REČ ŽIRIJA Svake godine nove ideje, crteži i priče uvek su izazov za žiri koji sa puno truda mora da otkrije sve one nove i stare autore koji su od salona do salona uložili trud da se kreativno izraze u strip tablama i nagradi ih. I ovoga puta glavna borba u estetskom smislu vodila se između klasičnih naratora i onih koji u stripu vide mogućnost da čitaoca uznemire autorskom pričom, slikarskim pristupom, veštinom narušavanja pravila medija. Među 235 autora iz 22 zemlje, od kojih je najviše bilo onih iz Srbije, malo je bilo onih čije strip table nisu uspele da zaintrigiraju, pokrenu polemiku i brojna pitanja među članovima ovogodišnjeg žirija. Istorija, mitologija, ratovi, stripovane pesme, fantastika, uznemirujući gotski motivi, lične tinejdžerske priče, komične dosetke, karikaturni pristupi životnim temama, sve to se moglo otkriti na 203 pristigla rada. Ekspresivnost stripa danas je bezgranična, ona više nije ograničena na kvadrat i balončiće. Autori su shvatili da su u svet devete umetnosti dobrodošli svi koji imaju koncept. I upravo ta otvorenost i poziv da na Salonu stripa učestvuju sve kreativne energije iz godine u godinu celu ovu manifestaciju pozicionira na sve značajnijem mestu u kulturnom životu ne samo Beograda i Srbije, već i čitavog bivšeg jugoslovenskog regiona. A WORD FROM THE JURY Every year, new ideas, drawings and stories are always a challenge to the jury who, with a lot of effort, must discover all those new and old authors who, in the time between one Festival and another, invested efforts to creatively express themselves in the comic pages, and to reward them. Once again, the main fighting in aesthetic terms was between classic narrators and those who see the possibility in comics to upset a reader with stories and artistic approaches, skilled enough to overcome the rules of the media. Among 235 authors from 22 different countries, most of them from Serbia, there were only a handful of those whose tables failed to intrigue, start polemics and raise many questions among the members of this year’s jury. History, mythology, war, comics poems, fiction, gothic inspired disturbing motives, personal teenage stories, comic gags, caricature approaches to life issues… 203 entries arrived at the contest and revealed all of that. Expressiveness of today’s comics is boundless; it is no longer limited to squares and balloons. The authors realized that all those with a concept are welcome to the world of the ninth art. Exactly, it is this openness and a call to all creative energies to participate at the festival that pushes this manifestation higher and higher, from one year to another, in cultural life of not only Belgrade and Serbia, but the whole ex-Yugoslav region. Miloš SLAVKOVIĆ Rođen je 1979 godine u Zemunu. Odrasta na stripovima Italijanske škole: Bonelijevim izdanjima Dilan Dog i Zagor, kao i Alan Fordu. Ipak, presudni uticaj na njegov stil ima susret sa radovima Baneta Kerca i superherojskim izdanjima zapadnih izdavača, gde ga fascinira dinamična anatomija likova. Nakon završene gimnazije upisuje Fakultet primenjenih umetnosti i dizajna u Beogradu, odsek ilustracija u klasi Rastka Ćirića. Tokom studija počinje da posećuje radionicu stripa Đorđe Lobačev, gde se konačno odlučuje za strip kao kreativni medij. Odmah po završetku studija učestvuje u izradi stripa baziranog na TV igri Tajni agent Izi. Zatim radi kao deo tima u produkciji koncepta jedne od prvih domaćih video igara Genesis Rising, Metamorph studija, u distribuciji Dreamcatcher interactive. Naporedo učestvuje u izradi internet stripa Paladin, na kome gradi stil. Radi na SF stripu Contract na tekst Garana Madejrosa i brojnim manjim ilustrativnim projektima. Dobitnik je nagrade Politikinog Zabavnika na Zlatnom peru 2007. Učesnik je mnogih smotri stripa i ilustracije. Njegov stil potencira ilustrativne kadrove u stripu, sa akcentom na dinamičnim figurama i koloritu.

He was born in 1979, in Zemun. He grew up reading Italian comics: Bonelli’s editions Dylan Dog and Zagor, as well as Alan Ford. However, the decisive influence on his style was an encounter with the works of Bane Kerac and superhero releases of western publishers, in which he was fascinated with dynamic anatomy of characters. After high school, he began his studies at the Faculty of the applied arts and design in Belgrade, department of illustration in the class of Rastko Ćirić. During the studies, he attended the comics school Đorđe Lobačev, where he finally selected comics, as his creative medium. After the graduation, he participated in creation of comics Secret Agent Izzy, based on the video game. Then, as part of the team, he worked on one of the first domestic video games Genesis Rising, by Metamorph Studio and distributed by Dreamcatcher Interactive. Simultaneously, he participated in creation of internet comic Paladin, using this as an opportunity to build his style. He worked on SF comic Contract, scripted by Garan Madeiros and on a number of smaller illustrated projects. He won an award of Politikin Zabavnik in 2007. He participated in many festivals of comics and illustration. His style stresses illustrative cadres in the comics, with an emphasis on dynamic figures and coloring.

Lazo SREDANOVIĆ Lazo Sredanović je rođen 1939. godine u Nikšiću. Školu za primenjene umetnosti završio je 1960. godine u Herceg Novom. U Beogradu 1965. diplomira na Akademiji za primenjenu umetnost. Od rane mladosti pokazuje interesovanje za strip, karikaturu i ilustraciju. Prvi strip objavio je u svojoj četrnaestoj godini u dečijem listu Pioniri. Tokom studija radio je ilustracije i karikature za Ferijalac, list Ferijalnog saveza Jugoslavije. Tu je redovno objavljivao kaiševe stripa prema scenariju Petra Marša. Ilustrovao je veći broj slikovnica za decu. Ideja o njegovom najpopularnijem stripu Dikan, stvorena je kroz konkurs pokrenut početkom 1969. godine, u Politikinom zabavniku. Ovo, kao i niz novina koje su značajno uticale na kvalitet i popularnost ovog časopisa, je u tom vremenu bila zasluga tadašnjeg glavnog urednika Nikole Lekića. Dikan se u Politikinom zabavniku prvi put pojavljuje u br. 903, 18. aprila 1969. godine sa epizodom Buzdovanske Igre. Prvi scenarista bio je Ninoslav Šibalić, a zatim su scenario pisali Nikola Lekić, Branislav Đurica, Milenko Maticki, Slobodan Ivkov i sam Sredanović. Shodno socijalnim, kulturnim, ekonomskim i etničkim prilikama toga vremena, visoki i snažni Sloven Dikan, bio je zamišljen kao junak u kome bi se mogli ogledati svih šest naroda koji su sačinjavali bivšu domovinu. Njegova stalna pratnja je stric Vukoje koji shodno svojoj zrelijoj dobi savjetuje mladog sinovca usijane glave. Strip prati mnoštvo parodija na probleme i polemike savremenog društva. Vremenske odrednice dešavanja u stripu nisu ograničenem pa se Dikan i Vukoje pojavljuju kroz razne istorijske epohe, čak i u budućnosti, kao što je to u epizodi Dikan i pretnja sa Oriona. Tiraž Dikana je sedamdesetih godina dostigao 400.000 primjeraka. Štampaju se i posebna izdanja na slovenačkom jeziku gde u prevodu Dikan dobija ime Tilen. Iako stoji činjenica da nije izlazio u zasebnim sveskama kao većina stripova, jer Zabavnik onda, kao i sada, pored stripa donosi i druge sadržaje, možemo ga smatrati za najtiražniji domaći strip ikada objavljivan na prostoru južnoslovenskog govornog područja. Za razliku od tada najpopularnijeg domaćeg stripa Mirko i Slavko iz magazina Nikad robom, koji je osim zabavnog štiva bio odraz političke propagande tadašnjeg vremena, Dikan se kreće samo po realnom kulturnom obrascu koji i danas spaja narode bivše države. Takva situacija čini da još nije moguće obuhvatiti vremenski opseg trajanja ovog stripa i doneti konačan i precizan sud o njegovom značaju za domaću kulturu. Za sada možemo slobodno reći da je veliki. Sredanović se danas bavi grafičkim dizajnom i ilustrovanjem udžbenika, časopisa i slikovnica za decu. Izlagao je na mnogim salonima karikature u zemlji i inostranstvu. Dobitnik je više nagrada i diploma. Živi i radi u Beogradu i Krašićima kod Tivta.

