little over a year now, I have gained knowledge, experience, and relationships that I can only be blessed with the opportunity I was given. It is now my time to appreciate the knowledge I have received to help benefit and grow with a new company, to gain more experience into becoming the professional I desire to be in the field.

NOLA SHOTGUN
Located in the Upper City off Valance Street, Will and Melissa Moseley want to maintain the historic outside appearance of the home to fit the Bracket Style Architecture of the New Orleans Shotgun. An open floor plan will allow for gathering and highlight all the architectural elements in the home, such as hardwood flooring and crown molding. The design maximizes storage space as well as height and natural light. Energy efficiency and sustainable practices were implemented throughout the space.

ANOTHER TIME Signet Coffee, a Pittsburg Kansas local coffee shop, plans to revive the upstairs of their coffee shop, and turn it into a local Air B&B. Bringing in industrial elements, tied in with high end glamour we brought the big city feel into the small town atmosphere. Another Time brought local historic elements from the past, to create a place people will come and relax, yet come back again, another time.

THE HIVE Hive is designed to impact, engage, and enhance inspiration among designer’s from all over the globe, while visiting the IIDA booth at Orgatec 2018. This space is creating an environment that is inviting, visually dynamic engaging, and inspiring to all cultures. The open concept was developed to create a coworking space that is beneficial for inspiration and to engage in conversation. A modern setting with the use of clean lines and natural colors were used to create an impact, and relate to cultures around the globe. Drawing inspiration from the Beehive, a hive is a central location where all bees come together to nest. This mimics human social order from cooperation, productivity, and social hierarchy. Bees represent hard work, perseverance, teamwork, selflessness, and constancy. IIDA and the members involved are dedicated individuals who reflect the same qualities as bees. We used this inspiration to relate to IIDA and incorporate all designers around the world coming together to engage, inspire, recharge, and enhance their wellbeing
REJUVENATE Baby Boomers account for over 40 percent of the United States population, and by 2030, 1 out of every 5 Americans will be over the age of 60. As people get older, they need assistance with day to day activities. Some need assistance with physical changes, while others need reassurance of their mental state. As this generation continues to get older, there is a demand for facilities to accommodate all their potential needs. The Kansas City, Overland Park area is home to over 400 thousand residents. Of those residents, the baby boomer population accounts for 19 percent. Many of the living facilities in the area provide assisted living, but there are none that aim to increase their overall healing. Rejuvenate will be dedicated to healing their wellbeing, assisting their everyday needs, while giving them the freedom they deserve. Rejuvenate is a community that will provide living assistance to the upcoming baby boomer population and will serve as a facility to increase the health, healing, and longevity of each resident’s lives.
Rejuvenates mission is to create a supportive and nurturing atmosphere thus empowering each resident to be more relaxed while having an opportunity to engage in the community. Biophilic design incorporates natural elements and nature views into modern design to maintain the strong connection that humans instinctively have with nature. By incorporating biophilic design into our space we aim to re-energize our residents, revitalize their lives, and give them a new outlook on how they see the world.

NEXT A student design competition, Next is an corporate office that it on the top level of a high-rise building. Using it’s view’s to its advantage, all exterior walls were exposed glass to increase natural light and health of all occupants. The use of refurbished wood, created warmth to contrast all the bright colors used throughout the office. This space consisted of open office systems, private offices, collaboration areas, a learning zone, meeting spaces, resource library and storage, as well as a staff lounge and lunch area. To increase well being in the workplace we added a gym, and an aromatherapy room for relaxation, and a fast mental break.
SHAKE & SIP A local renovation in the heart of downtown Pittsburg Kansas, Shake & Sip bring a new atmosphere to the local beer and billiards town. Shake & Sip took place of Harry’s Dinner, a family owned homecooked restaurant, and revamped it into a new social house for tasting good treats and sipping’ on good drinks. Making use of the exposed brick, we added industrial elements and tied in country elements to make Shake & Sip home to this small town.

ARTWORK An artist since birth is how I like to describe myself. I’ve been sketching for as long as I can remember, and will continue to sketch till the day my hands fall off. It brings a sense of piece to mind, and calms my nerves whenever times get hectic. All the artwork shown has been done by myself, which includes hand sketching, and water coloring. I hope you enjoy my passion as much as I do.
