Synopsis “During the days of COVID-19 lockdown, I had the good fortune of being involved in three projects where new businesses were built in an accelerated mode, within 90 days. One was pivot of an existing business, the second was opening up a new market segment, and the third was setting up a brand new business from scratch. The projects spanned three different sectors (healthcare, education and FMCG) but the success ingredients were quite similar. Intensive remote collaboration in missionmode, rapid iterations, and non-hierarchical mode of working helped these projects succeed, and to overcome even COVIDrelated challenges of supply chain logistics and manufacturing. The learning from these projects, and many others that I observed, show us glimpses of what a new paradigm for building businesses in the post-COVID era might look like. For the Indian start-up ecosystem, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reinvent the Silicon Valley model. For bigger companies, it is about a new agile way of working.