Lazo Sredanović was born in 1939, in Nikšić, Montenegro. In 1960, he finished School of Applied Arts in Herceg Novi. He graduated in 1965 from the Academy of Applied Arts, Belgrade. Since an early age he showed interest for comics, cartoons and illustrations. His first comic strip was published in the magazine Pioneers when he was 14. During his studies he did illustrations for Ferijalac, magazine of the Youth Association of Yugoslavia, where he also frequently published comic strips written by Petar Marš. He did illustrations for many children’s picture books. The idea for launching Dikan, his most popular comics, was materialized through competition started at the beginning of 1969 in Politikin Zabavnik (“Politika’s Funny Paper”) magazine. Editor in chief in those years, Nikola Lekić, was instrumental for this and many other introduced novelties that were influential on the quality and popularity of the magazine. Dikan appears for the first time in Politikin Zabavnik no. 903, issued on April 18, 1969, in the episode Mace Games. The first script writer was Ninoslav Šibalić; he was than succeeded by Nikola Lekić, Branislav Đurica, Milenko Maticki, Slobodan Ivkov and the artist himself. According to social, cultural and ethnical circumstances of the time, tall and strong Slav Dikan was imagined as the hero mirroring all six nations living in Yugoslavia. His faithful companion used to be his uncle Vukoje who according to his mature age counsels his young hot-headed nephew. The comic series follows through parody many problems and polemics of the contemporary society. The time frame of the action depicted in the comic is not limited. Dikan and Uncle Vukoje appear in many historical eras including future, as in the episode Dikan and the Threat from Orion. During the Seventies, the circulation of Dikan reached 400 000 sold copies. Special editions in Slovenian language were created, where Dikan was re-christened Tilen. Although the fact remains that it wasn’t published in comic book format as the other titles, since Politikin Zabavnik was presenting other non-comics features, it is a sure guess that Dikan was the best-selling domestic comic strip ever published in the ex-Yugoslavian region. Dikan - unlike then very popular comic book series Mirko and Slavko’ from the edition Nikad robom (“Never Surrender”) which used to be not only entertainment, but also a reflection of the political propaganda of the time - moves across the pattern of real culture which even today connects peoples of former Yugoslav republics. Therefore, it is not possible to reach the position for final and precise judgment of the importance of Dikan phenomenon in our culture; for now we can only state that it is considerable. Today, Sredanović does graphic design and illustrations for magazines, textbooks and children’s picture books. He took part in many caricature exhibitions at home and abroad. He has received many awards and diplomas. He lives and works in Belgrade and in Krašići near Tivat.

SREĆKO JOVANOVIĆ

Radivoj BoGIČEVIĆ Radivoj Bogičević je rođen 16. maja 1940. godine u pitomom slavonskom selu Sremske Laze. Osnovnu školu je pohađao u rodnom mestu, a osmogodišnju u Vinkovcima. Dogodovštine iz mladosti Radivoj je prelepo ispričao u autobiografskom romanu U trku za jelenom. Studirao je na Akademiji primenjenih umetnosti u Beogradu, gde je diplomirao na odseku za grafiku. Potom se zaposlio u Zastava filmu, kao animator i asistent režije. Radio je zatim u PGP-u kao urednik omota za gramofonske ploče i u EPP-u Radio televizije Beograd gde se bavio kreiranjem spotova i 3D animacijom. U penziju je otišao kao urednik grafičke opreme svih RTB redakcija. Stripom počinje da se bavi sredinom šezdesetih kada otpočinje saradnju sa Dečjim novinama. Crtao je za ediciju Nikad robom serijal po sopstvenom scenariju o starim Slovenima, Akant, koji je objavljivan i u časopisima Zenit, Kuriri, Ediciji Lale, YU strip. U periodu od 1963. do 1971. godine Bogičević je kreirao dvadesetak epizoda stripa o Akantu, nejednakog obima i formata., a započeo je i druge serijale. Po scenariju Dobrice Erića radio je strip serijal o Blaži i Jelici kao i serijal o srpskim vojnicima u prvom svetskom ratu – po svojoj prvoj epizodi nazvan Neustrašivi. Za časopis Kekec je radio strip Bedanjčeva zamka po scenariju reditelja Jožea Galea. Akant je, međutim, bio i ostao njegov najpopularniji junak. Pored animacije i stripa, bavi se ilustrovanjem, a objavljuje u Politikinom zabavniku, Politici za decu, kao i za izdavačku kuću Narodna knjiga. Njegov autobiografski roman U trku za jelenom iz 2003. nagrađen je nagradom Politikinog zabavnika kao najbolji dečiji roman te godine. Bogičevićev jedini povratak stripovima bio je u vidu albuma Džon Piplfoks, 2004 godine.

Radivoj Bogičević was born on May 16, 1940, in Sremske Laze. a gentle village in Slavonia. He attended primary school in his native place, and secondary in the town of Vinkovci. He narrated his adventures from the youth in the autobiographical novel U trku za Jelenom (“Running for Deer”). He studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade and he graduated from the graphics department. The work for Zastava film followed, where he was employed as an animator and assistant director. He then worked for record label PGP Belgrade as a cover editor for LPs, and on videos and animation in the advertising department of Radio-Television Belgrade (RTB). He retired as editor of graphic equipment of all RTB redactions. In the mid sixties his collaboration with Dečje novine (“Children’s Newspaper”) begun and that’s how he started to work on comics. For the edition Nikad robom (“Never Surrender”), he drew and scripted comics series Acant, dedicated to Ancient Slavs and also published in magazines Zenit, Kuriri, Ediciji Lale and YU strip. Between 1963 and 1971, he created two dozen episodes of Acant, unequal by size and format. He also started other series. These were Blažo and Jelica, scripted by Dobrica Erić, as well as the series dedicated to Serbian soldiers during the World War I, named after its first episode Neustrašivi (“Fearless”). For Kekec magazine he created comic named Bedanjčeva zamka, scripted by director Jože Gale. However, Acant remained his most popular character. In addition to animation, Bogičević is also an illustrator who published his works in Politikin zabavnik (“Politika’s Funny Paper”), Politika za decu (“Politika for Children”), as well as for Narodna knjiga Publishing. His autobiographical novel U trku za Jelenom, published in 2003, was awarded by Politikin zabavnik as best children’s novel of the year. His only comeback to comics was graphic novel John Pipplefox, in 2004.

SIIC NIŠ - ZA EDICIJU STRIP PRESSING / FOR STRIP PRESSING EDITION Strip Pressing predstavlja specijalno izdanje akademskog lista Pressing koji izlazi od 1991. godine u izadnju niškog Studentsko Informativno Izdavačkog centra (SIIC-Niš).

Strip Pressing is a special edition of the academic journal Pressing, published since 1991 by Student Info-Publishing Center Niš (SIIC-Niš).

Prvi broj Strip Pressinga ugledao je svetlost dana početkom leta 2001. godine, donoseći uglavnom radove mlađih i (ili) neafirmisanih autora, kako onih iz Niša tako i iz svih delova tadašnje Jugoslavije pod uredničkom palicom Marka Stojanovića i Dejana Stoiljkovića. Magazin je svoje stranice ravnopravno ustupio stripu glavnog toka i alternativnom stripu, pri čemu je osnovno merilo za objavljivanje bio (i ostao) kvalitet, što je na strip sceni dočekano s odobravanjem, baš kao i činjenica da je magazin veći broj stranica posvećivao teorijskim tekstovima o domaćem i stranom stripu. Do sada je objavljeno trinaest brojeva Strip Pressing i tri specijalna albuma, Maks Debris, Postelja od gloga i Ekstra Gedža - tatko na superheroji. Strip Pressing je u Srbiji prvi pružio šansu i objavio stripove kvalitetnih mladih strip crtača poput Jovana Ukropine, Nebojše Pejića, Milisava Bankovića, Darka Pajčina, Dejana Vujića, Tonija Fejzule, Dušana Cvetkovića, Tiberija Beke, Ljubomira Filipovića, Igora Stojanovića, Aleksandra Ljubića, Dejana Lazarevića... The first issue of Strip Pressing was published in the early summer of 2001, bringing mainly young and (or) unproven artists, from Niš and from all parts of the then Yugoslavia, under the editorial supervision of Marko Stojanović and Dejan Stojiljković. The journal equally dedicated its pages to the mainstream and alternative comics. The primary criterion for publication selection was (and still is) the quality, which is at the comic scene met with approval; it was also due to the fact that the large number of pages were devoted to the theoretical essays about domestic and foreign comics. Thirteen issues of Strip Pressing have been published so far, and in addition three special albums: Max Debris, Postelja od Gloga (“Bed of hawthorn”) and Ekstra Gedža tatko na superheroji (“Extra boor - father of superheroes”). Strip Pressing was the first in Serbia to provide a publishing opportunity to young quality artists such as Jovan Ukropina, Nebojša Pejić, Milisav Banković, Darko Pajčin, Dejan Vujić, Toni Fejzula, Dušan Cvetković, Tiberiu Beka, Ljubomir Filipović, Igor Stojanović, Aleksandar Ljubić, Dejan Lazarević... OMNIBUS, Beograd / Belgrade Izdavačka kuća Omnibus izdala je u junu 2011. godine svoje kapitalno delo Stripovi koje smo voleli, kritički leksikon o stripovima i autorima sa područja bivše Jugoslavije u XX veku. Knjiga je doživela brojne promocije i pozitivne recenzije, a na Sajmu knjiga u Beogradu, oktobra 2011. godine, proglašena je za izdavački poduhvat godine. Ohrabren ovim uspehom, Omnibus je odlučio da nastavi sa izdavanjem strip knjiga, u želji da našoj strip sceni predstavi neke stripove koje drugi izdavači ne pokrivaju, kao što su svetski i ex-YU stripovi stripovi nastali posle 1990, reprinti stripova domaćih majstora iz XX veka i kritike i monografije o stripovima. Do sada su izašle knjige: Migelančo Prado – Manuel Montano, Tangente i Trag kredom, Tomaž Lavrič – Nova vremena, Đorđe Milović – Drugim očima, Nina Bunjevac – Hladna kao led, Iztok Sitar – Dnevnik Ane Tank, Stripovi iz Nikad robom (1966-1968) od Brane Jovanovića i Stripovi koje smo voleli, autora Živojina Tamburića, Zdravka Zupana i Zorana Stefanovića. U poslednjih godinu dana, izdavačka kuća Omnibus je objavila Stripove iz Nikad Robom (1963-1966) Radivoja Bogičevića i strip album Devedesete Wostoka i Grabovskog. Od stranih izdanja tu su Briten i Brulajtli Hane Beri i Šavovi Dejvida Smola.

