APOSTOLIC LETTER
Rosarium Virg inis Mariae
The Rosary of the Virgin Mary
Of the Supreme Pontiff John Paul II To the Bishops, Clergy and Faithful on the Most Holy Rosary
Excerpts from “Manner of Recitation” ANNOUNCING EACH MYSTERY
Announcing each mystery, and perhaps even using a suitable icon to portray it, as it were to open up a scenario on which to focus our attention.
LISTENING TO THE WORD OF GOD
In order to supply a Biblical foundation and greater depth to our meditation, it is helpful to follow the announcement of the mystery with the proclamation of a related Biblical passage, long or short, depending on the circumstances.
SILENCE
Listening and meditation are nourished by silence. After the announcement of the mystery and the proclamation of the word, it is fitting to pause and focus one’s attention for a suitable period of time on the mystery concerned, before moving into vocal prayer.
THE “OUR FATHER”
After listening to the word and focusing on the mystery, it is natural for the mind to be lifted up towards the Father.
THE TEN “HAIL MARYS”
This is the most substantial element in the Rosary and also the one which makes it a Marian prayer par excellence.
THE “GLORIA”
It is important that the Gloria, the high-point of contemplation, be given due prominence in the Rosary.
THE CONCLUDING SHORT PRAYER
It is worthwhile to note that the contemplation of the mysteries could better express their full spiritual fruitfulness if an effort were made to conclude each mystery with a prayer for the fruits specific to that particular mystery.
THE ROSARY BEADS
Here the first thing to note is the way the beads converge upon the Crucifix, which both opens and closes the unfolding sequence of prayer.
THE OPENING AND CLOSING
The Rosary begins with the recitation of the Creed, as if to make the profession of faith the basis of the contemplative journey about to be undertaken….The Rosary is then ended with a prayer for the intentions of the Pope, as if to expand the vision of the one praying to embrace all the needs of the Church….Is it any wonder, then, that the soul feels the need, after saying this prayer and experiencing so profoundly the motherhood of Mary, to burst forth in praise of the Blessed Virgin, either in that splendid prayer the Salve Regina or in the Litany of Loreto?
DISTRIBUTION OVER TIME
According to current practice, Monday and Thursday are dedicated to the “joyful mysteries”, Tuesday and Friday to the “sorrowful mysteries”, and Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday to the “glorious mysteries”. Where might the “mysteries of light” be inserted? If we consider that the “glorious mysteries” are said on both Saturday and Sunday, and that Saturday has always had a special Marian flavour, the second weekly meditation on the “joyful mysteries”, mysteries in which Mary’s presence is especially pronounced, could be moved to Saturday. Thursday would then be free for meditating on the “mysteries of light”. From the Vatican on the 16th day of October in the year 2002, the beginning of the twenty-fifth year of my Pontificate.

The Most Holy Rosary The Method of St. Louis Marie de Montfort
I unite with all the saints in Heaven, with all the just on earth and
with all the faithful here present. I unite with Thee, O my Jesus, in order to praise worthily Thy holy Mother and to praise Thee in her and through her. I renounce all the distractions I may have during this rosary, which I wish to say with modesty, attention and devotion, just as if it were to be the last of my life.
We offer Thee, O most Holy Trinity, this Creed in honor of all the mysteries of our Faith; this Our Father and these three Hail Marys in honour of the unity of Thy Essence and the Trinity of Thy Persons. We ask of Thee a lively faith, a firm hope and an ardent charity. Amen.
6
The Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. 7
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. 8
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with you! Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. 9
Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Pray after each Decade
O my Jesus,
forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of Your mercy.

The Joyful Mysteries 11
First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation
And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And, behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there will be no end.” Luke 1: 30-33
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Humility We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this first decade in honor of Your Incarnation in Mary’s womb, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through her intercession, a profound humility. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Annunciation come down into our souls. Amen.
