Situated in Riverbluffs Park, Cambridge ON, this residence sits adjacent to the Grand River and the pollinator preserve. Taking advantage of its location the house has an education and preservation center for the local pollinators in the area. It acts as a key resource for understanding and preserving Riverbluffs Park’s native plants and bees. The center has a shop offering products from its on-site apiary, along with educational classes on native bees and plants.

Since this unique dwelling serves both as a private residence and a public space, ensuring privacy was a crucial consideration during its design. To promote privacy while connecting both the residence and vistors to eachother the wall that separates the main residence from the shop, is crafted of a glass-encased observation hive. This solution allows residents and visitors to observe the fascinating world of bees while still maintaining a sense of privacy.

Situated in Mount Isa, Australia, this building is situated near the country’s largest underground mines. It serves as both a living and working space for a lapidarist and geologist who utilize the extensive collection of crystals and minerals in their craft. Due to the semi arid climate of the region, the residence incorporates various passive measures to handle the dry summers and wet winters. The design of the building takes careful consideration of window placement and materials, harnessing the climate to its benefit.