Omnibus Publishing House issued in June 2011 its major opus Stripovi koje smo voleli (“Comics we loved”), a critical lexicon about comic books and authors of the former Yugoslavia in the twentieth century. It had numerous promotions and positive reviews, and at the Belgrade book fair, in October 2011, was awarded as a publication of the year. Encouraged by this success, Omnibus decided to continue comic books publishing, in desire to present to our comics scene some works not covered by other publishers, such as worldwide and ex-YU comics comic books created after 1990, reprints of Twentieth century domestic comics artists, as well as critics and monographs about comics. Published titles so far are: Miguelanxo Prado - Manuel Montano, Venins de femmes, Trait de craie, Tomaž Lavrič – Nova vremena, Đorđe Milović – Drugim očima, Nina Bunjevac – Hladna kao led, Iztok Sitar – Dnevnik Ane Tank, Stripovi iz Nikad robom (“Comics from Never Surrender edition”) by Brana Jovanović and Stripovi koje smo voleli by Živojin Tamburić, Zdravko Zupan and Zoran Stefanović. During the last year Omnibus publishing also managed to realize the following projects: Stripovi iz Nikad Robom (1963-1966) by Radivoj Bogičević and album Devedesete (“The Nineties”), by Wostok and Grabovski. Published foreign editions are Britten and Brülightly written and illustrated by Hannah Berry and David Small’s Stitches.

Borivoj DOVNIKOVIĆ-BORDO Rođen je 1930. u Osijeku. Odrastao je čitajući stripove iz „zlatnog doba“ američkog realističkog stripa, Diznijeve produkcije, ali i one koji su u to vreme nastajali iz pera beogradskih i zagrebačkih prvaka devete umetnosti. Nakon završetka rata, s nepunih petnaest godina, nudi osječkim redakcijama svoje stripove, koje su njihovi urednici i prihvatili. Upravo će jedan od Bordovih radova (Udarnik Ratko iz Glasa Slavonije) biti povod svemoćnom Agit-propu, organu Komunističke partije, da krajem 1945. sam medij stripa stavi na „popis zabranjenih stvari“, što je na snazi ostalo dugih pet godina. U međuvremenu Dovniković završava gimnaziju i u jesen 1949. dolazi na studije, na Likovnu akademiju u Zagrebu. Pridružuje se ekipi humorističkog lista Kerempuh i uredniku Fadilu Hadžiću za koji crta brojne karikature i ilustracije. Uključuje se u pionirski podvig stvaranja našeg prvog crtanog filma Veliki miting. Nakon što se početkom pedesetih stripu ponovno upalilo „zeleno svetlo“, Bordove stripove nalazimo na stranicama Pionira, Horizontovog zabavnika, Kerempuha, Petka, Miki stripa, Plavog vjesnika, Vjesnika, Naše smotre... S podjednakom veštinom i uspehom crtao je stripove realističke figuracije i klasične naracije (Izgubljeni svijet, Emil i detektivi, Tragom izgubljenog krda, Afrička ogrlica, Pipo, Dječaci s Ionskih brodova, Slom ofanzive Braun), kao i karikaturalnog stila (Velika utakmica, Tri dabra, Ladonja na Divljem Zapadu...). U prvoj polovini šezdesetih godina, u Plavom vjesniku objavljuje stripove sa savremenom tematikom, uklopljene u domaće ambijente i s domaćim junacima (fudbalska trilogija, stripovi o doživljajima

vozača kamiona na auto-stradi), te Mendu Mendovića – seriju prema popularnoj tv-emisiji, koja je prema sećanju tadašnjeg urednika „Plavca“ Nenada Briksija izazvala veliki interes čitalaca i rekordni tiraž lista. Četrnaesta epizoda Mende Mendovića, objavljena početkom leta 1965. godine, označila je na duže vrijeme i njegovo opraštanje s „ljubavlju svog djetinjstva“ – zbog obaveza koje je imao kao vrhunsko ime zagrebačke škole animiranog filma, sa svetskom reputacijom. Nezavisno od toga, dvadesetogodišnje aktivno učešće u stvaranju izvornog domaćeg stripa visoke estetske i komunikacijske vrednosti, ali i u pozicioniranju Zagreba kao jednog od evropskih strip-središta toga vremena, razlozi su zbog kojih Dovnikoviću pripada važno mesto u celokupnoj istoriji jugoslovenskog stripa. Stoga, neverovatno zvuči da je Bordo do sada dobio samo jednu jedinu nagradu za strip. Ona mu je dodeljena od strane ljubljanskog Kluba devete umetnosti za realistički strip 1988. godine. Bordo je prva osoba u celoj tadašnjoj Jugoslaviji koja je javno progovorila o zabrani stripa 1946. godine - u tekstu Juče, ili koliko sam voleo strip, objavljenom u trećem broju Pegaza (1974). Deset godina kasnije, bio je član stručnog žirija prvog Salona jugoslovenskog stripa u Vinkovcima. Predstavljen je u oba izdanja Svetske enciklopedije stripa (urednika Morisa Horna); o njegovom opusu ugledni italijanski teoretičar stripa Klaudio Bertijeri pisao je u časopisu Comics; svoje stripove izlagao je na međunarodnom festivalu stripa u Luki; učestvovao je na svim najvažnijim retrospektivnim i tematskim izložbama domaćeg stripa; zastupljen je u monografiji Hrvatski poslijeratni strip. Nakon 1965. Bordo će se stripu vraćati povremeno, ali će se svakom novom ostvarenju posvetiti nadahnuto i maksimalno profesionalno. Za enigmatsku reviju Kviz crtaće seriju strip-anegdota, autor je stripova Blesan i tulipan (koji je, sticajem okolnosti, ostao neobjavljen) i Susreti treće vrste, remek-dela našeg satiričnog i angažovanog stripa koji je osamdesetih izlazio u kulturnom dvonedeljniku Oko. Početkom sledeće decenije će u austrijskim novinama objavljivati dve serije strip-dosetki u jednom kaišu (Dingi i Piki, Frau Blau und ihr tier), da bi 1994. započeo saradnju s dečjim listom Bijela pčela iz Rijeke, u kome objavljuje komični strip Čipko i djed Filip. S obzirom da saradnja s Bijelom pčelom i dalje traje, jasno je da Borivoj Dovniković-Bordo još uvijek nije rekao zadnju reč kao stripaš.


He was born in 1930 in Osijek. He grew up reading comics that belonged to the “Golden Age” of American realistic comic scene, Disney’s productions, but also those created at the time by the pioneers of the ninth art from Belgrade and Zagreb. After the war, before he even turned fifteen, he offered his first comics to the local journals from Osijek, which their editors accepted. One of his comics (Udarnik Ratko from Voice of Slavonia) triggered the decision of almighty Agitprop, department of the Communist Party, to put comics on the “list of prohibited items” in late 1945; the ban lasted long five years.

of the World Encyclopedia of Comics (edited by M. Horn); prominent Italian comics theorist Claudio Bertieri wrote on his opus in the Comics magazine; his comics were exhibited at the International comics Festival in Lucca; he participated in all major retrospective and thematic exhibitions of domestic comics; he is represented in the monograph Hrvatski poslijeratni strip (“Croatian postwar comics”).

Meanwhile Dovniković finished high school and in the autumn of 1949, he begun his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. He joined the team of Kerempuh humor magazine and its editor Fadil Hadžić, for which he did a number of cartoons and illustrations. He became part of the project that produced the first domestic animated film, titled Veliki miting (“A Large Rally”). In the early fifties the prohibition on comics was lifted up and works of Bordo started to appear on the pages of the following magazines Pioniri, Horizontov zabavnik, Kerempuh, Petko, Miki strip, Plavi vjesnik, Vjesnik, Naša smotra... With equal skill and success, he drew the comic of realist figuration and classical narrative (Izgubljeni svijet, Emil i detektivi, Tragom izgubljenog krda, Afrička ogrlica, Pipo, Dječaci s Ionskih brodova, Slom ofanzive Braun), as well as those of caricature style (Velika utakmica, Tri dabra, Ladonja na Divljem Zapadu...). In the first half of the sixties, in Plavi vjesnik magazine, he published comics with contemporary topics, embedded in local ambient and with local heroes (football trilogy, comics about the adventures of truck drivers), as well as Mendo Mendović – series based on a popular TV show. The then editor of Plavi vjesnik, Nenad Brixy, remembered how the comic aroused great interest of readers and led to the record circulation of the magazine. The fourteenth episode of Mendo Mendović, published in the early summer of 1965, marked Bordo’s parting with the “love of his childhood“; it was due to his obligations towards the worldwide recognized Zagreb school of animation, whose prominent member he was. However, his active participation in the creation of the original domestic comics scene, that lasted two decades, marked by high aesthetic and communicative value, as well as positioning of Zagreb as one of the European comics centers, are the reasons why Dovniković has an important place in the whole history of the Yugoslav comics. Therefore, it sounds incredible that Bordo has received only single award in comics. He was awarded for his achievements in the domain of realistic comic strip by the Club of the Ninth art from Ljubljana in 1988. Bordo was the first person in the whole former Yugoslavia, who spoke out publicly about the ban on comics imposed in 1946, in the text titled Juče, ili koliko sam voleo strip (“Yesterday, or how much I loved the comics”), published in the third issue of magazine Pegasus (1974). After 1965, Bordo was making several comebacks to comics, committed to every new work, with inspiration and maximum professionalism. He did a series of comics anecdotes for enigmatic review Quiz; he was the author of the comics titled Blesan i tulipan (which has, circumstantially, remained unpublished) and Susreti treće vrste, (“Encounters of the Third Kind”) masterpiece of domestic satirical comics, published during the eighties in cultural biweekly Oko. At the beginning of the following decade he published two short comic strips (Dingi i Piki, Frau Blau und ihr tier) in Austrian papers. In 1994, he begun his collaboration with children’s magazine Bijela pčela (“White bee”) from Fiume, in which he publishes humorous comic titled Čipko i djed Filip (“Čipko and Grandpa Philip”). As his cooperation with Bijela pčela is going on, it is clear that Borivoj Dovniković-Bordo is still active as a comics artist.