12
Second Joyful Mystery: The Visitation
In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of Judah, and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the child leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the child in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord. Luke 1: 39-45
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Love of Neighbor We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this second decade in honor of the Visitation of Your holy Mother to her cousin St. Elizabeth and the sanctification of St. John the Baptist, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, charity towards our neighbor. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Visitation come down into our souls. Amen. 13
Third Joyful Mystery: The Nativity
And she gave birth to her first-born son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. Luke 2: 7
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Poverty We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this third decade in honor of Your Nativity in the stable of Bethlehem, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, detachment from the things of the world, contempt of riches and love of poverty. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Nativity come down into our souls. Amen. 14
Fourth Joyful Mystery:
The Presentation in the Temple
Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and the same man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And inspired by the Spirit he came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now let your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” Luke 2: 25-32
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Obedience We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this fourth decade in honor of Your Presentation in the Temple, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, purity of body and soul. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Presentation in the Temple come down into our souls. Amen. 15
Fifth Joyful Mystery:
The Finding of Our Lord in the Temple
Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom; and when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, but supposing him to be in the company they went a day’s journey, and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances; and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions; and all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and answers. And when they saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously.” And he said to them, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” And they did not understand the saying which he spoke to them. And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man. Luke 2: 39-52
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Joy of Finding Jesus We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this fifth decade in honor of Mary’s finding You in the Temple, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through her intercession, the gift of true wisdom. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Finding of Our Lord in the Temple come down into our souls. Amen. 16
The Mysteries of Light 17
First Mystery of Light: The Baptism in the Jordan
And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on him; and behold, a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I Matthew 3: 16-17 am well pleased.”
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Openness to the Holy Spirit “The Baptism in the Jordan is first of all a mystery of light. Here, as Christ descends into the waters, the innocent one who became ‘sin’ for our sake, the heavens open wide and the voice of the Father declares him the beloved Son, while the Spirit descends on him to invest him with the mission which he is to carry out.” (Rosarium Virginis Mariae, Blessed John Paul II)
May the grace of the Mystery of the Baptism in the Jordan come down into our souls. Amen. 18
Second Mystery of Light:
The Self-Manifestation at the Wedding at Cana
On the third day there was a marriage at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; Jesus also was invited to the marriage, with his disciples. When the wine failed, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “O woman, what have you to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” John 2: 1-5
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: To Jesus through Mary “Another mystery of light is the first of the signs, given at Cana, when Christ changes water into wine and opens the hearts of the disciples to faith, thanks to the intervention of Mary, the first among believers.” (Rosarium Virginis Mariae, Blessed John Paul II)
May the grace of the Mystery of the Self-Manifestation at the Wedding at Cana come down into our souls. Amen. 19
Third Mystery of Light:
The Proclamation of the Kingdom with the Call to Conversion
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of John 20: 21-23 any, they are retained.”
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Repentance & Trust in God “Another mystery of light is the preaching by which Jesus proclaims the coming of the Kingdom of God, calls to conversion and forgives the sins of all who draw near him in humble trust: the inauguration of that ministry of mercy which he continues to exercise until the end of the world, particularly through the Sacrament of Reconciliation which he has entrusted to his Church.” (Rosarium Virginis Mariae, Blessed John Paul II)
May the grace of the Mystery of the Proclamation of the Kingdom with the Call to Conversion come down into our souls. Amen. 20
Fourth Mystery of Light: The Transfiguration
Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And as he was praying, the appearance of his countenance was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. And behold, two men talked with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus, which he was to accomplish at Jerusalem. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” Luke 9: 28-31, 35
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Desire for Holiness “The mystery of light par excellence is the Transfiguration, traditionally believed to have taken place on Mount Tabor. The glory of the Godhead shines forth from the face of Christ as the Father commands the astonished Apostles to ‘listen to Him’ and to prepare to experience with him the agony of the Passion, so as to come with him to the joy of the Resurrection and a life transfigured by the Holy Spirit.” (Rosarium Virginis Mariae, Blessed John Paul II)
May the grace of the Mystery of the Transfiguration come down into our souls. Amen. 21
Fifth Mystery of Light:
The Institution of the Eucharist
Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a chalice, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Matthew 26: 26-28
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Adoration “A final mystery of light is the institution of the Eucharist, in which Christ offers his body and blood as food under the signs of bread and wine, and testifies to ‘to the end’ his love for humanity, for whose salvation he will offer himself in sacrifice.” (Rosarium Virginis Mariae, Blessed John Paul II)
May the grace of the Mystery of the Institution of the Eucharist come down into our souls. Amen.
22
The Sorrowful Mysteries 23
First Sorrowful Mystery: The Agony in the Garden
And when he came to the place he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, remove this chalice from me; nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done.” And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like big drops of blood falling down upon the ground. Luke 22: 40-44
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Sorrow for Sin We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this first decade in honor of Your agony in the Garden of Olives, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, contrition for our sins. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Agony in the Garden come down into our souls. Amen. 24
Second Sorrowful Mystery: The Scourging
Then Pilate took Jesus and scourged him. John 19: 1
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Purity We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this second decade in honor of Your bloody Scourging and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, the grace of mortifying our senses. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Scourging come down into our souls. Amen. 25
Third Sorrowful Mystery: The Crowning with Thorns
And the soldiers led him away inside the palace (that is the praetorium); and they called together the whole battalion. And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and plaiting a crown of thorns they put it on him. And they began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews! And they struck his head with a reed, and spat upon him, and they knelt down in homage to him. And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the purple cloak, and put his own clothes on him. And they led him out to crucify him. Mark 15: 16-20
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Courage We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this third decade in honor of Your being crowned with thorns and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, contempt of the world. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Crowning with Thorns come down into our souls. Amen. 26
Fourth Sorrowful Mystery: The Carrying of the Cross
So they took Jesus and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called the place of a skull, which is called in Hebrew Golgotha. John 19: 17
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Patience We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this fourth decade in honor of Your carrying of the Cross, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, patience in bearing our crosses. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Carrying of the Cross come down into our souls. Amen. 27
Fifth Sorrowful Mystery: The Crucifixion
It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun was darkened; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my Luke 23: 44-46 spirit!
