Food and rituals associated with it bring powerful emotions and can inspire strong writing. Published writer and educator Jules Nyquist, whose latest poetry chapbook is “Appetites: Poems on Food, Drink, Sex” (Beatlick Press, 2010) will show you how to use food as a metaphor through writing exercises that draw upon cultural images toward food, food rituals and preparation, gender, politics, body image and hunger. Explore fiction and poetry selections about gastronomy and art. Optional class reading sharing your work in the last class. The class will be followed by a reading by Jules from her work.