In 1951, in cooperation with excellent artists, brothers Neugebauer, he contributed to the realization of the first short animated film in Yugoslavia, Veliki miting (“A Large Rally”). Since then he was continuously engaged in animated film. During his long career he has directed, animated and drew 36 short animated films that were awarded at largest and most important animation festivals all around the world. With casual and carefree tone, that characterizes all his achievements, he was able to elaborate eternal and difficult everyday life topics of an ordinary man. All his films, in fact, always have as a constant protagonist “the stubborn and recalcitrant little man” (Ranko Munitić). For him, the animation is the game, and he was always mostly interested in the animation of figures and revival of sketches, in order, as he himself said, “to give them the soul.” Key words of Bordo’s movies are animated caricature figure, simple elaboration of gag and white background from which the characters and objects are born, who embitter the existence of the main hero.

ANIMACIJA JE IGRA Borivoj Dovniković Bordo je jedan od pionira jugoslovenske animacije. Formirao se na izvoru diznijevskog likovnog izraza a ponikao iz karikature Kerempuha. Godine 1951, u saradnji sa izvrsnim crtačima i stripašima, braćom Neugebauer, doprineo je realizaciji prvog kratkog animiranog filma u Jugoslaviji, Veliki miting. Od tada nije prestao da se bavi crtanim filmom. Tokom svoje duge karijere režirao je, animirao i nacrtao 36 kratkometražnih crtanih filmova koji su bili nagrađivani na svim najvećim i najvažnijim svetskim festivalima animiranog filma. Ležernim i bezbrižnim tonom, koji karakteriše sva njegova ostvarenja, uspeo je da elaborira večne i teške životne teme svakodnevnevice malog i običnog čoveka. Svi njegovi filmovi, zapravo, uvek imaju za konstantnog protagonistu tog “tvrdoglavog i nepokornog čovečuljka” (Ranko Munitić). Za Borda, animacija je igra, a ono što ga je uvek najviše zanimalo je da animira figuru i oživi crtež, da mu, kako sam kaže, “podari dušu”. Ključne reci Bordovih filmova su: karikaturalno oživljeni lik, jednostavna elaboracija gega, bela pozadina iz koje se rađaju likovi i predmeti koji glavnom junaku zagorčavaju bivstvovanje. Bordo nikada nije zapostavio jednostavnost komunikacije u korist eksperimentalnog i avangardnog izraza svojstvenog mnogim autorima zagrebačke skole crtanog filma. ANIMATION IS THE GAME Borivoj Dovniković Bordo is one of the pioneers of Yugoslav animation. He formed himself at the source of Disney artistic expression and originated from cartoons published in Kerempuh magazine.

He has never neglected the simplicity of communication in favor of the experimental and avant-garde expression, inherent to many authors originated from Zagreb School of Animation. His short films are, in fact, a mirror of his worldview, his thoughts and cunning. They are a life philosophy of a common man from the Balkans, understood by the whole world even without subtitles. Andriana RUŽIĆ (Beograd, 1972) diplomirala je istoriju i kritiku umetnosti na Università Statale u Milanu. Specijalizovala se za Istoriju animiranog filma kod profesora Đanalberta Bendacija i odbranila tezu na temu stvaralaštva severnoameričkih animatora Džona i Fejt Habli. Animatorsku karijeru Borivoja Dovnikovica Borda proučava u svetlu projekta koji se zove Zagrebačka skola crtanog filma. Živi i radi u Milanu.

(Belgrade, 1972) graduated the history and criticism of art from the Università Statale in Milan, under Professor Giannalberto Bendazzi. She specialized in the history of animated film. The subject of her thesis was the opus of John and Faith Hubley. She studied the animation career of Borivoj Dovniković Bordo, as a part of the project, titled Zagreb School of Animation. She lives and works in Milan.


Jean-PIERRE PÉCAU kroz saradnju sa Fredom Divalom i Fredom Blanšarom. Peko, međutim, ponekad koristi i istorijsku podlogu na konvencionalniji način, kao što je slučaj sa L’Or de France (“Zlato Francuske”), nastalim u saradnji sa istoričarem Denijem Lefevrom i crtačem Tiberijem. Objavljena od strane kuće Lombard, to je grafička novela koja osvetljava malo poznate detalje iz Drugog svetskog rata. Njegova adaptacija knjige Žaka Atalija Une Brève histoire de l’avenir (“Kratka istorija budućnosti”), koju je ilustrovao Damijan, dobila je nagradu Bob Moran u kategoriji Francuski strip 2009. godine.

Žan-Pjer Peko je završio istoriju i radio je kao nastavnik istorije dve godine. Shvativši da je akademski sistem isuviše krut za njega, odlučio je da promeni kurs i pusti da ga mašta vodi. Srećom, sve to se dešava 1980. godine, kada rol-plej igre stižu u Francusku. On se tada odlučuje da započne saradnju sa kompanijom koja se bavi uvozom igara, na projektu Dungeons and Dragons (“Tamnice i zmajevi”). Istovremeno, kao član uredništva, učestvuje u izradi prvih brojeva časopisa Casus Belli. Nakon pet godina rada na prevodima, dizajnu, prvim francuskim rol-plej igrama (L’Ultime Épreuve / “Poslednji test”), kao i ratnim igrama (Les 7 Combattants, L’An Mil), dolazi na televiziju. Pisao je scenarije za serijale kao što je Le Lyonnais (“Lionac”). Konačno, ulazi u svet stripa, kroz scenario za Zentak, serijal koji je crtao Def, a od 1997. objavljuje Delkur. Sledeće godine polaže temelje za serijal Arcanes (“Tajna istorija”) koji će se vremenom razviti u neobičan svet, sačinjen od tri velike priče, sa dvadeset strip albuma. Jean-Pierre Pécau studied history and worked for two years as a history teacher. Realizing that the academic system is too rigid for him, he decided to change course and let the imagination take the helm! Luckily, we are in 1980, and the role play games just arrived in France. He then started to work for company that imported foreign games, on the Dungeons and Dragons project. Simultaneously, as a member of the editorial board, he participated in the drafting of the first issues of the magazine Casus Belli. After five years of varied work on translation, design and edition of the first RPG “made in France” (L’Ultime Épreuve/“The Ultimate Test”) and diplomacy war games (Les 7 Combattants, L’An Mil), he made his way into the world of television. He wrote scripts for shows such as Le Lyonnais. Finally, he entered the world of comics, through scenario for Zentak, series illustrated by Def and published by Delcourt since 1997. Next year, he laid the foundations of Arcanes (“The Secret history”) series that will gradually develop into extraordinary world, consisted of three main stories and produce twenty albums. This is an epic story of four immortal brothers and sisters, entrusted with ivory tarot cards in the dawn of prehistory by a dying shaman, and told never to use the cards together. Leaping through time, they are consumed in an epic struggle to influence and shape the history of Western civilization. Pécau’s taste for history is also reflected in several uchronic comics: Empire (after the conquest of the Ottoman Empire, Napoleon embarks on to India), Le Grand Jeu (the Allies signed a separate peace with Nazi Germany) and Jour J (“D-Day”), co-authored with Fred Duval and Fred Blanchard. However, he sometimes used the historical material as a basis of his stories in more conventional manner, such as in L’Or de France (“The Gold of France”), written in collaboration with historian Denis Lefebvre and illustrated by Tibery for Lombard; this is a graphic novel that sheds light on a little known facts of World War II. His adaptation of the book Une Brève histoire de l’avenir (“A Brief History of the Future”) by Jacques Attali and designed by Damien, has received Bob Morane Award in the category French comic strip in 2009.

Ilustrator, strip crtač i scenarista, Pahek se uporedo bavi i karikaturom. Profesionalni rad započinje u Beogradu 1979. godine. Objavljivao je stripove za Heavy metal (SAD), Fluid Glacial, Delcourt, Glenat (Francuska), Elefterotipiju (Grčka), Eternauti (Italija), Schvermetal (Nemacka). Uradio je sledeće strip albume: Once upon a Time in the Future (1991, SAD/Holandija), Moby Dick (2005, Francuska/Španija), a u zemlji je objavio sledeće naslove Astroiđani (1986, reprint 2009), Legija nepromočivih (1987), Badi kukavica i druge priče (2001), Skrapulonska bebica (2007) i Avili! Avili! (2012). Od 1984. radi naslovne strane sf i fantazi knjiga za izdavačke kuće kao što su Prosveta-Kentaur, Polaris, Edition Nord, Tardis, Sirius B i Zagrebačka Naklada.

