He l l o ! I am Mallory Sage, a 5th year BLA student at Iowa State University. I grew up on a farm in Northeast Iowa, and this is where I developed a love for the outdoors and favor of Iowa’s rural landscape. My father is a steward of the land and has shared this value with me. This program of study is the perfect solution for matching both my artistic interest and my care for the landscape. Currently, I am seeking an entry level position within the field of Landscape Architecture that would allow for production experience in a diverse range of projects.
Capable of learning quickly, adjusting to new settings, and responding well to instruction independently and in a team environment. Able to communicate, listen, problem-solve, negotiate, and make decisions effectively.

BRUCE & CO MPA NY This project contains work that I completed during the summers of 2020 and 2021 through my internships with RITLAND+KUIPER Landscape Architects and the Jeffrey L. Bruce & Company. Working primarily with the Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program, the following pages include samples from the Feasibility Report that is presented to the community upon completion of the program. I worked independently on the renderings and text presented under the supervision of Samantha Price, PLA (Summer 2020) and David Stokes, PLA (Summer 2021). I followed a set of specifications provided by Community Visioning but was responsible for the page layout.

LINCOLN WAY LOT REDEVELOPMENT DESIGN This project is located on an empty lot in Ames’s Campus Town, IA, on Lincoln Way. The city is in a bind with local shop owners leaving portions of the block in the middle of development. This specific site is located next to the popular Cafe Beaudelaire and other restaurants. Our directive was to experiment with construction documents and create a way of passage and usable space for the students and the people of Ames, IA. I worked independently on this project.

3 UPPER HARBOR TERMINAL URBAN RENEWAL CONCEPT PLAN This project is located along the Mississippi River in the northern part of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Upper Harbor Terminal is a postindustrial site, disconnected from the city by the previous industry and Interstate 94. During the urban design studio, I focused on the morphology of a city and based my design on a block system that could diversify land use and create space for a multitude of buildings and outdoor spaces. I worked independently on this project and was nominated by my studio instructors for the 2021 inaugural Confluence Landscape Architecture Studio Prize Competition. I received an honorable mention. This project also received a Merit Award in the category of Design Unbuilt at the IA ASLA Fall Conference in 2021.

4 YSS CREEKSIDE HEALING CAMPUS This project is located east of Interstate 35 in Iowa, between Huxley and Ankeny. Our studio partnered with the Youth and Shelter Services (YSS) of Ames, Iowa, to design a campus to serve their youth residential recovery, crisis stabilization, and shelter services programs. The process began with site analysis and participatory workshops with clients and staff. The goal for this design is to serve the needs of the YSS community by telling the story of their experience following three phases of orientation, development and departure, influenced by the existing recovery program. I worked on this semester long project in partnership with Clay Silver and Josh Pollastrini, concurrent classmates in the landscape architecture program. Each rendering had influence from all group members.

Departure is when clients are prepared to apply these skills in their post campus life, and continue their story. Full Report: https://issuu.com/mksage/docs/final_report_cjm
