Kent Life
Kent Life is a vibrant, fun destination with a host of attractions on its 28-acre site
Each season brings new activities, entertainment and things to do and see, so whenever you choose to visit, there will be something different. Visit the Vintage Village and explore what life would have been like during World War II, by making your way through the houses and to the Anderson Shelter. The 1950s are well represented in Sandling Farmhouse, or step back in time to Petts Farmhouse from the Victorian era. The atmosphere in the Village Hall and the Church remain, as the walls seem to have absorbed the sense of community and magic, through the celebrations that they have shared. As a working farm, Kent Life showcases and breeds traditional farm animals, including sheep, cows, pigs, horses, alpacas, rabbits, goats, ducks and chickens, and the hands-on cuddle corner is always popular with visitors. The Kent Owl Academy is now resident – take time out to visit the 12 different species, along with two lovely meerkats.

Standard Quay
A totally unique shopping & leisure experience, rich in history! Standard Quay is one of Faversham’s hidden gems! Sitting alongside the Creek at the end of Abbey Street, and within easy walking distance of the town centre, Standard Quay gives the visitor a truly unique experience. Offering Creekside walking, shopping, eating and a chance to see Faversham’s living history, it is home to several classic ships and boats, including barges such as the Cambria and Greta, as well as traditional fishing boats, classic tugs and overnight moorings of all sorts! One of Standard Quay’s classic ‘barn’ buildings, which dates back to the 1700s, is the temporary home of the Cambria Thames Barge Exhibition.
The Historic Monks Granary
Monks Granary was originally constructed to serve as a large warehouse for used timbers salvaged from the refectory of Faversham Abbey, which was built by King Stephen and his wife Queen Mathilda in 1148, and was also their burial place. The abbey was torn down as part of King Henry VIII’s plans to sweep the monastries from England, and today Monks Granary is one of the oldest surviving warehouses in Britain.
The Tea Room and Secret Garden
Please come and visit our lovely garden centre to admire the many speciality plants and shrubs, as well as the large selection of glazed and terracotta pots. You will also be made very welcome at the Standard Quay Tea Room and Coffee House, which serves delicious homemade food, so you can treat yourself to a snack, meal, or maybe a piece of homemade cake, all created on the premises. In the summer, you can enjoy your refreshments in our Secret Garden.
Just above the Tea Room is Aladdin’s Loft indoor market – the name speaks for itself!
Aladdin’s Loft is definitely worth a browse, as it has 22 different retailers selling antiques and collectables, and is perfect if you are looking for something unusual or ‘not on the high street’. For sat nav directions please use ME137BS.

