Premiere of romantic ballet «Giselle» was first held in 1841 at the Paris Opera. Legend about Wilis was poetized by Heinrich Heine. It’s legend about girls who did not endured treasons of lovers and died before the wedding, and then turned into spirits, vengeful and ruthless virgins. At St. Petersburg stage «Giselle» is stored in the version by Marius Petipa, the first choreographer of the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre in the second half of the XIX century. In the same edition show is performed in St.Petersburg Ballet named after L. Jacobson.
