Now, at a much older age and with that heartbreaking moment years behind him, the man still struggles to find meaning for his existence. When he is unable to escape the pain of her death, previously lost memories of time shared with her begin to seep into his consciousness. As he seeks the guidance and solace of others to help him achieve the strength to live, a revelation changes his world.
(Illinois) Emily's Pizza, Directed by: Daehwan Cho Roger is a single dad, and lost his job. His lovely daughter, Emily, loves to have a pizza as a birthday gift which is approaching. Roger has no money to buy a pizza, so he decided to panhandle in the street. He got some money, but a thug robbed all the money but few coins. How Roger can bring a pizza for Emily?

(California) The Thick Dark Fog, Directed by: Randy Vasquez Walter Littlemoon attended a federal Indian Boarding school in South Dakota sixty years ago. The mission of many of these schools in 1050, was still to “kill the Indian and save the man.” Children were not allowed to be Indians - to speak their language or express their culture or native identity in any way at the risk of being severely beaten, humiliated or abused. What effects did these actions of forced assimilation cause?

That unwavering forgiveness and love is what we as parents must show toward our children despite their mistakes and shortcomings. The story is about a family that deals with their 21 year old daughter’s impropriety as God has dealt with us and our improprieties through love and forgiveness.
(Toronto, Ontario) Loraine, Directed by: Daniel Sarkissian 8-year old Jake has a passion for classic rock and is bullied by his classmates for being passionate about something they don't understand. When Ms. Loraine, a teacher in her mid-20s who does like rock, fills in as his substitute music teacher, Jake's heart calls out for her. Unfortunately, he's heartbroken once her tenure is over. Months later, when 22-year old cousin Alissa comes to babysit and Jake talks to her about it all. Alissa reveals how she knows Ms. Loraine personally, and that she's actually rather rude. By accepting that Jenna is not perfect, Jake's able to let go of her. Furthermore, Alissa helps Jake understand that if he'd talk to his family, they'd contact his school to try and resolve the bullying issue.

(New York, New York) Insecurity, Directed by: Robert Brink Mario, a security guard and family man, uses his union's 'free education credit' to take a course in Roman History at the Ivy League school where he works. Mario doesn't have the requisite background, so his professor asks him to please simply audit the class, ungraded, so she won't have to fail him. Mario rejects the idea of auditing, and he stoically sets about rewriting his paper to stay fully in the class.

