Context Tamil Nadu, houses 6% of the country’s population, has been one of the top performing states against SDG goals with a composite SDG score of 67, overall India ranking being 4th (Niti Aayog SDG Index 2019-20). Tamil Nadu also ranks as a top state in the SDG Goal 1 – No poverty. Over 4% of the total CSR spend has been allocated in the state. However, its performance is low on the SDG Goals of 2 (Zero Hunger), 5 (Gender Equality) and 13 (Climate Action). The state’s average on children health and nutrition has been far lower than the country’s average. Additionally, Tamil Nadu was also one of the worst affected states due to Covid-19 affecting the marginalised community at large. In the post covid scenario, it is imperative for Tamil Nadu to focus on combining diverse resources in creating effective approach to usher in tech led transformational impact in the most backward areas. Multi-stakeholder partnerships to bring in localised impact would be the corner stone for the state to retain its position as top performers on SDG index.

About the Summit

The summit intends to bring together grass-root level change makers, CSR leaders, high-impact philanthropists and the government officials towards laying the foundation of an impact collaborative for furthering social impact in Tamil Nadu in the coming decade. The key outcomes of the event are to; 1. Unveil the Tamil Nadu CSR Report 2021. Highlight the evolutionof CSR and innovations/best practices that development projects have undertaken in Tamil Nadu 2. Enable identification of key sectors that Tamil Nadu should focus on in the next 3-5 years to reimagine development and rehabilitate marginalised populations 3. Explore pathways for corporates, NGOs and Government to collaborate in order to redirect resources to the most underserved areas

Format

The event, a hybrid one, would have panel discussions on thematic areas relevant to the state of Tamil Nadu with CSR ecosystem experts. To share best practices and craft a collaborative way forward.
