because the saree would have become old or damaged and the fabric would have lost its luster. The original zardosi (gold thread work) or embroidery work, however, would still be breathtakingly beautiful. Here’s what MetroMela thinks you should do with such sarees instead of letting them rot away to oblivion.

Transform old sarees into new ones and give your wardrobe a new look! There are several boutiques in the city which help you transfer the original work from one fabric to another. So this way you can get an entirely new saree, salwar suit or even a wall piece made, with the help of your old one. The work of the boutiques that we list below is so neat that it’s difficult for a person to find out that the zardosi or embroidery work is actually old and has just been transferred. Better still, the old saree will find a good use.

What you see - The BJN Hotels Group took a long time to expand in Hyderabad. But when they did, it was with a bang. They started off with Angeethi, the Punjabi dhaba-like restaurant that has been doing really well in the city, thanks to the economicallypriced buffet. And then waited for years (wonder why?) to start their other restaurants in the city. With the City Center mall opening up in Hyderabad, the BJN Group has booked a complete floor for their businesses ranging from Aromas of China for Cantonese and Shanghai cuisines to Firangi Paani, a pub with an ambience of the Victorian era. We decided to check out Indi Joe, their multi-cuisine restaurant on The buffet spread

the same floor.

Global cuisine at Indian prices at Indi Joe The restaurant is not flashy when it comes to the colors that are used for the décor. Only subtle colors like brown, black, beige and white abound here, whether it is in the furniture, the walls, the stylish bar, in the uniforms that the stewards wear or even the cutlery (barring the silverware). We visited this restaurant on a weekday. Not that it made a difference because it was full even then. We luckily managed to get seats for ourselves. What you get - Like Angeethi, this restaurant is popular for its buffet. It’s a lavish spread starting from soups and salads to pastries and soufflés. What’s more? We tried the latter and it turned out to be a mix of finely chopped veggies in mayonnaise, served like a cocktail in a glass. This one goes perfectly with the Garlic toast (4 pieces – Rs. 65) on offer. You should try some of the non-alcoholic concoctions here. Most of these go with interesting names and the menu card, thankfully explains what you can expect in each too. There is Crimson Tide (a mix of orange juice, mango juice and cassis or black cur-

MetroMela user Amrita Suresh reviews Sahib Sindh Sultan restaurant.Amrita gets a voucher of Rs. 500 for her contribution.

The very name ‘Sahib, Sindh, Sultan’ spells opulence and sure enough we weren’t disappointed! Right from the décor to the elegantly carved water jugs, this is one restaurant that is classy in every sense. Built to resemble a luxury railway coach in the early twentieth century, dining here is an experience in itself. One of the earliest telephone models adorns the walls of the ‘railway platform’ style dining area, even as bearers in quaint uniforms and turbans bustle about getting in and out of the ‘bogey.’ The restaurant owes its unusual name to the first train that ran between Mumbai and Thane. The three coaches were named Sahib, Sindh and Sultan.

A computer engineer by profession, Inciyah Khambati realized the need for spirituality 10 years back when introduced to Reiki by a wellwisher. She believes that practice makes one perfect and the wonderful results her clients have achieved in areas like health, wealth and relationships are a testimony of her dedication. VIRGO - The tarot is not so positive this month for Virgos. Be careful and don’t try any new investments. Hard and focused work is going to bring you tremendous rewards. Meditative colors: Silver, blue, Lucky number: 10, 15, 28

CAPRICORN - Changes are ahead in the sector of work. Personal demands require that you put your career plans on hold for a while. The changes in your personal and work sectors will not be leaving you high or dry financially.A mature male is holding the financial fort for you while you are involved in other more personal concerns. You will realize at the deepest level that time alone can sort out the situation and there’s no rushing time. All that is required of you is to just ‘be there’ in a calm and tranquil state. Expect a long waiting financial deal to come through this month. AQUARIUS - Something comes to you from your past in the way of a material boon. This will have some proceedings involving solicitors or the executors of a will or bequest. Others will find themselves in communication with faraway places to secure the win.The outcome of this is growth. Lucky colors: Sky or turquoise blue Lucky numbers: 1, 4

SCORPIO - The Sacrifice card in your Tarot predicts that your career is going well. The cards are saying that you must put home and family life before your career aspirations. Your deepest wish will come true this month. Do not be too possessive and learn to let go. Propitious colors: Golden, brown Lucky numbers: 8, 13

PISCES - A partnership opportunity comes your way this month. For those of you already with a partner, a new lease of emotional life emerges bringing you closer together. For those Pisceans a wish will come true.Work and too much stress can cause you to lose perspective. Therefore, it’s time to delegate tasks and re-assess your goals. Success in the current endeavor is yours, but it doesn’t have to be at your physical expense. You will reach a state of peace concerning the decisions you’ve made. The last week of April is going to be more rewarding and you shall be more giving and generous. Lucky colors: Violet, gold Lucky numbers: 6, 12

SAGITTARIUS - Connected to some sort of financial win comes a messenger with a strange message, but a pleasing one. Don’t be surprised if this month sees the Sagittarian taking risks. That’s all part of their nature — fiery bravery and willingness to roll the proverbial dice and take the chance. Be careful to stay in touch with the joy of creation, it’s more important for success than an attachment to possible material gain. This is a good period for students too.

Rubber Bullets... For your funny bone

Dear Natasha, Yet another action packed week ended in Mumbai - full of fun and frolic. It was a weekend of introspection too because it has made me realize many things. Like having money when none of your friends have any is as good as not having any. I have also gathered many insights into the love life of south Indian men. And what I have unearthed is most disheartening because comprehension of these truths will not change my status anytime soon; in spite if me being a virile, gallant, well-educated, good looking and sincere South Indian. Sigh! Let me explain. The future of people like me is shot to hell as soon as parents bestow names that are anything but alluring. I cannot imagine a more foolproof way of making sure that the child remains single till classified advertisements or that maternal uncle in San Francisco thinks otherwise. Name him “Parthasarathy Venkatachalapthy”. He will grow to be known as Partha. And before he knows, his smart, seductively named Northy classmates will start calling him Paratha. The result - No woman in her right mind will go anywhere near poor Parthasarathy. Yes Natasha, nomenclature is the first nail in the coffin. In a kinder world they would just name the poor southern male child and throw him off the balcony. “Yes Appa we have named him Goundamani...” THUD. Life would have been harsh to him anyway. Couple this with the other failures that have plagued our existence. In a disco while we can manage the medium hip shake with neck curls, once the Bhangra starts pumping we are as fluid as cement and gravel in a mixer. And then the women love a man who digs pasta and fondue. But why do they not see the simple pleasures of curd rice and coconut chutney? When poor Senthilnathan opens his tiffin box in the office lunch room his female coworkers just disappear on seeing the tamarind rice and papads. They rematerialize around Bobby Singh who has ordered for Pizza and Garlic bread. Sociologically too the South Indian man is severely sidelined. An average stud of my origin stays in a house with, on average, two grandparents, three sets of uncles and aunts, and over 10 children. Not the ideal atmosphere for some intimacy, is it? Alas, it does not end there. On the first night, as the stud sits on his bed finally within touching distance and whispers his sweet desires into his wife’s delectable ear, she blushes, turns around and whispers back, “But amma has said only on second Saturdays...” Warm Regards, Ajith Kumar Bala Kirshana Pillai (forget it, just Ajith)
