This book is about a Leadership style rarely found nowadays. The ability to have a macro view, and at the same time look at details is not something inborn but develops through experience.

The chapters of the book take the reader through the authors experience in different organizations where examples of outstanding leadership as well as ineffective leadership are chronicled. The story is followed by the appropriate concept at that point in time.

The Process Approach based on the PDCA cycle could either be implicit in the Leadership style in the case of a Public Sector Steel Plant or explicit in the chapter on Project Management. The Process Approach does not rule out a combination of approaches including bench marking and business process re-engineering, and consequently corresponding chapters on these subjects.

The emphasis is on experiential learning and a structured approach to Organizational transformation including Quality System Standards, where the focus is on the enablers, and the Quality Award processes are a part of the Organizations Business Strategy.

Personnel in Engineering and Automotive Industries would find this book meaningful in New Product Development, especially when transiting from AIAG’s 4th edition of FMEA to the combined AIAG-VDA First edition FMEA Handbook. Educational Institutions would also benefit from specific references. Last but not least are specific references to Failure modes in Civil Engineering , Architecture and Aviation.