The Big Cat Sanctuary Protection is their passion...
It’s all about conservation
The Big Cat Sanctuary is a centre for wild cats, whose objectives are welfare, breeding, education and conservation. The initiatives undertaken are a vital part in saving some of the most endangered and iconic species on the planet from extinction. There are various projects, which include co-ordinated breeding, contributions to frontline conservation strategies, and the welfare of the sanctuary’s resident cats, who are not only ambassadors of their wild cousins, but also play an active role in securing a future for wildlife and the natural world.
You can visit these cats in Kent
The sanctuary offers personal big cat experiences, including an Overnight Big Cat Safari, where you get up close and personal with some of the world’s most endangered cats, and enjoy afternoon tea, a three-course meal and full English breakfast in our conservatory, overlooking our African lion brothers as they sleep and roar the time away. The Big Cat Encounter is a guided tour of the amazing cats, giving an insight into The Big Cat Sanctuary’s conservation work, and even an opportunity to hand-feed one too. There are photographic workshops, which are led by one of our professionals, who will tutor and assist you to capture awesome images, either in a group or individually. For those who like to get hands-on, there are Ranger Days, where you assist the keepers in the day-to-day duties of taking care of the cats. Adopters’ afternoons run throughout the summer months; adopt a cat of your choice and visit the sanctuary on one of the available dates. Various conservation events run at the centre, which is open all year, but by appointment only. The four annual open days are usually held in July of each year, with dates and tickets being released at the beginning of 2018.
Be a big cat champion, become a member
Membership helps fund welfare, breeding, conservation and education initiatives, providing the best possible environment, enrichment and care of their resident cats, as well as contributing to global conservation projects in breeding and protection, securing a future not only for wild cats, but also our natural world. You will receive an exclusive quarterly e-newsletter, which is filled with personal insights from managing director and big cat expert Giles Clark and the team, with updates on all of our cats and conservation projects. Members will receive a limited-edition pin badge; the first is Kasanga, the African lion who was a circus rescue, then a lone lion in a zoo – The Big Cat Sanctuary raised funds to send him to a conservation facility in Uganda, to provide a wonderful future with two lionesses and hopefully have cubs. Alice and the Hatter “Take some more tea,” the March Hare said to Alice
Lewis Carol wrote, ‘Begin at the beginning’, and so Alice and the Hatter comes to town in the form of a new themed tearoom in Herne Bay. Offering a family atmosphere and ambience best described as curious, the décor of themed wall art, chequered floor, throne chairs, tea-cup stools, grassy nooks and love seats is a unique experience that is waiting to be discovered.
You’re invited... A warm welcome is assured for all of our customers whilst with us. Choose to enjoy either our ‘Alice breakfast’, a debonair luncheon, or partake and indulge in that most quintessential of English customs, afternoon or high tea. Now, pause for tea, a most fashionable social event, head to our communal space, and find yourself using our ‘Queen of Hearts’ table, available to those celebrating special occasions, and adorned with teacup stools, a large throne for the ‘special guest’, and of course, a large teapot! Be sure to email us at info@aliceandthehatter.co.uk for parties and bookings. Why not join us for your own special occasion, be it a birthday, baby shower, anniversary, or just a good excuse for a tea party with a difference? Both private venue hire and characters (Alice and the Hatter) hire available.

Kent Life
Kent Life is a vibrant, fun destination with a host of attractions on its 28-acre site
The Play Areas
Indoor and outdoor play areas amuse and generate a lot of fun; donkey rides, the paint-a-pot studio, tractor and land train rides, bouncy castle, and much more bring a uniqueness to the experience at Kent Life. During school holidays, special shows run in the indoor Big Top – included in standard admission prices.
Seasonal Events
Open all seasons, events and activities run all year round, especially during holidays and weekends.
Tea Rooms and Refreshments
Finish your visit with a trip to Dotty’s Tea Room, which has great home-made cakes and a selection of hot and cold snacks. @KentLifeFamilyFun

Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar The ultimate experience
RAF Biggin Hill, near London, was a vital fighter station during World War Two. Lying on top of the North Downs in Kent, 600 feet above sea level, it was ideally situated to lead the fight against Hitler’s Luftwaffe attacks on England. Today, the Spitfires are back! The Heritage Hangar is not a museum, but the world’s largest working facility dedicated to the operation, maintenance and restoration of Spitfire aircraft. In addition to the numerous Spitfires, there are other WW2 fighters, including a Hurricane, a German Messerschmitt Bf109E, and a collection of classic vehicles.
The Hangar also conducts tours and ‘Sit in a Spitfire’ days. For more details or to book online: www. bigginhillheritagehangar.co.uk
The SpitďŹ re Company (Biggin Hill) Ltd Since its creation, the Spitfire Company has restored many marks of Spitfires to flying. Currently, there are three further examples under restoration, awaiting various parts from a manufacturer situated at Sandown Airport on the Isle of Wight. These include wings and tailplanes, which, when received at the heritage hangar, will be assembled to the three fuselages, together with the installation of the hydralics and electrics, before being test-flown from Biggin Hill. With any restoration of a previously grounded Spitfire, as much as possible from the original aircraft is incorporated into the rebuild, making it as authentic as possible. We now also offer the chance for the public to fly in a two-seat Spitfire. this is the ultimate thrill to experience flying in this iconic aircraft from such an iconic wartime airfield as Biggin Hill. We fly from March to October, so early booking is essential. If this does not appeal, then we do offer you the chance to take a hangar tour, when we allow you to just sit in the cockpit of a Spitfire. Please visit one of the three websites below. www.bigginhillheritagehangar.co.uk | www.thespitfirecompany.co.uk |www.flyaspitfire.co.uk
