Because people are arriving at different times, our first meeting isn’t until tomorrow, so take time today to relax from your flight and adjust to the time difference. Spend time at the pool or the beach, maybe visit the spa, or just nest and nap in your beautiful hotel room.
Today we travel back in time— waaay back! This is a full day that begins at the Tarxien and Hypogeum Temples. This sacred site, carved entirely out of Malta’s bedrock, dates to 3,600 BCE. The Hypogeum is becoming known as much for the brainaltering acoustical properties its architects built into it, as for the delicate paintings and Hal Saflieni Hypogeum detailed artifacts found there. How did these early people create this amazing place?

Day 7 (may 26), Tuesday, morning at leisure, Silent, walled city of Mdina After lunch you will depart to Mdina. The history of Mdina traces back more than 4000 years. According to tradition it was here that in 60 AD that the Apostle St. Paul is said to have lived after being shipwrecked on the Islands. Furthermore it is said that St. Paul resided inside the grotto known as Fuori le Mura (outside the city walls) now known as St. Pauls Grotto in Rabat. Lamp lit by night and referred to as “the silent city”, Mdina is fascinating to visit for its timeless atmosphere as well as its cultural and religious treasures. It was home then, as now, to Malta’s noble families; some are descendants of the Norman, Sicilian and Spanish overlords who made Mdina their home from the 12th century onwards. Impressive palaces line its narrow, shady streets. Mdina is one of Europe’s finest examples of an ancient walled city and extraordinary in its mix of medieval and Baroque architecture. During our tour we will stop at the bastions of Mdina where one can admire the extensive views of Malta from one of the highest points on the island.

Special Guest Lecturer and Guide Francis Xavier Aloisio: visionary artist; writer; healer and teacher. Francis spent more than half of his life abroad, first in Peru as a missionary priest and then in England where he eventually settled after resigning from the Church. He worked as a Probation Officer and Social Worker and eventually became Chief Executive of a Charity in Sussex UK caring for people with learning disabilities. While abroad, he grew to appreciate more - all that was Maltese, although he realized that not many people knew about the temples of Malta.
On his return home, he had a strong urge to find a way to promote the unique wealth of the Maltese prehistoric culture. Firstly he completed a collection of paintings from Malta's prehistory to contemporary society. Later, he exchanged the brush to the pen and started doing his own research on the Temples. This has given him an incredible insight into these mysterious structures. He is at present completing a trilogy on the temples of Malta, and Islands of Dream is the first of this opus-fiction where the hidden mysteries of the prehistoric sites of Malta and Gozo are uncovered and revealed. Francis started painting late in his life as a way of self-expression; he went on to attain a Certificate in Art at the University of Brighton. He draws his inspiration for his art and his writing from his Maltese background and his experience in South America. He is also interested in complementary therapies and healing practices, and has had some hands-on experiences in the UK and Canada.
His New Novel: Islands of Dream The Maltese Prehistoric Temples are filled with enigmatic mysteries, ancient wisdom and vibrant energies. These mysterious structures sat there in isolated silence for many centuries. After being overlooked and ignored for many thousands of years by post-Neolithic man, finally the hidden mysterious of these incredible prehistoric sites of Malta and Gozo are uncovered. • • •
Who actually built these majestic and mysterious structures? Why are there so many temple sites on this small Island? What was the real purpose of the Stone Circles?
The novelogue Islands of Dream delves into the magic and secrets of these sacred places and recounts the meeting of a local couple with a foreigner in a series of fictitious dialogues and exchange of views about the prehistoric sites. Although these views about the temples are expressed in the form of a novel, this does not diminish the hidden truths exposed, expressed and discussed between the main protagonists of the novel. Some of these will be the subject of disbelief, arguments and disagreement by many, but they will resonate with many others. The book is intended to challenge conventional outlook and fixed theories about the Temples, and to raise awareness of other concepts and views about the Temples. This may be the first book that looks at the sacred structures from a holistic perspective. A lot of people today are asking for the truth to be known, ready to rediscover old beliefs, explore new territories, accept new thoughts and welcome new realities. These unique temples, with their encoded secrets, might have the key to humanity’s lifelong search for the true history of our ancient past.
