Day 2 ½ day In this activity participants consider their own strengths and challenges as a leader. Group members will also explore strategies for fostering a learning environment that leverages technology to help develop students' 21st century
skills. Day Three ½ day In this activity group members explore how web-based tools enable administrators, teachers, and students to collaborate and communicate with each other and the world. Group members consider how online communities can create positive environments, discuss and learn best practices to protect against online threats and misuse, and explore how technology and policy can work together Face-to-face Meeting Activities · Highlights of Lessons 1 through 4 in Module 2 of the Intel® Teach Elements: Educational Leadership in the 21st Century multimedia course files http://www.intel.com/education/video/lead/content.htm · Technology assignment: Administrators will develop a parent/stakeholder survey to determine the degree of equitable access to technology in homes and public places in the community. Administrators will include Internet access, WiFi availability, easy access to different types of technology (cell phones, computers, portable digital devices, etc.) in this survey.

Day 4 ½ day For this activity participants will explore topics that are expected to transform teaching and learning in the near future. Leaders complete lessons on the topics of evolving and more mobile online technologies, online learning, and electronic textbooks. Face-to-face Meeting Activities · Highlights of Module 3 of the Intel® Teach Elements: Educational Leadership in the 21st Century multimedia course files http://www.intel.com/education/video/lead/content.htm · Explore emerging trends in technology · Discuss the benefits and challenges of online learning · Investigate the features and advantages of electronic textbooks · Technology Assignment: Administrators will analyze student data to determine the amount and type of professional development needed for the following school year. Administrators will then create an online collaborative document for school improvement for the following school year and discuss options with fellow group members and group facilitators. Group members will share this online collaborative document with faculty members and solicit input for developing a professional development plan for the following school year. Day Five ½ day Face-to-face Meeting Activities: · Final Project Presentations · Peer review of final projects · Complete post project surveys · Complete a reflection on your personal professional development goals considering the three technology goals from the orientation module. Be sure to answer the following questions... Do you feel that you have made progress in meeting your professional development goals? How has this model of professional development helped you to attain your goals? How do you plan on continuing your professional development to attain these goals? What do you feel were your strengths and weaknesses as you have participated in this model of professional development? Evaluation Educational Leadership in the 21st Century group members will be completing an Essential Conditions pre and post survey to determine how effectively their school or school system is leveraging technology for learning. Group members are expected to make progress in their efforts to effectively leverage technology. The Intel final project survey will also be completed after the final group meeting to determine the effectiveness of the online components of this model of learning. Participants are expected to participate in group discussions both face-to-face and online and contribute substantially both on and offline. Group members are expected to upload narrative writing assignments answering key questions pertinent to developing a 21st century school. Writing responses will be checked by the group facilitator for participation and to promote active discussions. A key component of the Educational Leadership in the 21st Century hybrid professional learning group is the final project action plan. Participants will be completing sections of this action plan between face-to-face meetings and will
be uploading this document to the course management system. A completed final project action plan must be turned in by all participants at the last face-toface meeting. Participants will also be given the opportunity to comment on each final action plan using the online forum and the final project rubric. In addition to the final project action plan participants will be creating and presenting a final project presentation outlining pertinent facts about the final action plan and what impact this professional learning group has made on group member's schools or school systems. Group members will also complete a narrative post project reflection detailing how this professional learning group has impacted their own professional development. Post Survey: The purpose of the post is to monitor overall quality of the technology PLU. The evaluation is designed to collect information about the experience and how participation has impacted their ability to promote and support effective instruction and technology integration in their school or district. Continuous reflection, evaluation of progress, and adjustments to the personal action plan will be shared during face-to-face or webinars designed for this purpose. Administrators will create a portfolio of their project and engage in a follow-up session. They will have the option of choosing an online webinar report out or face-to-face follow-up session to present their project.
