By now, winter is in full sway and with a little luck, the Arboretum has become a winter wonderland. Naturalist Matt Schuth will begin with a show-and-tell about some of the Arboretum’s fauna and flora. Then he will guide participants outdoors to track animals and identify trees and plants in their winter form. Learn more about their history and mystery, then return to the Oswald Visitor Center for a warming cup of hot chocolate or cup of soup. Many have made this winter walk with Matt one of their holiday and year-end traditions. $14 member/$26 non-member, includes Arboretum gate admission and a voucher for a beverage in the cafe. Gongfu is a Chinese tea ceremony involving the ritualized preparation and presentation of tea. Take part in a Gongfu tea ceremony and learn to create your own beautiful tea experience. Try various Chinese teas and treats, learn about their folklore and health benefits.

Chalk pastel is a portable, dynamic medium with a painterly quality akin to oil painting. This class will provide you with helpful techniques to explore this medium as you draw a ruby-throated hummingbird with a focus on balancing line, color and composition.
