Generative AI is taking the tech world by a storm, and for a good reason. With its ability to create new and unique content ranging from text, imagery, videos, music content and more, generative AI is revolutionizing businesses across industries ranging from manufacturing, healthcare, IT, arts and design, advertising, and marketing.

Two of the most significant breakthroughs in the field of generative AI are development of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Large Language Models (LLM’s). GANs are a type of deep learning algorithm that can generate new data using two neural networks, one network generates the content, while the other network evaluates its quality. This allows blazing fast creation of images, video, and text data that is indistinguishable from real data expanding scope of application in fashion, film, and gaming industries where the ability to generate high-quality content quickly and efficiently is crucial.

Large Language Models (LLMs) such as Open AI’s Chat GPT and Google’s Bard efficiently generate human-like text based on natural language inputs enabling them to write essays, code and provide information whereas Dall-E, built using OpenAI's GPT implementation can generate imagery in multiple styles driven by user prompts, such as "a collage of a giraffe in a field of flowers.“

These capabilities make them driving systems for chatbots and virtual assistants, speech recognition and text-to-speech interfaces. Companies like Salesforce, Air India, Duolingo, Snapchat, Microsoft, Koo and more have integrated use of generative AI to optimize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools and automate tasks to compose emails, schedule meetings, autogenerate personalized agent chat replies to customers, provide customer insights, and more.

Generative AI also has applications in healthcare and medicine. For example, researchers at the University of Cambridge have used generative AI to develop new drug candidates for Alzheimer's disease. By analyzing patterns in existing data, the AI system was able to generate new compounds that showed promise as potential treatments for the disease. Despite the many benefits of generative AI, there are also concerns pertaining to Regulatory & Compliance issues, Data Security, Model Bias, and potential misuse owing to its ability to create fake news and propaganda, generate deepfake videos that are indistinguishable from real videos and make new content that is based on existing works harming the interests of creators.

Just so you know, this introductory note was written with the assistance of ChatGPT! Surprised?

MMA in association with EY is organizing a conclave to facilitate understanding of business applications, limitations, regulatory considerations and use cases of these tools. This conclave will be addressed through live presentation, panel discussion by experts from industry and question and answer round to address doubts
