This is a kaleidoscopic account of the remarkable life story of Alladi Ramakrishnan (1923-2008), an internationally reputed physicist, and son of Sir Alladi Krishnaswami Iyer (1883-1953), one of India's most eminent jurists.
Part I of the autobiography gives a fascinating account of his early life in Madras during the last decades of British Colonial rule and the leading role played by Sir Alladi in drafting the Constitution of India. Then follows the incredible saga of his creation of MATSCIENCE, The Institute of Mathematical Sciences in Madras, inspired by his visit to the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, and the result of his orgainisation of a Theoretical Physics Seminar in his family home

Jawaharlal Nehru.
Part II covers the period of Ramakrishnan's term as the Director of MATSCIENCE, and his visits to about 200 centres of learning the world over where he interacted with leaders in science and lectured on his research in Probability, Stochastic Processes, Elementary Particle Physics, and Matrix Theory, and on his novel treatment of Einstein's Special Relativity.
Historical photographs, letters, and documents of special significance are included.

Mr Krishnaswami Alladi is a professor of mathematics at the University of Florida whose research contributions are in analytic and probabilistic number theory, Diophantine approximations, sieve theory, and the theory of partitions and q-series.
Founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Ramanujan Journal (Springer), devoted to all areas of mathematics influenced by Ramanujan.
He is a teaching graduate in number theory, complex analysis, abstract algebra and conducted research in number theory, combinatorics, partitions, q-series, sieve methods and Diophantine approximations.
He initiated new programs such as the biomath program, distinguished colloquium, and special years. He built up faculty and graduate program by 15% through selective recruitment initiatives and increased national and international visibility and recognition for the department.
Lakshminarayanan Duraiswamy
Mr Lakshminarayanan Duraiswamy is currently the Managing Director of Sundaram Home Finance Limited. He has over 30 years of experience in financial services industry, with expertise in risk management, operations and strategy. He was the Chief Operating Officer of Sundaram AMC till 2019. He joined Sundaram Asset Management Company in 2009 and prior that, he worked for GE Capital India and Australia in various risk management and business development roles across commercial finance, consumer finance and healthcare. He started his career with Citibank in retail operations before moving to GE Capital.
Mr Lakshminarayanan is a commerce graduate, qualified Cost Accountant and Master of Business Administration (Loyola Institute of Business Administration, Chennai). He is also a member of the Managing Committee of Madras Management Association.