Illustrator, comics artist and writer, Pahek is simultaneously involved in caricature. He began the professional work in Belgrade in 1979. He illustrated CD covers for popular Serbian rock bands Džukele, Goblini, Električni Orgazam, Partibrejkers and Iskon. He was guitarist of Džukele (1992 - 2002) and Goblini (CD: U magnovenju, 1995); he also participated in the music project Iznad Istoka i Zapada.(“Above the East and the West”) with Partibrejkers.

Rođen je 1969. u Subotici. Diplomirao je na Fakultetu primenjenih umetnosti i dizajna u Beogradu. Stripom je počeo da se bavi još u osnovnoj i srednjoj školi. Prvi ozbiljni strip objavljen mu je u časopisu Mladost 1988. godine. Zajedno sa Darkom Kovačevićem-(Kowalsky), autor je kultnog strip kaiša What’s New In Da Zoo? koji je izlazio u popularnom subotičkom Flash-u. Za francusku izdavačku kuću Guy Delcourt nacrtao je dve epizode serijala L’ Histoire Secrete scenariste Žan-Pjera Pekoa. Takođe, radio je na dve epizode serijala Le Grande Jeu istog scenariste. Uporedo, za Solej je završio epizodu serijala Ravermoon, scenariste Silvana Kordurijea. Učestovao je i u prvom albumu serijala Beskrvni. Bojan KOVAČEVIĆ Kovačević je rođen u Vojvodini, Srbija. Isprva je studirao pravo, ali se prebacio na stripove. Njegovi počeci usledili su 1989. godine, sa stripovima kao što su Nikoletina B., Frank Filter and Archybad objavljeni za domaće i strane izdavače i publikacije. Bio je kolorista za serijale Abraham Stone (Joe Kubert), Cobra, Cat-Claw (Bane Kerac) i Rubine (Dragan De Lazare). He initially studied law, but soon switched to comics. He debuted in 1989 with comics such as Nikoletina B., Frank Filter and Archybad, created for local and international publishing houses and publications. He colored the following series: Abraham Stone (Joe Kubert), Cobra, Cat-Claw (Bane Kerac) and Rubine (Dragan De Lazare). Between 2004 and 2007, he was the artist of Arcanes, a series he took over from Roland Pignault, published by Delcourt (texts by Jean-Pierre Pécau). He then teamed up with writer Daniel Pecqueur to create Arctica for the same publisher. Signing with simple Boyan, he additionally took over the artwork of Rubine from De Lazare for the run of episodes between 2004 and 2006. He drew the ninth installment in the Jour J series by Jean-Pierre Pécau, Fred Blanchard and Fred Duval for Delcourt in 2011.

Tiberiu BEKA Rođen je 1977. godine u Pančevu. Završio je 2001. godine Fakultet primenjenih umetnosti - Odsek za grafiku i ilustraciju. Stripom se ozbiljnije bavi od 1993. godine kada polazi u školu stripa Đorđe L o b a č e v. Učestvovao je na mnogim izložbama u zemlji i inostranstvu. Godine 1997. u Leskovcu osvaja prvu nagradu za scenario, a naredne godine i prvu nagradu za ilustraciju. Stripove i ilustracije objavljivao je u Politikinom zabavniku, dečjem časopisu Pravoslavlje i drugari, Znaku Sagite i Strip Pressingu. Crtao je Tajnog agenta Izija u stripovima, video igricama i albumu samolepljivih sličica. Album Le Culte Des Tenebres po scenariju JF Di Giorgia izdaje za francuskog izdavača Nuclea2 2003. godine, a kasnije sledi serijal L’empire de la Raison koji je, po scenariju Đorđa Milosavljevića, objavljen u tri toma za Glenat. Radio je na serijalima New Harlem i Uchronia sa Korbejranom. Za izdavačku kuću Lombard izdaje dva toma serijala Lo’r de France, prema scenarijima Žan-Pjer Pekoa i Denija Lefevra.

He was born in 1977 in Pančevo. He graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts - Department of graphics and illustration in 2001. He has been seriously involved in comics since 1993, when he begun to attend the comics school Đorđe Lobačev. He has participated in many exhibitions at home and abroad. In 1997, he won the first prize for best script at Comics Festival in Leskovac, and in the following year the first prize for illustration. His comics and illustrations were published in Politikin zabavnik, children’s magazine Pravoslavlje i drugari, Znak Sagite and Strip Pressing. He has worked on Secret Agent Izzy in comics, video games, and sticker album. In 2003, he published graphic novel Le Culte Des Tenebres, scripted by J.F. Di Giorgio, for French publisher Nuclea2. It was followed by a series L’empire de la Raison, published in three volumes by Glénat, on which he has worked in co-operation with Đorđe Milosavljević. He worked on the series New Harlem and Uchronia together with Corbeyran. He published two volumes of the series Lo’r de France, scripted by Jean-Pierre Pécau and Denis Lefebvre for Lombard.


Jovan UKROPINA Rođen je 1980. godine u Beogradu. Završio je Višu školu likovnih i primenjenih umetnosti u Beogradu. Od 1992. godine član je radionice stripa Đorđe Lobačev. Sarađivao je sa scenaristom Markom Stojanovićem na više kratkih stripova sa kojim je osvojio nekoliko nagrada, među kojima su druga nagrada na strip konkursu u Nišu i prva nagrada Politikinog Zabavnika na konkursu SKC-a u Beogradu. Dobitnik je nagrade IBBY na 44. zlatnom peru Beograda i Grand Prix-a na medjunarodnim salonima stripa u Leskovcu i Beogradu. Objavljivao je svoje stripove u strip magazinima Strip Vilajet, Think Tank i Strip Pressing. Za časopis Blic Žena dugi niz godina realizuje strip Nevena. Za francuskog izdavača 12bis sa scenaristom Jean-Pierre Pécau-om uradio je strip album Là ou vivent les morts. Ilustrovao je knjige za brojne domaće izdavače. Since 1992, he is member of the comics workshop Đorđe Lobačev. He has worked with scriptwriter Marko Stojanović on several short comics, winning several awards, including second prize in the comics competition in Niš and first prize of Politikin zabavnik at the contest of Student Cultural Center, Belgrade. He has received the IBBY award at the 44th competition Golden Pen of Belgrade and he was the winner of Grand Prix at the International Comics Festivals in Leskovac and Belgrade. Boban SAVIĆ GETO Rođen je 1972. godine. Fakultet likovnih umetnosti u Beogradu završio je 1997, a magistarske studije 2000. godine na Fakultetu primenjenih umetnosti, kod mentora prof. Rastka Ćirića. Profesionalno se bavi ilustracijom od 1993, kao i koncept artom i umetničkom supervizijom u video i filmskoj produkciji. Radio je na serijalu L’histoire secrète (“Тajna istorija”) sa francuskim scenaristom Žan-Pjerom Pekoom. (Jean-Pierre Pécau). Živi i radi u Beogradu.

He was born in 1972. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1997. Three years later he finished postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Applied Arts, under the tutorship of prof. Rastko Ćirić. Since 1993, he is professionally engaged in illustration, as well as in concept art and the artistic supervision of the video and film production. Projekat DUGA (Bugarska) Pre više od dve godine mi, grupa kolega koji smo crtali za časopis D’ga (“Duga”), sakupili smo se i posle više susreta i razgovora, rodila se ideja da osnujemo udruženje Proekt’t D’ga (“Projekat Duga”). Sam časopis D’ga bio je najpopularnije izdanje za stripove tokom osamdesetih i devedesetih godina XX veka i njegov tiraž bio je u proseku oko 150.000 kopija. Dešavalo se da bude i dvostruko više od tog broja, a svi primerci uvek su bili rasprodani. Časopis je izdavan, uprkos tome što je bio provodnik „zapadne masovne kulture“, pošto je donosio dobru zaradu partijskom izdavaču Septemvri, koji je uglavnom objavljivao agitacione materijale i knjige.

Udruženje je registrovano marta 2011, a osnivači su Sotir Gelev, Rumen Čaušev i Petar Stanimirov. Njegov cilj je oživljavanje interesa za bugarski strip, kroz shvatanje da je to važan deo evropske kulture koji odavno nije komercijalni proizvod izdavaštva i da njegovo odsustvovanje u našoj sredini, čini samu kulturnu sredinu bednijom. Udruženje se bavi sledećim aktivnostima: kreiranje kolekcije vizuelnih materijala, uključujući i prikupljanje radova umetnika koji se bave stripom (originali, kopije, štampa), te stvaranje baze podataka radova koju svako može da koristi; organizovanje festivala i izložbi posvećenih bugarskom stripu u zemlji i inostranstvu; stvaranje časopisa posvećenih bugarskom stripu; stvaranje filmova i TV emisija vezanih za bugarski strip; razvoj i sprovođenje nastavnih programa vezanih za strip.

