Key questions

E-Safety - Key Questions As leaders of schools or faculties you understand the importance of protecting staff and students. Considering these key questions will help you to get started:

E-safety approaches strike a balance between protection and education for sensible choices. Where do we stand?

Active and successful policies usually include ‘buy-in’ from staff and students. How would we approach this?

Staff are at risk too, particularly where the boundary between personal and professional use of the internet become blurred. Do we have an acceptable use policy (AUP) for staff as well as students?

Are policies backed up with e-safety curriculum activities for students? Do we teach them to ‘cross the road’ safely rather than just keep them ‘safe from traffic’? In the event of difficulties do we have clear lines of responsibility and understandable guidance for action?

Are our e-safety policies integrated into our general child protection framework with involvement of governors and parents where appropriate? This briefing will help you to consider these key questions and also establish avenues for further support