(Spain, Germany, Italy) Hazor, Directed by: Miro Mastropasqua A journey into the deeper experience of coma: While in a coma, Paul is trapped in a never-seen-before world, somewhere between reality and fiction, between the conscious and the unconscious, between life - and his inner death. In the midst of the mysterious forest HAZOR, his shadow is escaping, leaving him behind and making him unable to awake from his coma. Paul has no recollection of what had happened, but deep down inside he feels a destructive guilt. Driven by these emotions, Paul goes on a quest to only dig deeper into his own sub-consciousness and by doing so he gets involved in a conspiracy: a girl is manipulating his shadow in order to take her revenge and to kill him.
(Australia) The Big Noise, Directed by: Dominic Pelosi Morris Falzon works with his father George in a small law firm in the Inner Western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. With his personal life a mess and the business falling apart, Morris is thrown a lifeline when a dying client reveals he is leaving Morris a small fortune in his will. It seems his luck is about to change. However, when his client stages a miraculous recovery, it seems it’s back to the grindstone…or is it? (China) 村小 The Last Pupil, Directed by: Shigang Peng The Last Pupil is a contemporary drama reflecting the challenges faced by both students and teachers in rural Northeast China. Teacher Li and her colleagues are teachers in a remote village school with a dwindling student population. To make more efficient use of resources, their school board has decided to combine underutilized village schools and the teachers are given the opportunity to move along with their few remaining students to a bigger school at the township. However, facing financial pressures, the last remaining pupil cannot afford to go to the big school thus Teacher Li sacrifices her chance for career advancement and chooses to stay with the last pupil at the village. What will happen to Teacher Li and her last student?
(Los Angeles, California) Grace, Directed by: Faye Vivian In an artistic depiction of the beauty found in the grittiness and struggles of life, the day of a prostitute and a ballet dancer are juxtaposed against the poignant sound of 'Amazing Grace', illustrating the way in which we ultimately persevere with grace.
(Scarsdale, New York) Strong Hold, Directed by: Benjamin Warhit A father/relationship based around the sport of high school wrestling. Using physicality of the sport as a metaphor, the conflict between the two is made apparent.
(Canton, Michigan) Once Again, Directed by: Sanjay Arora Raj Malhotra, a self-centered company executive, takes life for granted and uses situations and people around him to his advantage. But life takes an unexpected turn, forcing him to accept the reality and this paves the way to a journey of transformation.
(Vancouver, Canada) Later Than Usual, Directed by: David Hovan A day in the life of an elderly couple. The non-verbal interactions between the two make for sometimes funny and at other times poignant moments throughout the film. This couple has lived so long together that they have nothing left to say to each other. Living in an isolated state in their old house, they go about their daily routines, until‌
(Israel) Wild Horses, Directed by: Amit Carp Shadi (33) is a Palestinian cowboy who lives in a horse-farm with his disabled and strict father, and with his beloved aging horse, Rosa. The status-quo of their daily farm life is broken when Noa (17), a young Israeli, arrives at the farm with her mother for the weekend, and Shadi discovers his father's intentions to kill Rosa.
(Burlington, Canada) 55th & 7th, Directed by: Nic Izzi When screenwriter, Blake, informs his manager, Parker, that he's struggling with writer's block, he debates turning down a film studio's high profile job. Blake deals with the state of his career, as he wishes to be more than a hired gun, but to transform into a true artiste. Blake reflects on moments of his life, as he seeks true happiness in his morose world. At the end of her rope, Blake's girlfriend, Krista, breaks up with the relationship, dealing with similar issues. Krista informs Blake that she is moving to Europe for six months, to find herself and figure out her career path. As Blake wanders the earth, searching for happiness, he bounces from job to job and woman to woman, aimless. Upon learning of Krista's return, Blake has a renewed sense of purpose and begs for one final chance with Krista.
(Jacksonville, Florida) The Prisoner, Directed by: Mahmoud Shoolizadeh Film concentrates on the behavioral Science and Psychology. The theme of the film that shows these aspects of human being is that there is a prisoner in a Death Row who is going to be executed soon, but what he thinks of is not his own life, it is somebody else’s, his mother’s. I tried to go deep inside the soul and show his behavior, tender nature, humane and positive side of him, his pure feelings in the last days of his life. “Sonny and Dub once shared a cell together. Now Sonny is a free man keeping his life as simple and carefree as possible. While Dub is on Death Row and sentenced to be executed in a matter of days, Sonny comes to visit Dub one last time. Dub has a last request - a dying request that he hopes to entrust Sonny with.”
(Spain) Bonsai, Directed by: Roberto Aznar This is a story of a woman who faces up to a terrible reality. The man who was supposed to love her is the man who tries to cut back all her self-esteem and freedom, the same as a bonsai branches can be cut back because of his owner’s whim.
(North Hollywood, California) HOOKAH, Directed by: Matt Hillyer When two strangers start talking at a hookah lounge, their lives are unexpectedly changed by the conversation that ensues. United by their similar experiences with broken father-son relationships, the life of the burnt out, middle-aged Allen is challenged by the older teen Tommy. Convinced that he can still make things right, Allen musters the courage to reach out and restore a broken relationship with his own son.
(Orange, California) King of Saint James, Directed by: Dami Onifade Narcisse is jaded with the lack of job opportunities in his native Jamaica and decides to capitalize on the black magic elixir market. His best friend, Antoinette, comes to purchase some from him in hopes of getting her new husband, Mr. Rochester, to love her. Knowing the perils of his concoctions, he battles to discourage her from moving to England with him and to forget about the potion altogether.
The "Trinity Best Artist Award" Detroit is home to many talented artists. This year The Trinity International Film Festival asked our community to nominate a local director, actor, screenwriter, cinematographer, crew member, producer or editor to receive this year’s "Trinity Best Artist Award." Nominations were submitted and voted on by the community-at-large. The top 3 nominees are selected as finalists by a jury. The winner will be announced at TI Film Festival awards ceremony at the Carr Center, on Saturday, September 21st.