U poslednje dve decenije, 2012. je bila najuspešnija godina za bugarski strip. Udruženje je izdalo strip album Nad D’gata, koji je bio štampan u malom tiražu i rasprodao se za nekoliko dana. Mnogo ljubitelja nije uspelo da ga kupi i odasvud su pristizale molbe da se odštampaju dodatni primerci. Odlučili smo da album ne štampamo, već da ga ostavimo kao kolekcionarsko izdanje, a da bi uslišili želje fanova, organizovali smo događaj naslovljen Prvo zvanično piratsko izdanje albuma Nad D’gata, tokom kojeg smo besplatno davali album u elektronskoj formi i visokoj rezoluciji, sa jedinim uslovom “da ga svako širi besplatno na sve zakonite i nezakonite načine”. Zanimljivo, akcija nije izazvala negativni odjek kod ljudi koji su ga kupili, već je povećala vrednost štampane verzije albuma. Potom je sa velikim uspehom organizovana izložba na kojoj je predstavljen album i tokom koje je kroz sofijsku galeriju Altroniks Lajt prošlo 2000 ljudi. Ona je putovala kroz sedam bugarskih gradova – Varnu, Jambol, Đustendil, Dupnicu, Ruse, Sliven i Burgas – po pozivu fanova koji su sve sami organizovali. U okviru Saveza bugarskih umetnika organizovana je strip sekcija. Naš kolega Petar Stanimirov dobio je nagradu za najbolji klasični strip na Beogradskom salonu stripa. Predstavljen je album Maugli (“Mogli”) Penka Geleva, propraćen predavanjima Antona Stajkova, P. Stanimirova i Evgenija Jordanova. Preko 20.000 ljudi ispratilo je ove događaje na društvenim mrežama. Udruženje će septembra 2013. organizovati prvu nacionalnu izložbu posvećenu savremenom bugarskom stripu. Prema preliminarnim obaveštenjima, učestvovaće oko 60 umetnika sa 400 tabli, a posebna pažnja biće posvećena mladim umetnicima. Trenutno radimo na drugom broju albuma Nad D’gata, a nastojimo da do kraja godine objavimo istoriju bugarskog stripa, koja započinje još tokom tridesetih godina XX veka i koju je gradilo preko sto osamdeset autora.


Project D’GA (Bulgaria)

More than two years ago, we, a group of colleagues who were artists in the magazine D’ga (“Rainbow”), were gathered, and after several meetings and discussions, the idea was born to establish an association named Proekt’t D’ga (“Project D’ga”). Magazine D’ga was the most popular edition for comic books during the eighties and nineties of the twentieth century, and its circulation reached an average of 150.000 copies. Sometimes the number was even twofold, and all copies were regularly sold out. The magazine has been published despite being a conductor of “Western mass culture”, for it brought a good profit to the party publisher September, that mainly printed agitation materials and books. The Association was registered in March 2011 and its founders are Sotir Gelev Rumen Chaushev and Peter Stanimirov. Its aim is a revival of interest in Bulgarian comics, realizing that this is an important part of European culture, which is not a product of commercial publishing for a long time, and that its absence in our environment makes the culture itself poorer. The association is engaged in the following activities: creation of a collection of visual materials, including the collection of the works of comics artists (originals, copies, prints) and formation of its database that anyone can use; organization of festivals and exhibitions dedicated to the Bulgarian comics in the country and abroad, creation of the Bulgarian magazines dedicated to comics; creation of movies and TV shows related to Bulgarian comic; development and implementation of educational programs related to comics. Looking back at the last two decades, 2012 was the most successful year for the Bulgarian

comics. The association issued album titled Nad D’gata (“Above the Rainbow”), published in a small print run and sold out in a few days. Many fans did not manage to buy it and from everywhere the requests came asking for additional copies to be printed. We decided to leave it as a collector’s edition, but in order to fulfill the wishes of the fans we organized an event, named The first official pirate edition of the Nad D’gata album, giving the edition in e-format and in high resolution for free, under just one condition “that everyone should spread it for free, using all legal and illegal means”. Interestingly enough, the action did not cause a negative response from people who bought the album and it led to the increase of the value of the printed version. Then, with great success, an exhibition was organized where the album was presented, during which 2000 people passed through Altronics Light gallery in Sofia. The exhibition traveled through seven Bulgarian cities – Varna, Yambol, Kyustendil, Dupnitsa, Ruse, Sliven and Burgas – invited by local fans who organized everything. In the Union of Bulgarian Artists a comics section was established. Our colleague Peter Stanimirov won the award for best classical comics at the Festival in Belgrade. Graphic novel Maugli by Penko Gelev was presented, followed by the series of lectures given by Anton Staykov, P. Stanimirov and Evgeny Jordanov. More than 20.000 people were following these events via social networks. In September 2013, the association will organize the first national exhibition dedicated to contemporary Bulgarian comics. According to the preliminary notices, it will include about 60 artists with 400 boards, and special attention will be devoted to young artists. We are currently working on the second edition of the album Nad D’gata and before the end of the year we will try to publish a history of the Bulgarian comics; it began way back in the thirties and during the course of years over one hundred and eighty authors left their mark.


HICKORY SALOON (Rumunija/Romania) Evo o čemu je reč: Hickory Saloon (“Hikorijev Salun”) je prevashodno priča o vlasniku saluna Vilijemu Hikoriju, željnom novca, ali dobre duše, i njegovoj potrazi za zaradom na Divljem zapadu. Ona nije bez teškoća. Sputavaju je manipulativni i beskrupulozni propovednik Karmajkl, konfederalni odmetnici, razbojnici, plaćenici i... šimpanze iz svemira. Projekat je još uvek u radnoj fazi, i u potrazi za izdavačem. Autori su odlučili da ne budu strpljivi i da čekaju da se stvari same dese, već su krenuli da projekat direktno predstavljaju potencijalnim fanovima, baš kao što bi to i matori Hikori učinio.

thugs, outlaws, mercenaries and… space chimps. The project is still very much a work in progress and in search of a publisher. The authors decided to abandon the patience of waiting things to happen and have taken the project on a road-show directly to the prospective fans. Jus’ like Ol’ Hickory would’ve done.

Claudiu Revnic, writer: Life-long comic book fan, he

JUBILEJI | ANNIVERSARIES 100 GODINA OD ROĐENJA NIKOLE NAVOJEVA Ove godine navršava se 100 godina od rođenja jednog od najistaknutijih međuratnih majstora stripa Nikole Pavloviča Navojeva. Rođen u Petrogradu, 25. novembra 1913.godine, u Kraljevinu SHS, odnosno Srbiju, stigao je sa porodicom početkom dvadesetih godina prošlog veka bežeći ispred rata i Revolucije. Pripada onoj generaciji ruskih emigranata koja se školovala u novoj sredini. Sa prvim ostvarenjima javlja se već 1935. u Stripu, prvom srpskom i jugoslovenskom listu ispunjenom crtanim pričama, na čijim stranama je u prvoj polovini 1936. objavio strip o ljupkoj i borbenoj devojci iz džungle -Tarzaneti. Iste godine postaje saradnik Mike Miša za koji je tokom 1936-1939, prema scenarijima Branka Vidića nacrtao stripove Hajdukov sin, Osvajači Severnog pola, Otmica lepe Turkinje i tri epizode serijala Mali moreplovac. Najviše stripova objavio je u Mikijevom carstvu, potpisujući se pseudonimom Nick Woodly; tokom 1939. i 1940. godine, u saradnji sa Vidićem, kreirao je desetak storija podeljenih u skoro trideset epizoda, među kojima centralno mesto pripada serijalima Mladi Bartulo, Zigomar i Dve sirotice. Prva dva su kreirana po klasičnom obrascu avanturističkog stripa tridesetih godina i prema izvornom sižeima, dok su Dve sirotice bile inspirisane melodramskim romanom A. d’Enerija. Pored pomenutih, za Mikijevo carstvo nacrtao je i niz drugih stripova. Njegov tek započeti strip Okovi prošlosti, van svake sumnje najezoteričniji strip srpskog i jugoslovenskog stripa tridesetih godina, posle njegove smrti nastavio je Ivan Šenšin. Stripovi su mu preštampavani u Francuskoj i Bugarskoj. Preminuo je u sanatorijumu za TBC kod Venca na Fruškoj Gori, 9. novembra 1940. godine.

100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF NIKOLA NAVOYEV This year is marked with the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the most distinguished comics artists of the interwar period – Nikola Pavlovich Navoyev. He was born in St. Petersburg, on November 25, 1913. He arrived in Serbia (Kingdom of SHS) with his family in the early twenties, escaping from the war and the Russian Revolution. He belonged to the generation of Russian immigrants who acquired their education in the new environment. His first works were published in 1935, in Strip, first Serbian and Yugoslav magazine that published cartooned stories. On its pages, in the first half of 1936, he published a comic about lovely and fighting girl from the jungle – Tarzanetta. In the same year, he begun his collaboration with Mika Miš (“Mickey Mouse”); during the 1936-1939 for this magazine he drew the following comics, scripted by Branko Vidić: Hajdukov sin, Osvajači Severnog pola, Otmica lepe Turkinje, as well as three episodes of the series Mali moreplovac (“Little sailor”). Most of his comics were published in Mikijevo carstvo (“Mickey’s empire”), under the pseudonym Nick Woodly. During 1939-1940 and in collaboration with Vidić, he created a dozen stories divided in almost thirty episodes, among which the central role belonged to the series Mladi Bartulo, Zigomar and Les Deux Orphelines. The first two were original stories, created in classical adventure comic form, while Les Deux Orphelines was inspired by the melodramatic novel written by A. Dennery. Besides these, he did a series of other comics published in Mikijevo carstvo. The comic Okovi prošlosti (“Chains of the Past”), beyond doubt the most esoteric Serbian and Yugoslav comic of the thirties that he commenced, was continued by Ivan Šenšin after his death. Navoyev’s comics were reprinted in Bulgaria and France. He died in a sanatorium for tuberculosis near Venac on Fruška gora, on Nevember 9, 1940.

