Agro-Livestock Research Center II Marfa, TX

Description: Black Hills Ranch, a 12,000-acre ranch, will be the newest acquisition of Sul Ross University commitment to education. The ranch lies 28 miles south of Marfa, Texas in Presidio County. The acquisition comes at a time for Sul Ross University commitment to building a more sustainable future. The University’s Department of Agricultural and Natural Resources Sciences Department (ANRS) efforts in sustainability has led the Department to seek a working ranch with the mission of addressing the Agro-livestock industry’s shortsighted work practices. Efforts in ranching and farming will address water consumption and how to best maximize a limited resource.

From the basic site analysis and precedents, schematic design was developed to align with site requirements and programs. Various component of buildings were introduced to address the problem on site such as louvres, light wells, earth shelter and marshlands. Also the building was fully sustained with on site energy harvest using all natural resources like geothermal, solar and water collection and reuse.

United Housing (Unity Complex)

Location

II Dhaka, Bangladesh

Description: The site was the biggest factor that inspired our concept. The lack of care towards the environment led us to question,“What makes us care so little about our surrounding?” We realized it was the absence of “Sense of Belonging” and identity in living spaces. So the housing complex was designed with one goal only, to give identifiable individual homes rather than just putting up apartments.
