My experience 1.
Joined a project with 2 of my colleagues during the summer - focused on improving physician use of telemedicine at MUHC 2. Project is still ongoing 3. Enjoyed it so much that I did a 2 week elective in QI for my Med3 electives 4. Pros: a. Working on a project that aims to make a change now by mobilizing research and best practices for better patient outcomes b. This project (and several others in QI) are COVID-19 friendly c. New and upcoming area of research and expertise d. You can ďŹ nd a project in any discipline that interests you 5. Cons: a. Still a new ďŹ eld of study b. Less well known E-mail me with questions! andrew.dixon@mail.mcgill.ca

McGill Summer Research Bursary
Why should you apply? 1) It helps pay the bills! It is a funded experience ($3 125). 2) Great way to get integrated into the McGill academic medicine community. 3) Excellent way to gain research exposure and experience. Absolutely no expectation of previous research experience –applications only assessed the strength and feasibility of the project proposal, not your academic track record/CV.
It might not be a good fit for you, if... 1) You would like to travel during the summer (COVID-19 permitting of course) and/or RELAX completely as you are expected to complete full-time research (35 hours/week) over 8 consecutive summer weeks. 2) You are unable to find a project and supervisor that fits your interest(s) amongst the Faculty’s list (quite unlikely)
How do I apply? Opportunity announced: UGME eDigest January 23, 2020