50 GODINA EDICIJE NIKAD ROBOM U maju ove godine navršilo se 50 godina od pojave prvog broja edicije Nikad robom. Ovu ediciju koja je obeležila šestu deceniju strip izdavaštva u Srbiji i Jugoslaviji pokrenula je u to vreme malo poznata izdavačka kuća Dečje novine iz Gornjeg Milanovca. Nazvana je po stripu Desimira Žižovića Buina, lansiranom na stranicama Dečjih novina, u kome su objavljivane avanture malih partizanskih kurira Mirka i Slavka. Pomenuta edicija je iznedrila još nekoliko serijala čiji su junaci postigli lep uspeh kod čitalaca: Akant Radivoja Bogičevića, Neustrašivi Radivoja Bogičevića i Marije Nicić, Blažo i Jelica Dobrice Erića i Radivoja Bogičevića (serijal je kasnije preuzeo Branko Plavšić), Dabiša Božidara Veselinovića i Tajanstveni vitez Petra Radičevića. U ediciji je objavljen čitav niz priča iz nacionalne istorije, na čijoj realizaciji je radila brojna ekipa crtača i tekstopisaca. Međutim, nijedan junak lansiran na njenim stranicama po popularnosti se nije mogao meriti sa Mirkom i Slavkom. Zbog toga je od 195. broja, 4. aprila 1969, edicija Nikad robom transformisana u ediciju o Mirku i Slavku. Izvorna serija je, u nešto izmenjenom obliku, nastavila da izlazi tokom školske 1969/70. pod naslovom Crtana škola, da bi se posle tridesetak brojeva ugasila. Dobivši nekoliko podizdanja Mirko i Slavko su štampani u tiražu do dvesta hiljada primeraka. Njihovi likovi eksploatisani su u raznim vidovima: štampani su pisani romani, rađeni dija-filmovi, aplikacije za majice, đačke torbe, motivi za sveske, omote i drugi školski pribor. Na kraju, 1973. godine, snimljen je dugometražni igrani film Mirko i Slavko u režiji Torija Jankovića. Usled hiperprodukcije serijala tokom sedamdesetih godina dolazi do pada kvaliteta i, konačno, 1979. godine do gašenja edicije Nikad robom.

50TH ANNIVERSARY OF NIKAD ROBOM EDITION This year in May was the 50th Anniversary of first issue of Nikad robom (“Never Surrender”) edition. Launched by then a little-known publishing house Dečje novine (“Children’s Newspaper”) from Gornji Milanovac, the edition marked the comics scene of the sixties in Serbia and Yugoslavia. The edition is named after the namesake comic, created by Desimir Žižović Buin and published on the pages of Dečje novine, that followed the adventures of young partisan couriers Mirko and Slavko. Nikad Robom gave birth to several more series, whose heroes were heartily accepted by readers: Acant, created by Radivoj Bogičević; Neustrašivi (“The Fearless”) by Bogičević and Marija Nicić; Blažo and Jelica, by Dobrica Erić and Bogičević (later Branko Plavšić took over the work on the series); Dabiša by Božidar Veselinović and Tajanstveni vitez (“The Mysterious Knight”) by Petar


Radičević. In the edition a number of stories inspired by national history were published, on which numerous crew of artists and scriptwriters worked. However, not a single of its heroes enjoyed such popularity as Mirko and Slavko. Therefore, following issue no. 195, published on April 4, 1969, the name of the edition was transformed to edition dedicated to Mirko and Slavko. The original edition continued to be published during the 1969/70, bearing the name Crtana škola (“The cartooned school”), only to fade away after thirty more issues. Printed in several sub-editions Mirko and slavko reached the circulation of 200 thousand copies and their characters appeared in written novels, filmstrips, on T-shirts, school bags, notebooks, covers and other school accessories. At the end of 1973, the feature film Mirko and Slavko was shot, directed by Tori Janković. Due to the hyper production during the seventies, the series declined in the quality; finally, in 1979, Nikad Robom edition ceased to exist.

40 GODINA OD PRVOG POJAVLJIVANJA STRIPA ZA DECU ZUZUKO Ove godine navršava se četiri decenije od kako se u 5. broju lista za najmlađe Zeka, 5. 11. 1973. godine, prvi put pojavio dečji humoristički strip Zuzuko Zdravka Zupana. Do danas Zuzuko je povremeno izlazio u listovima: Zeka, YU strip, Male novine, Letnji i Zimski zabavnik Malih novina, Vesela sveska, Balon, Dečje novine, Totem, Suncokret, Munja strip... Od kraja 2002. godine stalni je sadržaj u dečjem enigmatskom zabavniku Munja. Poslednjih godina redovno izlazi i u u dečjem listu Bijela pčela koji u Hrvatskoj izdaje Srpsko društvo Prosvjeta. Zuzuko je pretežno rađen u geg tablama, izuzev nekoliko kraćih epizoda od dve do četiri strane. Pored Zupana. na pisanju scenarija učestvovali su Nikola Maslovara i Vasa Pavković.

40 YEARS SINCE THE FIRST APPEARANCE OF ZUZUKO, COMICS FOR CHILDREN This year marks four decades since the first appearance of humorous children’s comic Zuzuko, created by Zdravko Zupan. It was printed for the first time in the fifth issue of magazine Zeka, on November 5, 1973. Zuzuko occasionally appeared in the following magazines: Zeka, YU strip, Male novine, Letnji Zabavnik, Zimski zabavnik, Vesela sveska, Balon, Dečje novine, Totem, Suncokret, Munja strip... Since late 2002, it as a regular content in children’s entertainment magazine Munja. In recent years, it is also present in children’s paper Bijela pčela (“The White Bee”), published in Croatia by Serbian society Prosveta. Zuzuko is mainly made in short strips, except several episodes ranging from two to four pages. In addition to Zdravko Zupan, the comic is also scripted by Nikola Maslovara and Vasa Pavković.

15 GODINA BALKANSKE SMOTRE MLADIH STRIP AUTORA Leskovačka škola stripa Nikola Mitrović Kokan, koja je maja 2013. godine obeležila 18 godina postojanja i rada, već petnaest godina organizuje Balkanske smotre mladih strip autora, čiji je idejni tvorac, i sa Srđanom Nikolićem Pekom organizator, leskovački strip scenarista Marko Stojanović. Godine 2012. je sa uspehom održana 14. Balkanska smotra mladih strip autora, koja je imala rekordnih 393 izlagača, što je čini najmasovnijom strip manifestacijom na prostoru čitavog Balkana. Takođe, imala je i oko šezdeset renomiranih gostiju koji su lično prisustvovali manifestaciji, od čega je trideset njih iz susednih zemalja. To je jedina strip manifestacija na Balkanu koja se deklariše kao balkanska i ohrabruje povezivanje strip scena balkanskih zemalja.

15 YEARS OF THE BALKAN FESTIVAL OF YOUNG COMICS ARTISTS Comic school Nikola Mitrovic Kokan marked its 18th anniversary in May 2013. For fifteen years it organizes the Balkan Festival of Young comic artists. The creator of the festival is Marko Stojanović, who is also its chief organizer together with Srđan Nikolić Peka. In 2012, the 14th Festival was successfully held. Record number of 393 exhibitors participated, which made it the most massive comic event in the whole Balkans. Also it had sixty distinguished guests, half of which came from the neighboring countries. It is the unique comic event in the Balkans that is declared as the Balkan festival and that encourages the establishment of links between comics scenes of Balkan countries.

10 GODINA DEČJEG ENIGMATSKOG ZABAVNIKA MUNJA U decembru prošle godine navršilo se deset godina od kako se na kioscima pojavio prvi broj dečjeg enigmatskog zabavnika Munja u izdanju izdavačkog preduzeća Stella iz Beograda. Munja je ispunjen kratkim stripovima, raznovrsnim enigmatskim, edukativnim zadacima i igrama primerenim uzrastu od četiri do deset godina. Sadržaj je prezentiran kroz galeriju simpatičnih likova koje je kreirao Zdravko Zupan. Zahvaljujući neverovatnoj upornosti i entuzijazmu svojih saradnika, kao i kvalitetu ilustrovanih, enigmatskih i tekstualnih priloga, Munja je izborio svoje mesto na probirljivom tržištu dečje štampe. Tome su, nesumljivo, doprinela i dva posebna izdanja Munja bojanka i Munja strip.

10 YEARS OF CHILDREN’S ENTERTAINMENT MAGAZINE MUNJA In December last year, there was ten years since the first appearance of the children’s entertainment magazine Munja (“The Flash”), published by company Stella from Belgrade. Munja consists of short comics, engimatic and educational content and children’s games appropriate to the age of four to ten. The content is presented through the gallery of cute characters created by Zdravko Zupan. Thanks to the incredible persistence and enthusiasm of its employees, as well as the quality of the illustrated, enigmatic and text features, Munja managed to establish itself at the picky market of children’s press. It is, beyond doubt, also due to its two special editions – Munja bojanka and Munja strip.


