DALLAS DART STOP Performance Theatre_Art Gallery_Public Park The metropolitan performing arts center and the beautiful Dallas skyline, will be the location for this proposed performative arts gallery. The design of this gallery will integrate the nearby urban fabric with the existing natural landscape while also providing direct access to the heavily populated DART mass transit system.

Users can choose to interact with the gallery/ park or continue around into the arts district along multiple directive paths. The gallery houses a large underground gallery that can be adapted to hold a variety of performances or shows. Included in the gallery is a film room with a large light well that opens up to the ground level. Pedestrians above the gallery level can interact with the space and peer into the room. The gallery also includes an outdoor theatre where films can be played during evening events. As pedestrians arrive at this stop they can physically interact with the art and architecture, enjoy the great panoramic views of the downtown Dallas skyline, or simply journey through this unique space to other destinations.
Views of the skyline and geometry of the site are the main generators for the design of this proposal.

Yellow House Draw INTERPRETIVE CENTER
Yellow House Draw is a large watercourse that slices through the City of Lubbock starting from the Northwest corner extending towards the Southeast reaching Ransom Canyon, and then continuing on to Crosby County. In order to raise awareness and understanding of these extraordinary regions within the varied fabric of the West Texas landscape a proposed development of an educational facility will provide both awareness and support that will provide the required preservation and maintenance for the local ecology (Nesbit). Lake Ransom Canyon lies in the Yellow House Draw just south east of Lubbock. This project will examine the misuse of the land and redevelop the existing recreational island into an educational museum and information center. Site strategies using on site analysis and local ecological research were developed into a series of diagrams to explore the current miss-use and the potential re-use of the land and placement of the facility. A program that accommodates the needs of the center was then developed and carefully placed in equilibrium within the newly developed site strategies. Nesbit,Jeff. The views from inside the center frame and focus on the natural beauty of the site. You can enjoy three separate observation galleries as well as a central courtyard which has stairs that lead down to water level where user ’s attention is drawn again to more of the natural environment.

As you approach the center from land you must choose to either take a straight path over the water to the main entrance or you have the option to take the fly bridge that gradually inclines along with a strip of vegetation and takes you directly to the top of the center exposing the beauty of the redeveloped natural landscape.

Plac e Du C a r ie
Paris,France
The ZACH is requesting a design proposal to create a Place in the Second Arrondissement in the city of Paris France. The Place will be near a thriving wholesale retail area and will be designed to facilitate a growing democratic society and express the relationships of the varying programs that will be located in the Place. Programs including two cafes, a liturgical space (LS), and a fashion design school (IMC), which will be the hierarchical element in the space. Also included in the program is a vitrine, a structured glass box, which will be used to showcase the schools latest work and projects. The Place must incorporate the rules of classicism and establish a precedent for future architects to reference in future designs near the Place. The location was carefully chosen by diagramming the surrounding areas. Les Halls is a large underground mall and metro station with many attractions nearby including the Pompidou Center. It is currently being reconstructed and extended. It being only about a mile from the retail area, a Place on axis to the expansion would be the ideal place to build. The axis created from the existing streets connecting to the expansion of Less Halls terminates at the entrance to Passage du Carrie, the wholesale retail area. To divert attention and break the visual axis from this passage to the hierarchical space, the IMC, an Alley of trees will be placed at the foot of the passage. To further draw attention towards the IMC, a water reel will be placed perpendicular and on center to the Place and its established axis. The Vitrine will be placed directly on center to the IMC to emphasize importance and to draw attention to the zone in front of the IMC. The multiple zones and precincts also add to the hierarchy and centrality of the Place. Stairs are the joints between each of these zones. The constants in the Place design are all according to the measurements, spacings, proportions, and centrality. Increments of four feet are present thoughout the design. From the spacing of the colonnades, facades, and tree Allays to the dimensions of the stairs, Vitrine, and all other elements. The variables in the design are mostly apparent ones. The facades of the IMC, LS, and two cafes break the plane established by the colonnaded facades surrounding the Place, promoting hierarchy towards those spaces.

Watercolor Rendering of Section and Plan, 4ft x 3ft
Liturgical space The basic scheme of the liturgical space or the “Parti” began with basilica cathedral research and ended with a design to create a curricular cross plan. The original scheme was then planned to have a central alter with three radiating chapels and one portico. This changed to a plan that included a terminating apse, side chapels, four radiating chapels, a transept, and a portico still in a symmetrical circular cross plan. The detailing of the “Parti” was an exciting but difficult challenge. Using thresholds, passages, and vaulting the liturgical space was able to divide the central circular zone into separate parts and create precincts. The barrel vaults in the nave and transept are intercepted in the middle by a large dome. Smaller arches divide the open dome area from the vaults and establish a threshold and give structure to the pendentives. The four radiating chapels have a series of thresholds and passages connecting them to the nave, transept, and central dome. In the apse there are five radiating chapels with apse isles and between them and the alter. Both of these details allow for circulation around the liturgical space while a service is in session.

At Michael G Imber Architects In San Antonio, I provided intern-level assistance in the firm including computer design, model development, and design concept support. I Designed marketing material for holiday advertising and negotiated with vendors for mock up materials. I extensively used Photoshop and CAD applications throughout this internship. A typical example of work done at the office would be the roof framing plan for a dining pavilion.

At AccuTech, I developed on-site floorplans for forensic investigations and located troubled areas in various residential and commercial buildings using Automatic Levels, Theodolites, and Zip Level measuring systems. This work was done daily and usually by the end of a 12 hour work day I would have completed an entire building from the recording of site elevations to the completion CAD documents that are seen below.
