The designer of the patterns in this catalog, Mitchell Kumle, uses simple shapes and letters to create unique, interesting designs in both black and white and color.
The Creation Finally, the simplicity of the forms repeated within an area creates very unique patterns while the color palette distributed through the pattern creates captivating designs for many products.
The different color palettes used were chosen from certain planes of the RGB color cube so that while the opposite ends of the palette seem very random, the middle colors show the connection between the others.
Crazy J’s
This asymmetrical pattern uses the simple, upper-case J. The combination of the two J’s within the decenders make a visually pleasing, symmetric form This color palette, consisting of different shades of green and blue, creates a uniform feel throughout the composition.

This pattern takes the same J from the last pattern, but doubles the connection to four J’s put together by their decenders to create a nice, symmetrical piece that can be easily repeated. The cool color palette with assymetrical color placement ccreates a great contrast within the pattern.