IN MEMORIAM Miodrag MARKOVIĆ – MIŠA (1943-2012.) Istaknuti srpski crtač stripova Miodrag Miša Marković umro je 7. jula 2012. posle duge i teške bolesti u 69. godini u Nišu. Po profesiji arhitekta, u slobodno vreme bavio se crtanjem stripova, ilustracijom, skulptorstvom i fotografijom. Prema sopstvenom priznanju poseban afinitet gajio je prema SF-u i avanturističkom stripu. Na nagradnom konkursu Dečjih novina 1978. godine Marković je osvojio prvu nagradu sa stripom savremene tematike Događaj na mirnom putu. Prvi strip, rađen u karikaturalnom maniru, publikovan mu je u Glasu omladine, odnosno njegovom podlistku za pionire u periodu od 1964-1968. pod naslovom Doživljaji malog Miše. Nakon toga objavljuje u istom maniru stripove Doživljaji Raška nestaška i Dečak Horacije i njegova okolina u dečjem dodatku niških Narodnih novina. Prvi realistički strip nacrtao je prema popularnoj američkoj TV seriji Razgolićeni grad po scenariju D. Jankovića Belog 1967. godine na zahtev redakcije TV novosti. Godine 1976. uspostavlja saradnju sa Dečjim novinama u čijoj će ediciji Nikad robom (Kurir) objaviti najveći broj svojih stripova. Tokom 1976-1979. odštampani su mu stripovi sa tematikom iz NOB-a: Neustrašiva Vera, Legendarna Ganimete, Mitraljezac Zlate, Veseli harmonikaš, Radović Darinka, Zagreb, Bumerang 1941 i Kontraobaveštajna greška. Ovi, kao i potonji Markovićevi stripovi, nastali su pod snažnim uticajem američkog strip crtača Al Viljemsona čiji je bio veliki poštovalac. U Yu stripu je sa scenaristom Đuricom Labovićem otpočeo seriju o akcijama kontraobaveštajaca u ratnom i poratnom periodu, Crnogorski „Štirlic“ (1980) i Operacija „Avala“ (1983), a sa S. Petrovićem je realizovao dve epizode avanturističkog serijala o Stivu pod naslovom Mafija na Ibisi (1983).

Prominent Serbian comics artist Miodrag Miša Marković died on July 7, 2012 after a long illness at the age of 69 in the city of Niš. Architect by profession, in spare time he was involved in comics, illustration, photography and sculpture art. According to his own admission, he harbored a special affinity towards SF and adventure comics. At the prize competition of Dečje Novine in 1978 he won the first prize with comic of contemporary thematic, titled Događaj na mirnom putu (“An Event on a quiet Road”). His first caricature strip Doživljaji malog Miše was published in the supplement of Glas omladine for young readers during 1964-1968. Subsequently he published similar comics titled Doživljaji Raška nestaška and Dečak Horacije i njegova okolina in children’s supplement of Narodne novine from Niš. His first realistic comic was the adaptation of American popular television series The naked city, scripted by D. Janković and done at the request of the editorial board of TV Novosti in 1967. In 1976, his collaboration with Dečje Novine begun; for the edition Nikad robom he published most of his comics. During 1976-1979 his comics inspired by themes from WW2 and published in this edition were: Neustrašiva Vera, Legendarna Ganimete, Mitraljezac Zlate, Veseli harmonikaš, Radović Darinka, Zagreb, Bumerang 1941 and Kontraobaveštajna greška. These, as well as later Marković’s comics were created under the strong influence of American artist Al Williamson, whose great admirer he was. In Yu Strip he begun a series of comics which followed counterspies’ actions during the war and after the war era, titled Crnogorski „Štirlic“ (1980) and Operacija „Avala“ (1983), scripted by Đurica Labović; together with S. Petrović he did two episodes of adventure series about Steve titled Mafija na Ibisi (1983). During the eighties NIŠRO Dnevnik Publishing employed Marković to work on a comics project Lun, kralj ponoći (“Lun, the King of the Midnight”). Besides three episodes of Lun, he did erotic comic Svingerska zabava for the same publisher and printed in 1991 in its edition Sex Strip. At the end of the eighties he scripted and illustrated stories on the adolescents’ life, titled Put u likovno društvo and published in in magazine Male Novine. Ratomir PETROVIĆ – RACA (1942-2012.)

Osamdesetih godina NIŠRO Dnevnik angažuje Markovića na strip projektu Lun, kralj ponoći. Pored tri sveske stripa o Lunu,on je za potrebe novosadskog izdavača nacrtao i jedan erotski strip Svingerska zabava, publikovan 1991. u njihovom Seks stripu. U Malim novinama se krajem osamdesetih predstavio kao kompletan autor pričom iz života adolescenata Put u likovno društvo. Polovinom devedesetih godina Miša Marković je sarađivao i u Balonu, izdanju BIGZ-a, u kome je objavio stripove Majk Gof i Aurora. Zdravko Zupan

U Beogradu je 11. marta 2012. u 71. godini života preminuo poznati srpski strip crtač Ratomir Petrović Raca.


Otišao je tiho kao što je živeo poslednjih godina i zato ova tužna vest stiže sa velikim zakašnjenjem. Rođen je 16. februara 1942. godine u Gračanici na Kosovu. Pohađao je Srednju školu za primenjenu umetnost u Peći. Crtanjem stripova počeo je da se bavi u ranoj mladosti, a pažnju javnosti na sebe je prvi put skrenuo 1963. godine učestvujući na strip konkursu Plavog vjesnika. Negovao je kako realistički tako i karikaturalni stil. Samostalno i kao član strip grupe Beogradski krug 2 učestvovao je na mnogim izložbama stripa u Srbiji, Hrvatskoj i Sloveniji. Prve stripove publikovao je tokom 60-tih godina u prištinskim dnevnim listovima na albanskom i srpskom jeziku Rilindja i Jedinstvo. U Rilindji je objavio naučno fantastični strip Metana, jedan krimić pod naslovom Kidnapimi i pomorski strip iz NOB-a Bijt e Detit. Godine 1969. Raca i scenarista Dimitrije Šućin realizovali su za kratkotrajnu ediciju Rilindje, ABC strip, stripove Hakmarresi, Tradhetari, Kurtha, Eranda i Alma. U Jedinstvu, dnevnom listu na srpskom jeziku obradio je poznate bajke i narodne pripovetke Toma Palčić, Biberče i Ero s onoga svijeta; pored toga nacrtao je jedan naučnofantastični strip Izlet u svemir, kao i nekoliko stripova iz NOB-a prema vlastitim scenarijima: Odred smelih, Bombaš Marko, Zadatak je izvršen, Napad na Rajlovac, Heroji piloti i dr. Godine 1967. postaje stalni saradnik Dečjih novina iz Gornjeg Milanovca. Asistirao je Desimiru Žižoviću Buinu na nekoliko desetina svezaka stripa o Mirku i Slavku u ediciju Nikad robom. U svojoj dugogodišnjoj karijeri Raca je sarađivao sa raznim scenaristima, a ponekad se i sam oprobao na tom polju. Prema scenarijima Lea Korelca radio je na serijalu iz NOB-a VOS; sa scenaristom Bobanom Kneževićem objavio je nekoliko epizoda naučnofantastičnog serijala Jason u Vjesnikovom RS magazinu, odnosno Našem stripu; u istom časopisu mu je odštampan i strip Stravični let (autor scenarija Bojan M. Đukić); pored toga za Vjesnik je u saradnji sa bratom Georgijem Petrovićem nacrtao preko hiljadu tabli licencnog stripa Tom i Džeri; u Kekecu je po scenariju Dragoljuba Dragana Savića objavio vestern Maršal Dover, a po scenariju Cirila Galea istorijski strip Pustolovine viteza Goražda. Krajem devedesetih sarađivao je u zabavniku Vrelo u kome je objavio karikaturalni strip Saša, Raša i Gaša i strip o devojčici poznavaocu borilačkih veština Sanja Karate. Pored pomenutih izdanja stripovi su mu izlazili i u Juniorskom strip albumu, Frontu, Vidicima i drugim listovima.

Zdravko Zupan In Belgrade on March 11, 2012, at the age of 71 famous Serbian comics artist Ratomir Petrović Raca died. He went quietly as he lived during the last years, so the sad news came with a big delay. He was born on February 16, 1942, in Gračanica in Kosovo. He attended the High School of Applied Arts in Peć. In early youth he started to draw comics and he became object of public attention for the first time in 1963, when he participated in the contest organized by Plavi vjesnik. He fostered both the realistic and the caricature style. Independently and as a member of the group Beogradski krug 2, he participated in many comics in Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. He published his first comics in the sixties, in Priština papers Rilindja i Jedinstvo, issued in Albanian and Serbian respectively. In Rilindja, he published SF comic Metana, detective story titled Kidnapimi and war comics with navy thematic Bijt e Detit. For ABC Strip, the short-lived edition of Rilindja, Raca and script writer Dimitrije Šućin did the following comics Hakmarresi, Tradhetari, Kurtha, Eranda and Alma.