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Perseverance We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this fifth decade in honor of Your Crucifixion and ignominious death on Calvary and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, the conversion of sinners, the perseverance of the just and the relief of the souls in Purgatory. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Crucifixion come down into our souls. Amen. 28
The Glorious Mysteries 29
First Glorious Mystery: The Resurrection
But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel; and as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise. Luke 24: 1-7
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Faith We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this first decade in honor of Your glorious Resurrection, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, love of God and fervor in Your service. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Resurrection come down into our souls. Amen. 30
Second Glorious Mystery: The Ascension
And when he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven. Acts 1: 9-11
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Hope We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this second decade in honor of Your triumphant Ascension, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, an ardent desire for Heaven, our true home. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Ascension come down into our souls. Amen. 31
Third Glorious Mystery:
The Descent of the Holy Spirit
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2: 1-4
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Love of God We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this third decade in honor of the Mystery of Pentecost, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, the coming of the Holy Spirit into our souls. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of Pentecost come down into our souls. Amen. 32
Fourth Glorious Mystery: The Assumption
And when they met her they all blessed her with one accord and said to her, “You are the exaltation of Jerusalem, you are the great glory of Israel, you are the great pride of our nation! You have done all this singlehanded; you have done great good to Israel, and God is well pleased with it. May the Almighty Lord bless you for ever!” And all Judith 15: 9-10 the people said, “So be it!”
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Grace of a Happy Death We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this fourth decade in honor of the Resurrection and triumphant Assumption of Your holy Mother into Heaven, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through the intercession of Your holy Mother, a tender devotion for so good a Mother. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Assumption come down into our souls. Amen. 33
Fifth Glorious Mystery:
The Coronation of the Blessed Virgin
And a great sign appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. Revelation 12: 1
Our Father, Ten Hail Marys, Glory Be, Fatima Prayer. Fruit of the Mystery: Trust in Mary’s Intercession We offer You, O Lord Jesus, this fifth decade in honor of the Coronation of Your holy Mother, and we ask of You through this Mystery and through her intercession, perseverance in grace and a crown of glory hereafter. Amen.
May the grace of the Mystery of the Coronation of the Blessed Virgin come down into our souls. Amen. 34
Hail, Holy Queen
Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy,
our life, our sweetness and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us, and after this exile show us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. 35
Let us Pray
O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection
has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
Most
Angel’s Prayer
Holy Trinity, Father, Son & Holy Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which he is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners. Amen.
Pardon Prayer
My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love Thee! I beg pardon
for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love Thee. 36
Prayers for our Holy Father Let us pray for our Pope (Name). The Lord preserve him and give him life, and make him blessed upon earth, and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies. Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to your shepherd (Name) a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care may he, as successor to the apostle Peter and Vicar of Christ, build your Church into a sacrament of unity, love, and peace for all the world. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be. 37
The Angelus V. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary. R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary. V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord. R. Be it done unto me according to thy word. Hail Mary. V. And the word was made Flesh. R. And dwelt among us. Hail Mary. V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray. Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ Thy Son was made known by the message of an Angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection. Through the same Christ, Our Lord. Amen. This prayer is recited morning, (6:00 a.m.) noon and evening (6:00 p.m.) throughout the year except during Paschal time, when the Queen of Heaven (Regina Caeli) is recited instead.
38
Queen of Heaven Queen of heaven, rejoice, alleluia. The Son whom you merited to bear, alleluia, has risen as he said, alleluia. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia! For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia. Let us pray. God our Father, you give joy to the world by the resurrection of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Through the prayers of his mother, the Virgin Mary, bring us to happiness of eternal life. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. Amen. The Regina Caeli is recited standing during Paschal Time*, instead of The Angelus: Morning, noon and evening. *From Easter through the evening of the Saturday after Pentecost.

Magnificat
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children for ever. Luke 1: 46-55

The Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin By St. Louis Marie de Montfort
41
First Crown:
The Crown of Excellence
To honor the divine maternity of the Blessed Virgin, her ineffable virginity, her purity without stain, and her innumerable virtues. Our Father. 42
Hail Mary.
Blessed art thou, O Virgin Mary, who did bear the Lord, the Creator of the world; thou did give birth to Him Who made thee, and remains a Virgin forever. Rejoice, O Virgin Mary, Rejoice a thousand times! 43
Hail Mary.
O holy and immaculate Virgin, I know not with what praise to extol thee, since thou did bear in thy womb the very One Whom the Heavens cannot contain. Rejoice, O Virgin Mary, Rejoice a thousand times! 44
Hail Mary.

Let us pray. Hail Mary, Daughter of God the Father; Hail Mary, Mother of God the Son; Hail Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit; Hail Mary, Temple of the Most Holy Trinity; Hail Mary, my mistress, my treasure, my joy, Queen of my heart; my Mother, my life, my sweetness, my dearest hope, my heart and my soul! I am all thine and all that I have is thine, O Virgin blessed above all things! Let thy soul be in me to magnify the Lord; let thy spirit be in me to rejoice in God. Set thyself, O faithful Virgin, as a seal upon my heart, that in thee and through thee I may be found faithful to God. Receive me, O gracious Virgin, among those whom thou love and teach, whom thou lead, nourish and protect as thy children. Grant that for love of thee, I may despise all earthly consolations, and ever cling to those of heaven; until through the Holy Spirit, thy faithful Spouse, and through thee, His faithful Spouse, Jesus Christ thy Son be formed in me for the glory of the Father. Amen.

Act of Consecration to Jesus Christ “The Incarnate Wisdom
Through the Immaculate Heart of Mary By St. Louis Marie de Montfort O Eternal and incarnate Wisdom! O sweetest and most adorable Jesus! True God and true man, only Son of the Eternal Father, and of Mary, always Virgin! I adore Thee profoundly in the bosom and splendors of Thy Father during eternity; and in the womb of Mary, Thy most worthy Mother, in the time of Thy Incarnation. I give Thee thanks that Thou has emptied Thyself in taking the form of a slave in order to save me from the cruel slavery of the devil. I praise and glorify Thee that Thou has been pleased to submit Thyself to Mary, Thy Holy Mother, in all things, in order to make me Thy faithful slave through her. But, alas! ungrateful and unfaithful as I have been, I have not kept the promises which I made so solemnly to Thee in my Baptism; I have not fulfilled my obligations; I do not deserve to be called Thy child, nor even Thy slave; and as there is nothing in me which does not merit Thine anger and repulse, I dare no longer come by myself before Thy most holy and august Majesty. This is why I have recourse to the intercession of Thy Most Holy Mother, whom Thou has given me to mediate with Thee. It is through her that I hope to obtain of Thee contrition and the pardon of my sins, the acquisition and the preservation of Wisdom. Hail, then, Immaculate Mary, living Tabernacle of the Divinity, in which the Eternal Wisdom deigned to be hidden and to be adored by Angels and by men! Hail, Queen of Heaven and earth, to whose empire is subject everything that is under God. Hail, sure Refuge of sinners; whose mercy fails no one! Grant the desire, which I have to obtain Divine Wisdom, and for this end deign to accept the offering and promises, which my lowliness presents to Thee. I, (Name), an unfaithful sinner, renew and ratify today in thy hands the promises of my Baptism: I renounce forever Satan, his pomps and works; and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have been till now. I choose thee this day, O Mary, in the presence of all the heavenly court, for my Mother and Mistress. I deliver and consecrate to thee, as thy slave, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present and future. I leave to thee the entire and full right to dispose of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, as thou pleasest, for the greater glory of God, in time and in eternity. Receive, O gracious Virgin, this little offering of my slavery, in honor of, and in union with, that subjection which the Eternal Wisdom deigned to have to thy maternity; in homage to the power which both of you have over this little worm and miserable sinner, and in thanksgiving for the privileges with which the Holy Trinity has favored thee. I protest that henceforth I wish, as thy true slave, to seek thy honor and to obey thee in all things. O admirable Mother, present me to thy dear Son as His eternal slave, so that as He has redeemed me by thee, by thee He may receive me! O Mother of Mercy, grant that I may obtain the true Wisdom of God, and for this end receive me among those whom thou loveth and teachest, whom thou leadest, nourishest and protectest as thy children and thy slaves. O faithful Virgin, make me in all things so perfect a disciple, imitator and slave of the Incarnate Wisdom, Jesus Christ thy Son, that I may attain, by thine intercession and example, to the fullness of His age on earth and of His glory in Heaven. Amen.
